MY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN

There are a lot of goals that I want to challenge myself in the teaching field. I want to make a difference in each student’s life. By showing them why education can make life important of success. As a professional teacher, it is important that I develop content knowledge of the lesson topics and pedagogical content knowledge so that I can relate and teach this knowledge to my students. And this professional development plan is a big help for me to identify my strengths and weaknesses as a teacher and to further develop my knowledge, skills attitude and values to become a 21st century teacher.

In my PDP, I have three types of professional development I need to develop: formal setting, this refers to my personal learning, informal which refers to my teaching skills, and non-formal which refers to my continuous learning.

FORMAL DEVELOPMENT

I want to continue my Master of Arts for I believe that as a teacher, I need to become a lifelong learner. It is important because it is one way of my foundation for broadening understanding and developing my teaching and professional skills. I want also to become proficient in English because this will help me in developing my self confidence in dealing with other professionals and of course to become an effective teacher in terms of communication. Continuing my education in my chosen career is essential to my success. This will also help me to learn the specific things that I need to know to expand my knowledge in a

particular area especially in English. If I will continue my education, I can receive an increase in my salary or I can apply for teaching on a college level that will open up a variety of new doorways for me to expand my career opportunities beyond the classroom.

INFORMAL DEVELOPMENT

In this development, I want also to improve and develop my teaching and the delivery of my lesson. This will help develop my spontaneous and personal abilities of my teaching skills. I want to become effective teacher that is why I need to find different strategies where my students easy to learn the lessons. Getting them involve in a class and encourage them to relate their new skills to their own lives. I want also to explore myself to visits museum, an informal learning of a lifelong process whereby I can acquire attitudes, values, skills and knowledge from daily experience and the educative influences and resources in my environment. Learning materials are important for they can add important structure to lesson planning and the delivery of instruction. They can also increase student achievement by supporting student learning. Learning materials, regardless of what kind, all have some function in student learning. That is why being a teacher, it is a must for me to know everything first before I presents it to my class. If this will apply, I know and I assure that the interaction in teaching and learning in my class will be of success.

NON-FORMAL DEVELOPMENT

For this development, I came up with the idea of seminars and trainings. I believe that teachers are potent factors in education, that’s why they are responsible for shaping the youth through quality education. It is the goal of the Department of Education that every teacher will become efficient and also effective. Today a lot of trainings and seminars are being conducted to improve and develop the craft of each mentor in school. Trainings and seminars on ICT and new methods and techniques in teachings and the likes are being held in different parts of the country so as to prepare all the teachers in globalization. Those trainings and seminars will help me to create an effective learning environment, improve teaching-learning situations, keep updated on modern instructional devices and inspire me to become a teacher in the 21st century. Since the department is offering free trainings and seminars, I must grab this opportunity for my self-improvement especially when it comes to ICT. It will also help me to become up dated to the new trends in my teaching strategies

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN

MARYROSE M.AMUL

Philosophical Statement

I believe that the overall purpose of education is to prepare for the future. The world is becoming more technologically advanced and education is important to completely understand these new concepts.

I hope to be able to touch my student’s lives in a way that when it comes to making a choice, they think of what I have taught them, and make a positive decision. I want to be part of their learning process to help students develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values needed of them in the 21st century education. I would like my students learn in different ways, at different times and for different reasons, so I need to offer activities that give all students opportunities to learn effectively. I will motivate my students by being engaged, being successful, and being encouraged.

Rules and Procedures

The class responsibilities are: be on time, be prepared and be productive. Al students are expected to be polite and respectful to one another- and that includes the teacher. No student will disrupt the learning of his/her classmates. The students will raise their hands if they will ask questions or getting help. When someone is absent, make up any work he/she missed. The students are expected to engage in purposeful activities.

Classroom Arrangement

Students desks Instructional area in front of the room Teachers desk area Computers Group work areas (tables) including small space for instruction Classroom library Whole class meeting area on a rug or carpet Centers Cabinets, lockers

I prefer to plan for the student desk area first, because desks take up the most amount of space and their placement will either enhance or detract from instruction.  The teacher’s desk area is critical because in order for me to stay organized, I have to provide myself with easily accessible storage space around my desk. And of course, I should plan for computer placement before determining my layout for other

elements, because I will probably be limited by the distribution of outlets and internet jacks in my classroom. Once those elements are in place, I can plan an area for my pupils to sit on a rug or carpet, because the rug can be a great place to read a story, have a class problem solving meeting, or teach a lesson in which I don’t want my students distracted by materials in their desks.

Misbehavior Interventions

I will do more to boost students’ interest. ( I will give more opportunities for students to learn) I will be more flexible and alter the lesson if necessary.  (If students get bored with what they are learning)

I will remove distracting objects.(To address this challenge, we rearranged the area and brought in a different table that enabled each student to face away from the window. It also gives me better access to each of the students, so I can more effectively meet their needs and help them stay on task).

Classroom safety

Chairs, wastebaskets, electrical cords, and other articles should not be left where they will become a tripping hazard. Desk drawers, cabinet doors and file drawers should not be left open while unattended. Pull only one drawer out at a time. On all hand-operated paper cutters, the blade shall be left in the “down” position when not in use. Walk slowly and cautiously up and down stairs and use handrail, whenever possible. Do not sit on the edge of a chair. Do not sit in a straight chair tilted back toward or against a wall. Do not sit on students’ desk. Do not stand in front of closed doors, which may open suddenly. All electrical equipment should be turned off when not in use. Always unplug electrical equipment by grasping plug, not cord. Pencil sharpeners should be mounted so as not to protrude. Broken glass and other similar material should be thoroughly wrapped before disposal in waste cans. Promptly report all defective materials that need repair or replacement.

Student Celebration

If my students will attain good results in tests or examinations, I will give him/her a special mention in the class. If my students will behaved or show improvement in their behavior, I will give a special note saying “Keep it Up” and

other positive saying that will make them boost their interest in learning.
