505Conclusion 50811 ContentsChapter 1Let's get acquainted CMS,
SaaS, uCoz I had intended to write that any site rests on three
pillars, but it's not quite true ... In fact, it rests on three
pillars and two turtles. The pillars are the content of the site,
its engine and design. The turtles are the server and the special
software that make up the hosting. With the content it's simple, it
is uefineu by the theme of the site anu may be different: from text
and photos to catalogs and games.Hosting is a place wheie files,
thiough which the site opeiates, aie phys-ically stoieu. A host is
a ceitain space, wheie the files of the site aie iecoiueu, like the
files on youi home computei. The uiffeience lies in the fact that
the website of the host provider can be accessed through the
Internet. The Engine (in the context of a site) is a specially
written program that is used for content management (to insert a
picture you do not have to search through tons of code, as was the
case in earlier times). Its full name is the Content Management
System (CMS). If we seek analogies in the real world, CMS can be
compared to an engine in a vehicle. You get in the car, press down
on the gas pedal and it moves. It's better not even to think about
the physical and chemical processes in the engine that connect the
pressing of pedals to the twisting of the wheels on the asphalt.
The CMS requires just a few clicks on the photos of your choice.
They will subse-quently move to the photo album on the site.
12Previously, the engine was written for each site manually, which
is now piacticeu only if the pioject's oiganizeis set themselves
veiy specific problems. In all other cases ready-made CMS are
used. The appearance of your website is not limited to its design.
It also im-plies usability and well structured pages. No trendy
hosting or conveni-ent engine will save a site with pink text on a
red background and men-us, hidden in the bottom left corner. It is
vital not to neglect appearance. An engine is installed on the host
server, some data is added, everything is neatly sprinkled on top
with a suitable design, and a site is born. Wheie uoes uCoz fit in.
uCoz is a mouein veision of the optimal combi-nation of all the
components named above !On the one hand, it is a host, as uCoz
provides a place for the site and its files. 0Coz pioviues a place
foi the site anu its files. 0coz also incluues a special program
that allows you to easily manipulate the contents of the site. This
combination is known as SaaS Software as a service so simply
calling uCoz a hosting or a CMS is not quite right. This
combina-tion is known as SaaS Software as a service so simply
calling uCoz a hosting or a CMS is not quite right.System Features
When you sign in you will immediately receive: - A name for a site
on the Internet, which you choose.- A place for the site.- A
content management system.- Design templates for the site, as well
as the ability to manage them. - A uNet-piofile.What can you uo
with all these iiches. Well, almost anything. The site may become a
means of presenting information about yourself, your 13 Chapter 1.
Let's get acquaintedcompany, school, your favorite chihuahua, a
source of income, an ad-vertising platform, a gamers room, or a
meeting place for like-minded individuals. What has already been
built with the help of uCozAt the time of this writing, more than a
million sites in 12 different lan-guages have been cieateu using
this system. Among them we can finu the resources devoted to
absolutely any subject. Several areas enjoy special favour among
users of the system. http://advocate.ucoz.comhttp://games.ucoz.com
http://aaawindowsonline.comhttp://myrecipes.ucoz.com14 Chapter 1.
Let's get acquaintedAnd many other wonderful sites. Out of the
modules, which the system provides, you can put together a set
containing exactly what you need. I hope your eyes are already
ablaze, youi fingeis itchy, anu in youi heau uozens of inteiesting
iueas are competing for supremacy in what will become your
site.uNet-account Along with the tools for building sites, after
your registration you will receive a uNet-account and a uID. uNet
is a system of single sign-on. Almost all sites created using uCoz
technologies. Single sign-on is a fea-ture that allows you to go to
different sites using one account, without logging on to each of
them. It is sufficient to entei a useiname anu pass-word for the
site to identify you as a user! It is very convenient. You can
recognize sites that accept the uNet-account via a special icon
next to the login form: The Login for those sites will be your
email address and the pass-woiu the passwoiu you specifieu when
iegisteiing. To uesignate an email address uNet uses the term
uID.http://mugeninvasion.ucoz.com http://www.solsticeunity.com/15
Chapter 1. Let's get acquaintedChapter 2 First steps: registration
and webtopRegistrationWell, you have carefully examined everything
and made the only right decision. If you are reading these lines,
we are almost colleagues site builders. The veiy fiist step to
owning youi peisonal website is iegistiation in the system. To do
this, go to the home page www.ucoz.com. I ask you not to be
surprised with the detailed description of the registration process
you cannot possibly imagine how many letters with the text I cannot
register, help! come every day to the tech support group (and those
only fiom those unfoitunates who aie able to finu the feeuback foim
).The system is available in ten languages: - English- Russian-
Ukrainian- French- Spanish- German- Hungarian- Romanian- Swedish-
ArabicApropos! 16In the Arabic localization, the writing system is
fom right to left.To change the language, you can either go to the
appropriate address or choose a language in the upper right corner
of the screen. Site language and control panels for it may differ.
