Fishermen must have a safety certificate issued by Samsa and maritime authorities can ask them for these at any time,” explains Barnes. “I want to remind fishermen how impor- tant it is to wear their life jackets at all times when they go out into the sea. front page picture of 30 July featur-ing Diane’s crowningmoment, stat-ing that “it was a joke that an over-weight person wins a beauty com-petition”.“What are you promoting?” she
asked. “Obesity, health issues andhow to be a [sic] unattractive wom-en?”In the following week, Tyger-
Burger was besieged with lettersfrom readers on the topic. One read-er, Dominique, was disgusted atwhat Sue had to say.“You think it’s a joke that ‘an

traditional sense of theword, Diane,a strikingly beautiful woman, saidshe had endured similar pressureduring the weeks leading up to thepageant on 26 July.“In the beauty industry it is ex-
pected of all so-called beauty queensto be super skinny and at times dur-ing the competition I felt pressuredto give it all up due to criticism fromsomecorners.But I pushed through,reminding myself why I enteredthis competition,” she said.The aim of this pageant, which
runs under the auspices of the RoleModels organisation, is to uplift thecommunity, and Diane has made ither vision to renovate a derelict lit-tle farm school in Worcester for un-derprivileged children.“In my wildest dreams I did not
think I could win this competition,but now with the actual title undermy belt I can take up the challenge.For me it was never about being theprettiest or the thinnest, it wasabout having the title in order to useit for a higher purpose,” she said.“I worked very hard for this title.
I attended every single function pos-sible to promote the purpose of thepageant, which in my case is fixingup this little school that has noth-ing. I had to ask myself the criticalquestion: ‘Do you want this crownfor yourself, or for what you canachieve by means of it?’”

Silver Eagle keeps on riding highRICHARD ROBERTS

An American style vintage bus is not acommon sight on Cape Town roadsbut don’t be surprised if you spot one
around Kuils River.Nearly half a century after it was built,
this particular silver and light-blue Ameri-can 42-seater Silver Eagle bus belongs toKuils River resident George Esbach. Hewants to utilise the single-decker vehicle totransport seniors and other passengersover long distances.
Esbach bought the bus several years agoand has since made it available to film andadvertising companies wanting to use it intheir productions.
So far the bus has featured in an advertfor an American beverage company, for apotato chips company and in an Indian filmproduction. Most recently, Esbach says, thebus featured in a local advert that was shotand filmed in Cape Town.
“This is one of the last American-stylebuses in Cape Town,” Esbach said.
Speaking to the TygerBurger from hishome in Reuter Street, he said that the 1972model bus was imported by the railways.
“They bought about 50 of these buses backthen because they were built to be used oncorrugated and farm roads. They are veryspecial not like all of the other buses, it isten times stronger,” said Esbach. Althoughhe is certain that the Silver Eagle is one ofkind in Cape Town, he is not entirely surewhether it’s the last remaining bus of itskind in the country.
“Perhaps there are still a few in Johan-nesburg,” he said.
Esbach’s hope is that more film and ad-
vertising companies can use the bus, but al-so hopes to use it to transport senior citizensin the near future. He also wants to use thebus for long distance trips.
“If I have enough money I want to takeit to Johannesburg.”
He added that he wants some minor main-tenance work done to the bus. “My mainaim is to preserve the detail of the bus, keepit as original as possible,” he said. Over the
years he has already made minor renova-tions to the bus to maintain it.
While he points out that the bus is stillin 90% in order it is registered and certifiedto transport people anywhere in the coun-try.

South Africans Against DrunkDriving(SADD), on Thursday hailed theBellville Specialised Commercial CrimeCourt’s decision to jail a former policesergeant for accepting a bribe.
On Tuesday Cornelius Wessels recei-ved an eight-year prison sentence fromthe court for accepting a R100 bribe tosmuggle a food parcel, with dagga hid-den inside, into a holding cell at the CapeTown police station.
The incident involved an undercoverpolice operation, during which a policeinformant posed as a prisoner.
The trap was set after Wessels had
been identified as a corrupt policeman.Magistrate Sabrina Sonnenberg des-
cribed the incident as “absolutely shoc-king” and would not allow a sentence in-volving correctional supervision thatwould see Wessels released from prisonafter a short period, followed by housearrest and community service.
“We urge courts to continue to see is-sues involving police or traffic officerstaking bribes in a very serious light andto sanction such crimes accordingly,”said SADD spokesperson Caro Smit.
“Bribes allow drunk drivers to getaway with repeat offences, thinking thatthis is not a serious crime and thereforecontribute toward our high death and in-jury rate on the roads,” said Smit.

