This document will assist you in understanding the various functions of Enrollment Management as well as provide you with contact information for each specific area.

Before current students are directed to individual areas within Enrollment Management, they should

UAB ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT

The Office of the Associate Provost for Enrollment Management is responsible for the following:

• Oversight of all enrollment management functions, including undergraduate admission, registrar, international recruitment and student services, new student programs, processing operations, financial aid and scholarships and marketing communications for prospective students as well as current student communications as it pertains to Enrollment Management.

The Office of the Registrar is responsible for the following:

• Applications for degree • Forgiveness forms • Residency (Undergraduate) • Exception to policy (Undergraduate) • Academic room scheduling • Undergraduate Catalog • GPS Degree Audit • Pre-requisite overrides for non-degree students • Posting of credit for Alternative Credit Exams (CLEP, DSST, AP, IB, Credit through Prior

Learning and Credit by Portfolio, military credit) • Registration • Academic Records • Class Schedule

UAB ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT Veteran Recruitment and Student Services is responsible for the following:

• Recruits veterans and their dependents to UAB Attending community events involving veterans

• Assists veterans and their dependents with VA educational benefits • Builds and maintains relationships with all military education counselors • Processes and distributes advance payments • Reports all enrollment changes of VA students • Providing Student Accounting with list of Voc Rehab and POST 9/11 students • Maintains and makes available all VA student records for inspection by VA and the State

Approving Agency • Knowledgeable on current VA Rules • Assists VA Certifying Official from other schools for dual enrollment of VA student • Assists VA students with ANGAP, Tuition Assistance, Alabama GI Dependents’ Scholarship,

and Work Study questions • Supports current students that are veterans or their dependents in various situations

International Recruitment and Students Services is responsible for the following:

• Recruiting international students to UAB • International student advising (F-1 student advising, Optional Practical training, cultural issues,

info sessions/orientations) • Work visa (H1-B) and green cards processing and advising, some J-1 visa advising • Tax advising and preparation • J-1 advising and processing, some H-1B work • Admissions communications, some international transfer recruitment

The Testing Center is responsible for the following:

• Institutional Exams - Residual ACT, COMPASS, CLEP, DSST, MAT • National Exams - ACT, APTTP, GRE Subject Exam, LSAT, NBEO, PRAXIS, SAT • Placement Tests - English, English as a Second Language (ESL), Math