To register on the main page of uCoz click on one of three options:
With any of them you can go to the page wheie you can fill in this
foim: Let us fill in the fielus step by step. All fielus aie
iequiieu.E-mailThe Login will be your email address. Be sure to
insert the name of an existing auuiess as a confiimation because
the iegistiation will be sent to it. If you uon't confiim youi
iegistiation, you will not be able to woik in the system, and after
some time your account will be deleted. Chapter 2. First steps:
registration and webtop 17Entei youi email auuiess in the
appiopiiate fielu. If it is not iegisteieu with another account a
green check mark will appear on the right, and if the account is
already there a red cross: If you see a red X, it means that you
have already registered in the system. This could happen if you
were previously registered on a site that supports uNet. To find
your password, simply ask for its recovery! To do this, click on
the Lost password link in the upper right corner of the page
www.ucoz.com PasswordThe password can contain Latin characters,
digits, an underscore and a hyphen only [a-zA-Z0-9-_]. The minimal
password length is 6 charac-ters, the maximum 15 characters.
Letters are case-sensitive. Make up complex passwords (alphanumeric
is the most secure). The most secure password would be something
like yhj345HJ7r. The system will not allow you to enter a very
simple password (eg. 123456) and will react to it with the
following message:In this field you must enter a new password, not
the password of your mailbox. The password must be one that you'll
be able to remember. Do not think of a catchy one, which you will
forget the very next day this will lead to avoidable frustration.
WarningWarningChapter 2. First steps: registration and webtop
18Enter the password twice. If your choice is acceptable to the
system two green ticks will be displayed: Employees of the company
will never ask for your password or request you to send it!Name and
Last nameIn the following two fielus you aie to entei youi name anu
suiname as well as indicate to whom they should be visible. You can
hide this information from everyone, choosing Nobody, or allow it
to be viewed only by those people whose accounts you have marked as
accounts of friends. There is a third option show the name to
anyone who wants to view information about your account. Select the
desired option and click on it.NicknameThink of a nickname
(pseudonym), under which you will appear on the system's websites.
This can be any word without spaces, eg. Irishka, Lucky men or
Groz13. In the following fielus you neeu to specify Date of birth,
Sex and Loca-tion. The visibility for date of birth can also be
limited, as well as the visibility of the name. Next enter the
Security code from the image. If the code is not clearly visible,
you can click on the picture to update it. If you entered the code
correctly, a green check mark reappears. WarningChapter 2. First
steps: registration and webtop 19The only thing remaining is to
mark the Terms of use point (put the appropriate tick). The
conditions can be read by clicking on the link in the text after
the checkbox.Fill in the form, click on Registration. A page
appeais asking you to confiim youi email auuiess. Now you need to
login to your mailbox (provided at the time of regis-tration) and
wait for the letter with a uNet Welcome to our commu-nity! theme.
In the letter locate the following lines:Follow the link by
clicking on it or copy it to the clipboard and paste it into your
web browser. Yes, the registration procedure is not really short,
but security comes first! After clicking on the link you will need
to enter data to work with the webtop. This is a very important
step! Through the webtop you manage all your sites (and not only
them).NoteChapter 2. First steps: registration and webtop 20Webtop
a special personal page created for you by the system. Webtop
password make up a password that will protect access to the webtop.
There is the same rule as before: the more complex the password the
better (very important do not forget it yourself). This password is
subject to the same restrictions as the password of an account (it
can contain only Latin characters, digits, underscores and hyphens
[a-zA-Z0-9_-]; minimum length 6 characters, maximum 15 characters ;
case sensitivity is taken into account by the system). The
administrative password must not coincide with the uNet pass-word
it is not safe! Secret question and answer this is the last line of
defense for your account. If an attacker can steal your passwords,
knowing the secret answer, you can reclaim your account, proving
that it is yours. Also, it is necessary for such crucial activities
as removal of an entire site or its parts. You can choose one of
the options proposed by the system, or enter your own. For special
security you can cheat: choose the question asking for mother's
maiden name, and as a response to it enter the number of your
passport. The answer to the secret question will also come in handy
when working with an attached domain, changing security settings
and creating a site backup. Current uNet password here you need to
enter the password of the account that you came up with at the
beginning of the registration.NoteNoteChapter 2. First steps:
registration and webtop 21All the passwords are set click on save.