Pet owners are cautioned to vaccinatetheir dogs against Canine Distemper(CD).The Cape of Good Hope (CoGH) SPCA
says they’ve been experiencing an incre-ase in the number of infected animals.The organisation last Tuesday issued
a reminder to canine owners to vaccina-te their puppies and older dogs.Wanika Rusthoi, a spokesperson for
the organisation, explained that CD is avirus that affects a dog’s respiratory,gastrointestinal and central nervous sy-stems, as well as the conjunctival mem-branes of the eye.Noticeable signs of CD include: shed-
ding, thickmucus discharge from the ey-es and nose, fever, lethargy and suddenvomiting and diarrhoea.“The virus does howeverhave an incu-
bation period of two weeks whereinsymptoms are not noticeable, and somedogs are able to be carriers of the virus
without showing symptoms themsel-ves,” she said.“CD infection is preventable through
up to date vaccinations against the vi-rus,” she said.The CoGH SPCA urged all dog owners
tomake sure their pet’s vaccinations areup to date – this includes an annual boos-ter vaccination.“Pet owners who take their dogs for
walks in public areas like parks or bea-ches should make sure to visit their vetannually for a booster vaccinationagainst this and other viruses that canaffect their dog’s health,” she said.Wanika said the CoGH’s Gorfinkel
Animal Hospital in Grassy Parkwas pla-ced under quarantine for the next fourweeks.She said non-emergencieswould be re-

’n Bron met wieTygerBurger gepraat het,sê dit is ’n jarelange probleem dat mensevan buite dagga, ander dwelms en selfoneoor die tronkmuur gooi. Hier kry gevange-nes dan die goed en stap doodluiters na hulselle.
“Dit gaan my verstand te bowe dat hier-die probleem nog nie opgelos is nie. Daaris tog bewaarders oral, maar dit lyk of daarnie genoeg kontrole is nie. Daar is al in dieverlede bewaarders by die tronk gevangwat met die gevangenes handel gedryf het,”beweer hy.
Verlede week is daar glo tien selfone en’n groot hoeveelheid dagga in die selle vangevangenes gekry. Hierdie vonds volg opselfoonfoto’s wat geneem is deur ’n gevan-gene. Hy het die foto’s aan iemand in ’n ge-sagsposisie gewys.
Volgens die bron het die fluitjieblaser fo-to’s geneem om te bewys dat daar op grootskaal met veral dagga handel gedryf word
en dat selfone ’n algemene verskynsel in diegevangenis is.
Asof die besit van onwettige goedere niegenoeg is nie, is daar glo ook verlede week’n gevangene op die dak van die tronk ge-kry. “Ek weet nie hoe hy daar gekom hetnie, maar ’n mens kan nie die moontlikheiduitsluit dat hy hulp van binne gehad het nie.Dit is ook nie heeltemal seker wat hy op diedak gedoen het nie, maar dit wil voorkomasof hy vir ’n pakkie van buite gewag het,”sê die bron, wat weens vrees vir viktimis-asie nie sy naam bekend wil maak nie.
Verder beweer die bron selle word ge-reeld deursoek en onwettige goedere ge-vind, maar op ’n manier vind die goed netweer hul pad terug na die tronk. “Baie vandie ongerymdhede word ook aan die buite-wêreld verswyg om nie die beeld van dietronk te skaad nie. As iemand ’n ordentlikeondersoek van stapel stuur sal daar gevindword dat dinge nie so rooskleurig is by dietronk soos wat almal dink nie,” beweer hy.TygerBurger het Simphiwe Xako, woord-
voerder vir korrektiewe dienste, om kom-mentaar genader oor die beweerde voorval-le by die tronk, maar teen druktyd het hynog nie op die vrae geantwoord nie.

