Hazing is an Institution Wide Problem

• Hazing is not acceptable in any student organization or team within an educational institution

• The obligation to report – All University Staff and Students have an obligation to

report hazing activities – “All students, faculty and staff must take reasonable

measures within the scope of their individual authority to prevent violations of this policy”

Why You Should Report or Stop the Activity

• You might be ok with an activity, but not everyone is

• You are being lied to– You will not be a better member for it – You will not like the older/active members after it is

over – Everyone isn’t doing it – Its not a real tradition or ritual – The people before you didn’t have it worse than

you

• At some point your organization will be held accountable if it continues

• You can be charged criminally– In Tucson, currently 4 high school students are facing felony assault

charges for hazing on their wrestling team and two are involved in the juvenile court system facing charges
