The NAB AFL Women's U19 Championships (previously Under 18) are the annual national Australian rules football championships for players aged 19 years or younger.

Originally known as the AFL Youth Girls National Championship, the competition is now entering its 11th year, having recessed in 2020 due to COVID-19.

As part of the Championships in 2021, we are excited to have the AFL Woomeras and Medley’s Programs (National U17 female Indigenous and Multicultural programs) feature in our schedule. Selected from the state pathway programs of Kickstart & All Nations, the programs have been established to provide young First Nations and Multicultural women with the opportunity to develop on and off the football field.

As part of the new model for AFL Talent Pathway Programs announced in September 2020, age groups for all AFL Talent Pathway Programs, including the National Championships, have been re-focused from U16 and U18 Levels to U17 and U19 in 2021.

As it is for players, the NAB AFLW U19 Championships is an important step on the umpiring talent pathway. The Umpires will receive high-level from guidance from a panel of coaches with AFL experience during the championships.

Six female Umpires will officiate, as well as three female Umpire Coaches, exemplifying the emergence of talent across women in football in all areas. We wish all the participating Umpires and players well during the championships and look forward to seeing them develop over the seasons to come.

The NAB AFLW U19 Championships allow up-and-coming umpires from all over Australia to show their potential. Here are the umpires taking charge of this year’s matches.