Paint it Forward is a social responsibilityinitiative by Cape Town Angels that prima-rily supports sustainable development
projects through active volunteerism.The initiative depends on volunteers to
boost other social responsibility initiativesin Cape Town.
It is a non-profit companydrivenbyyoungprofessionals operating in and around CapeTown. Through commitment, partnershipand collaboration, the organisation shares“the magic of compassion” by supporting
the growth of sustainable developmentprojects, boosting other social responsibili-ty initiatives and linking organisations, vol-unteers and sponsors with other worthycharities needing support.
Anybody is welcome to enter the Paint ItForward project by 27 September.
“In general we are working with teams ofmaximumfourpeople (friends, family or col-

Huis Zonnekus is a program of Badisaand a home in Milnerton responsible forthe care of our elderly.
They want to create a warm home forall their residentswith Christian love andcare of a high standard. They can onlyachieve this if the community gets invol-ved in the home’s activities.
To get a better understanding of the con-straints and challenges the home faces, itis worthwhile looking at some statistics.
There are 96 people residing in the ho-me. Approximately 80% of them are wo-men. Furthermore, 49% are frail or needconstant assistance. This is an indication
of the high level of nursing required on adaily basis.
Eighteen of the residents are over theage of 90, which represents a fifth of thehome, and there are 45 residents aged bet-ween 80 and 90.
This means that two thirds of the resi-dents are over the age of 80.
The majority of Huis Zonnekus’ resi-dents are poor and dependent on a govern-ment pension (R1 200 per month). Theseresidents are subsidized by the govern-ment by an amount of between R300 to amaximum of R2 000 per month.
Therefore, evenwhen a resident is frail,and themaximumof R2 000 is granted, theamount does not cover the home’s unitcost. These are the costs incurred to carefor a resident for one month and includesaccommodation in a private room, threebalanced meals a day, housekeeping,laundry and medical care.

By aanskoue van die vlugvoetige vrou opdie netbalbaan is dit moeilik om te glo datsy tydens die afgelope nasionale kampioen-skapstoernooi (op 12 Augustus) 47 gewordhet.
Vanessa het as 9-jarige by die LaerskoolCentral Park inBonteheuwel op dieKaapsevlakte begin netbal speel, waar sy steedswoon saam met haar nommer een-onder-
steuner, haar man, Mark. Hulle het tweekinders en ook reeds ’n kleinkind wat aanhaar amptelik ouma-status verleen.
’n Bekende in netbalkringe, en een vandie huidige nasionale keurders, Piti Sin-den, het Vanessa in 1997 oorreed om Goul-burn United in Bonteheuwel te verruil virbeter geleenthede by die Goodwood-netbal-klub.
Dit was ook afrigter Sinden wat besef hetVanessa is ’n beter verdedigende speler enhaar van hulpdoel na hulpdoelverdedigergeskuif het. Verdedigende vleuel is nouhaar spesialisposisie, maar sy speel ook ge-reeld senter.
Vanessa se pa is oorlede toe sy dertienwas en haar ma moes sewe kinders groot-maak in hul eenslaapkamer- munisipalehuis. Sportwasnogaltydvirhaar ’nmanierom uitdagings te oorkom, sê die vrou watook die WP in ysskaats en aksienetbal ver-teenwoordig het en sedert 2001 in die WPse A-netbalspan is.
WP-spanmaat Zonika Meyer sê wat oefe-ning betref, werk Vanessa “drie keer sohard soos die res van ons”. Twee uur vanelke weeksdag word afgestaan aan ’n kom-binasie van intense kardio-oefening en jogain die gimnasium. Buiten haar geloof , glosy haar sukses lê in die navolging van dievier D’s, desire, dedication, determinationand discipline.
Sy is geseënd om relatief beseringsvry tewees en skryf dit toe aan die dissipline omtopfiks te bly, gesond te eet en agt tot tienure se slaap per nag. Die lyf neem deesdaelanger om te herstel en daarom sal jy haarna elke wedstryd in die ysbad vind.
Aangesien sy die omgewing en die be-hoeftes verstaan, wil sy graag die jeug inveral agtergeblewe gemeenskappe aanmoe-dig om deur sport uit te styg bo hul omstan-dighede. Om die rede is sy gereeld betrokkeby afrigtingsklinieke en motiveringspraat-jies by skole. Sy was voorheen ook afrigterby die laerskole St. Cyprians en Herschel,en rig tans af by ReddamHouse in Constan-tia.
Benewens haar spelpeil wat nog aan diestandaard moet voldoen bring sy balans nadie span met hope ervaring.
Sy was in 2002 die kaptein van die SAA-span en in 2003 het sy vir die Proteas ge-speel. Op klubvlakwas sy sedert 2004 byTy-gerberg-Northlink en die laaste jaar speelsy by De Tyger.

