Types of Housing
• Multifamily house is a structure that provides housing for more than one household.
Apartments• Penthouse- suites located at the top of
apartment buildings.
Apartments
• Garden- one-story units with landscaped grounds.

• Efficiency- one main room, a small kitchen area, and a bathroom.
Cooperative• A type of ownership in which people buy shares
of stock in a nonprofit housing corporation.– “buy” their apartment by purchasing shares in the
corporation. You want a bigger apartment then buy more stock.
Condominium
• A type of ownership where the buyer owns individual living space and also has an undivided interest in the common areas
and facilities of the multiunit project.
Townhouse• One of a row of houses connected with
common side walls.
Single-family
• Designed to house one family.
Attached House• Designed for one household but share a
common wall with the houses on each side. Example. Townhouses and row houses.
Freestanding
• Houses stand alone, not connected to another unit.
Freestanding• Custom built- by an architect and a contractor.
Dream House. Expensive and takes a long time to plan and build.

• Owner-built- People with lots of spare time, energy, and building skills.