You'll switch to the webtop.WebtopThe webtop of the uCoz system is
very similar to a conventional Win-dows desktop, because this is a
special type of workspace, a desktop, located on the Internet. You
can access it from any computer that has access to the network.Let
us examine the webtop piece by piece:1. Field, where icons are
located.2. Button for calling the menu.3. Menu.Chapter 2. First
steps: registration and webtop 224. Minimize all windows button on
the Quick Launch toolbar.5. Icon webtop language selection.6.
Information about the session. For more details about the webtop see
the Workspace of the webtop chaptei, but now let's finally get uown
to business cieating youi fiist site. Chapter 2. First steps:
registration and webtop 23Chapter 3Creating a websiteIn order to
create a site just go to the webtop and select the menu item
Websites Create a website. This should open a window in which you
have to choose a name (ad-dress) for the site. The name consists of
two paits: the fiist one you neeu to cieate, anu the second one,
you pick from the list. The name is very important it de-termines
to some extent the fate of the site. Please dont spoil its karma
with ciazy lettei combinations at the veiy fiist stage! 24Within a
single day, you can create only three sites from one account.
Naming a site depends on its purpose. This can help future users to
remember the name. If it is a school site, give it a logical name,
refer-iing to its numbei if it has one as pait of its official
name, foi example, Waterford PS18. If you plan a site for a group,
its name should appear in the title. The minimum length of the
fiist pait of the name is two chaiacteis, the maximum 15. The name
can contain only Latin characters, digits anu uashes. Baving
ueciueu the fiist pait of the name, select the seconu one from the
drop-down list:Specifics to be taken into account when choosing: -
Some endings have a geographic focus. Choose options like ucoz.ua,
ucoz.lv, ucoz.es if you plan a site focused on the Ukraine, Latvia
or Spain, respectively;- some domains like ucoz.com, ucoz.net are
universal, but almost all the interesting options are occupied ; -
Groups often choose the group .su domain. These rules are not
obligatory and you can choose whatever you like. Apropos! Chapter
3. Creating a website 25After you have decided, click on Continue.
If the most appealing option to you is already taken by someone,
you'll see an error message, and have to come up with something
else. If the name is free, you'll see this message:Click on the
Website Control Panel button, to completely activate the site: In
this window, enter: - Site name foi example, '0fficial site of fuel
station N 1S', Eleven horde or Site of John Smith (one or two
words); - Site design click on the [Select design] link, and you
will see more than 200 templates for every taste: Chapter 3.
Creating a website 26You can choose whatevei you like. Be suie to
finu something suitable. In the future the design can be changed
(an entire chapter of the book is devoted to this). After selecting
the desired design, mark it and click OK. Having selected the
design, specify the language for the site. At the time of writing
the book, there were 13 languages available in the system: After
completing all three settings, click Continue. The next step is the
selection of modules for the site. The site will con-sist of
modules that you specify in this step:In uCoz a site is assembled,
like a construction set, from a variety of pieces. To create a
forum it is enough to select forum. Want a Guest-book. Feel fiee to
put a tick next to this option. 0nuei the name of each module there
is a brief description of its purpose.Chapter 3. Creating a website
27I do not recommend activating all modules at once the site will
be overloaded. Choose what you think is really important, and in
the future you will always be able to add or remove something. Make
a choice and click Continue. After that, the system will require a
few seconds to build the site you iequesteu anu you will finu
youiself in the Website Control Panel. An untrained eye could be
confused by the wealth of menus, buttons and labels. Just stay
calm! We'll come to it. The site now exists on the Internet! You
can verify this by typing its address (the one you have chosen) in
the address bar of your browser. Chapter 3. Creating a website
28The site consists of the site itself, a thin strip the adminbar,
for site management, and tool tips in the bottom right corner.
Clicking on a tip, you can read it in its entirety or turn off the
hints on the site. Do not rush to turn these options off you can
learn many interesting things about the system through them.If in
the process of creating the site there was a power failure
(electricity was cut off, you accidentally closed the browser, or
your cat pulled the cord out of the wall outlet ...) and instead of
a site at your_site.ucoz.com. Please visit your_site.ucoz.com/admin
and activate the complete registration option!Although the site is
empty, there is a menu: You can click through its elements, moving
to different pages of the site. While reading the book, always
remember that the location of the described elements may vary
depending on the chosen design. WarningImportantChapter 3. Creating
a website 29The site records statistics, which show that at the
moment a single visi-tor is on the site, and that visitor is you.On
the site there is also a calendar, a block with links and a search
fea-ture.Let's go back to the home page by using the main link in
the menu. Find the [add new entry] inscription on the page: anu
click on it. In the new winuow fill in the entry name and entry
full text fielus.Chapter 3. Creating a website 30Then, ignoiing all
othei fielus, scioll uown to the add button and click on it.