Theron is besig met sy doktorsgraad oordie invloed van hedendaagse tegnologie opkinders se ervarings en watter sielkundigerisiko’s en voordele dit inhou.
“Dis ’n enorme probleem. In Japan was diegemiddelde slaap by tieners die afgelope vyfjaar maar 4 tot 5 ure per nag. In Amerika enChina is dit net so ’n groot probleem.
“Ook in Suid-Afrika was dit in elke enkelestudie wat gedoen is, die grootste probleem.
“Skerms gee blou lig af, wat die internekorteks stimuleer en jou uit die slaap hou.Dieselfde geld vir ’n TV-skerm.
Selfoon“Dis die grootste rede hoekom tieners
minder slaap kry. As hulle slaap, word hulslaap ook onderbreek as die selfoon afgaan.”
Volgens Theron is daar studies wat bevindhet dat selfs ’n afgeskakelde selfoon op diebedkassie slaapgolwe affekteer – veral dieREM (Rapid Eye Movement)-fase van slaap.
“Dit het ’n effek op konsentrasie, emosio-nele regulering, akademiese vermoëns ensosiale interaksie.
“Dit maak kinders meer vatbaar vir angs-en gemoedsteurings. Streshormone styg,asook die afskeiding van kortisol en adrena-lien. Jy sit gewig aan en dit lei tot siektessoos diabetes 2. Dit het ’n legio nadele,” hethy gesê.
In agt jaar het tegnologie ons wêreld baieverander, het Theron gesê. “Die vorige ge-slag dink dis ’n voorreg om ’n selfoon te hê.Maar dit is só deel van die volgende geslag,dat hulle voel dit is deel van hulself – van-daar die ontsettende emosies wat ontlokword as dit weggeneemword.
“Dit hou verband metdie tiener se ontwikkelingvan ’n eie identiteit en wathy met tegnologie kandoen.
“Ons geslag kan onder-skei tussen die regte wê-reld en kuberwêreld.Maar die volgende geslagtref geen onderskeid.”
Ontwikkeling“’n Groot gedeelte van
ons kinders se sosiale-emosionele en interper-soonlike ontwikkeling ge-skied op die internet. Dit het ’n effek op dieneurobiologiese en psigo-sosiale kwesbaar-heid van kinders.
“As kinders tieners raak, gaan hul breine’n stap terug, volgens ’n artikel oor ’n studiein National Geographic.
“Baie van die dinge soos abstrakte denkeen empatie moet ontwikkel tydens adoles-sensie. Die pre-frontale korteks van vroeëtieners se breine is nog nie ten volle ontwik-kel nie; daarom is hulle vatbaar vir die in-vloed van tegnologie,” het hy gesê.
“Hulle het ’n drang na sosiale interaksiemet hul vriende, en wil net heeltyd by hulvriende wees, maar het nie die remme omte weet wanneer om op te hou nie,” het hygesê.
“Geen sosiale media-blootstelling is sleg-ter as dié wat dit matig doen, maar dié wat
dit te veel doen, vaar slegter as die wat ditglad nie doen nie. Dit gaan oor hoeveel jy ditgebruik, het hy gesê.
Een van die nadele is dat dit verslawendis. Skanderings het gewys dat ’n gedeeltevan die brein wat vir jou sê jy het ’n goeie
job gedoen en dopamienlaat afskei, geaktiveerword as ’n tiener met teg-nologie omgaan, sê hy.
“Die enkele sterksteversterkingsmeganismein die brein is die vreesdat jy iets sal misloop, inEngels bekend as ‘fear ofmissing out’,” sê hy.
Tegnologie het ook ’ndefinitiewe impak optaalgebruik en die gehal-te en diversiteit vanwoordeskat.
In ’n verslag einde 2012is bevind die woordeskatvan tieners in Engeland
vergelyk met dié van ’n 6-jarige en is hulleas gevolg daarvan nie employable nie.
“Onsdrukonsbeleweniswêrelduit in taal,ook ons emosies. Dit het ’n implikasie virverhoudings. Jy kan nie vir alles sê iemandmaak jou kwaad nie, want daar is subtielenuanses in taalgebruik.
“Die effek van die verval van taalgebruikis baie belangrik.”
Tegnologie het ook ’n negatiewe impak opkreatiwiteit. Baie navorsing bewys kreati-witeit en nuwe denke vind in isolasie plaas,het hy gesê.
“As die eksterne korteks nie die heeltydgestimuleer word nie, tree diepere brein-funksies en denke in en kry mense tyd virrefleksie, introspeksie en oordenking. ’nMens moet stil wees om dit te kan doen. Dítlei tot kreatiewe denke.”

tegnologie af te skakel, maar ons kan diehoeveelheid tyd bestuur wat ons daaraanspandeer.
“Reg oor die wêreld toon studies dat diepositiewe aspekte van tegnologie negatiefraak na ’n sekere aantal ure skermtyd perdag.
“Ná vier ure raak dit sleg vir jou.”Maar in Korea is die gemiddelde tyd per
dag 10 ure, in Amerika 9 ure en in Europa6 tot 8 ure per dag.
“Ons is in die moeilikheid”.“Maak seker jou tieners kry genoeg slaap;
hou tegnologie-vrye tye en verduidelik diepermanensie van jou digitale footprint aanjou tieners.
“Ouers moet common sense gebruik en hulkinders help om balans terug te kry; ons isverantwoordelik vir ons kinders en faal hul-le as hulle nie balans het nie.
“Praat daaroor; moenie opgee en jou kindlaat doen wat hy wil nie.”
Agt ure slaap is te min vir tieners – hullemoet 9 tot 10 ure slaap.

Sue van der Linde’s dream to establishthe best children’s hospice in the coun-try was given a significant boost when
the Western Cape Provincial Governmentrecently made a house available for the or-ganisation.The announcement was made by Van der
Linde, founder of Iris House Children’s Hos-pice, at their annualWinterBall, a fund rais-ing event held at the Table Bay Hotel on Sat-urday night.“Now that we have a property, all funds
raised will go toward renovating this housein order to provide a loving and nurturingenvironment for a child who has reachedend of life,” she said.In its third year, this organisation pro-
vides free community based respite care andcaters for the special needs of children withlife threatening illness or life limiting condi-tions.
Caring for familiesThe organisation is currently caring for
122 families in the northern suburbs, Mfule-ni, Khayelitsha and Vrendenburg fromWelgelegen.WesternCapePremierHelen Zille, who at-
tended the ball along with Tim Harris, headof investment for theCity of CapeTown, saidthis move has been a long time coming asgovernment alone cannot solve the challeng-es faced.“As stipulated by law, we have to utilise
state property for the highest value, but nomonetary value could be placed on the socialvalue a hospice will bring to society,” shesaid.“As government we are thrilled with the
little we can do for this organisation,” saidZille.“It gets to me how grateful you are for this
ramshackle derelict house, while so manyothers who get much more are not gratefulfor it,” she said.Zille said the Western Cape government
spends too much money on health condi-tions, such as HIV/Aids, which is entirelypreventable, while not enough is spent onnon-preventable conditions such as those

dation, pledged R20 000 from the foundation,as well as its unfaltering support.In a message to Iris House, former presi-
dent FW De Klerk stated that the stature of
any society is measured by the care it showsto the least fortunate.“If you, as a parent or grandparent of a
healthy child donate to this cause, perhapsyou should see it as a profound offering ofthanks giving,” De Klerk said.Madeleine Badenhorst, one parent who
benefits from the work Iris House does, saysthe support she has received from them hasbeen life changing.“They have therapists who understand
special needs children and this has liftedmuch of the burden off my shoulders. WhenI don’t have the funds or resources, they stepin at the drop of the hat,” she said.“They truly understand what it is like to

After almost a year away from the stage, Re-burn have emerged from their “writing ca-ve” with a brand new album.The indie rock outfit recently launched
their second album, Majestic, five years af-ter their debut-release, All Tied Up.Frontman Scottie Moore says Majestic is
very different from their first album andthey have started changing some of their ol-der songs to keep them in line with theirnew material.“The sound is a bit more epic, I would say
it’s a bit more mature.” While there is stilla definite indie influence on the album,Scottie points out there are also splashes ofrock and an alternative style to be heard.He says about a year ago the band made
a conscious decision to make music thatthey listen to and enjoy playing.“We wanted to make music that we’re
happy playing, because you are going toplay these songs hundreds of times.”The album was recorded by Heritage
Sound’s Brendyn “Rusti” Rossouwwho gui-tarist, Alex McFarlane, dubs “already a li-
ving legend in the industry”.After working with Reburn on “No Other
Place” and “Won’t Let Go”, their most suc-cessful single to date, Brendyn approachedthem after a show and convinced the bandthe time was right to record a full album.“Hewas actually the driving force behind
this album,” Scottie says.Alex says Reburn are busy finalising the
details for a new music video, but there arealso two other video projects including do-cumentary and outdoor performance foota-ge “in the wings”.They have been confirmed to play Roc-

of 21, is showing a lot ofmaturity in thehexa-gon and is currently unbeaten after threeprofessional fights in the welterweight divi-sion.Some EFC critics reckon this is one of the
best fights they have ever seen.“I feel honoured that people think that.
Myself and Gordon fought hard that night,it was a bloody mess. We stood and tradedstrikes all fight. Gordon, likeme is awarriorand I respect the hard work he puts in.
Great team“My coaches Dean Johnson and Earl Ab-
rahams are great, always pushing me andkeeping me focused. To be a top fighter youneed a great coaching teamand that is exact-ly what I have,” said a satisfied Shaun.
Shaun learned the art of fighting underthe guidance of GrahamTurner. But, for thelast year Shaun decided to join Lethal EdgeMMA and Fitness Centre managed and
coached by Dean Johnson.“Shaun is really growing in leaps and
bounds, he is much more refined and youcan’t help feel excited for what the future
holds for him,” says Dean.“I see him as an accomplished fighter at
21, there aren’tmany that youngwith his ex-perience.”For now, it’s back in the gym training
hard.
In his own backyardShaun trains five days a week for about
four hours a day. Covering all the basics,with no two sessions are the same.“I will love to fight in my own back yard
at GrandWest on 6 November when it’s EFCAfrica 35. I don’t have any specific fighterin mind, that is up to the EFC, so I will waitand see what they offer. My target now is tojust keep fighting in the organisation,” saidShaun.According to Dean, they would love to
have one or twomore fights before consider-ing a title bout.“I think it will be wise to give Shaun one
of two more fights before we start focusingon a potential title fight. Seeing that he onlyhas three professional fights, it only makessense to give him one or two more fights.”Shaun beat Booto Guylain and Saxon De-
lafield in his previous outings.

afternoon,” Snyman said.“The pins were tucked in impossible
spots and because the layout is so open,the wind made the set up even trickier.“You had to pick your lines carefully
to make par and I just focused on notdropping shots. I finally knocked in a twometer putt at the 11th for birdie. Threeholes later, the wrong option cost me ashot though.“I hit a solid tee shot at the par-four
14th, but I went with a gap-wedge to thegreen and the ball cameup just short. Theball caught the fringe and bounced about10 meters back into the fairway and Iwalked off with a five.”He managed to cancel the lone drop
with a great birdie at the 16th to stayahead.“I made a hash of the 16th in the first
two rounds, so I changed strategy andwent with a five-iron off the tee,” he said.“I hit it straight down themiddle of the
fairway and hit a gap-wedge just left ofthe flag. The ball caught the slope perfect-ly and rolled to about four meters fromthe pin.
“I got the pace just right and the ballcaught the top of the cup and dropped inthe cup. I was two shots ahead of Hennieat that stage, but he knocked in a birdieputt at the 18th, so I knew I couldn’t affordanother bogey. I just made sure I got mypars at the last two holes.”Snymanmatriculated last year and has
been campaigningmainly on theWesternProvince Premier Amateur Tour whilehe completes two additional subjects – Bi-ology and Geology – to boost his chancesof qualifying for the college circuit in theUnited States.“This win was quite unexpected and I
am absolutely thrilled,” he said.“The Ernie Els and Fancourt Founda-
tion recently changed to Adams / Taylor-made clubs, so I didn’t have any big ex-pectations.“I’ve been putting in a lot of time with
my coach Paul Mackenzie, but this wasonlymy second tournamentwith the newclubs. I felt really comfortable with theclubs, and it’s very gratifying to get thatfirst big win behind you, especially whenyou’ve put so much time and effort intoyour game.”Du Plessis took sole second on 279 with