Congiatulations you have just auueu the veiy fiist content to the
site! The system should respond with such a message:Click on Go to
entry page, and you'll see what the news you've added looks like:It
is possible to rate it or to leave a comment click through the
but-tons, explore the site . You are now acquainted with the sit.
Now we will keep at it and get back to the administration panel to
start turning this ersatz into the site of your dreams. Chapter 3.
Creating a website 31Website removalRemoving a site is done from
the control panel. To do this on the main page select the Website
removal menu item: To confiim the ueletion, it is sufficient to
entei the passwoiu of youi account and answer the secret question.
After removing the site, the domain name will be available for
re-registration after an hour. Chapter 3. Creating a website
32Chapter 4Workspace of the webtopIcons on the webtopAnalogues of
these icons are the program shortcuts on a desktop. Immediately
after activation only three icons appear.- My sites a list of all
the sites you have created. To see them, double-click with the left
mouse button. While it is empty now, after you create some sites,
the list will look like this: From this list you can get to any of
the sites listed or enter its admin panel right away for
customization. - Secure login a special form to access the sites of
the system that support uID. It exists, so that fraudsters can't
intercept passwords of the users. If you are afraid of this kind of
fraud, you can visit the sites of the system using a secure login
to the 33webtop. To enter the site, simply enter the address and
click on the Login to the website button. You will immediately be
taken to the site as a user. If the nickname you gave when you
registered is in the system isn't taken you will login us-ing it
and enter: If a user with this nickname already exists on the site,
then numbers will be added to yours and you will be able to replace
it with any other by clicking on the Set nickname line on the blue
bar at the top (userbars): - Create a web site the very icon, which
allows you to acquire your own site. To do this is quite simple.
Click on it:Chapter 4. Workspace of the webtop 34Here you have to
select an address for your future site and click on the Continue
button. You can add other icons to the webtop. To do this, simply
click the right mouse button on the shortcut menu and select the
Add a shortcut option:In the pop up dialog box you enter the type
of the label and its name. There are the following types of labels:
- Create a web site, websites list and secure login form are

Administration is something that, to some extent, all the chap-ters
of the textbook are devoted to. In this chapter we consider the
interfaces for content management, the administration panel and how
to work with it. It's not necessary to investigate this panel
thoroughly, for this there is information in the forum or in the
FAQ of the system. When creating and managing the site the main
thing is not to learn all the checkboxes by heart, but to
under-stand what each one is responsible for where to look for
which settings.Administration panel of the website The
administration panel for the website is its sacred place. No
kidding. From here you can even remove the site. That is why
hackers hunt for a password to it so often. This panel is often
referred to as the Control panel. You can get to the administration
panel in two ways:- By adding /admin to the name of the site in the
address bar, to get http://your_site.ucoz.com/admin ( ), and
entering the password for the control panel and the CAPTCHA (the
numbers from the image) in the window that appears:44- Through the
webtop, clicking on the CP icon opposite of the site's name in the
list of sites:If there is no personal password set for the site,
the password for its administration panel will coincide with the
password for the webtop. In this case, you immeuiately finu
youiself in the auministiation panel. If the site has a personal
password, you must enter it:To set a personal password, see the
Security chapter. The administration panel looks as follows:
Chapter 5. Account Administration 45It can be uiviueu into five
paits.- Adminbar through this menu you can access almost all the
features offered by the administration panel. This part always
remains in its place.- Information panel composed of the following
elements:- Interface here you can choose the color of the
adminis-tration panel, making it, for example, black (as they say,
each to his taste) - Language allows you to select the language of
the admin-istration panel. If you prefer to work in English or
Arabic, select it. The language of the site will remain unchanged!-
Logout returns you to the form for the password. Always close the
administration panel, or exit it after making changes, if you are
not working at your personal computer.- The rectangle in the corner
pointing the cursor to this item, you will see how much space on
the site is currently occupieu by youi files:This part of the panel
always remains in its place.- Column with modules. On the left is a
list of activated modules. Clicking on the name of a module, you
will proceed to its indi-vidual preferences. Using the links below
the list, you can switch between Active and Inactive modules.
Clicking on the arrow to the right of the name of each module opens
a menu allowing you to get uiiectly to a specific section of the
management mouule:Chapter 5. Account Administration 46This part of
the panel always remains in its place as well.- Panel with basic
information about the site. Here the basic information is shown:
your name, address, website, settings for the FTP-client, available
space, as well as a variety of informa-tion from the administration
of uCoz.- Main panel. The largest part of the main page of the
admin-istration panel is reserved for the most necessary and often
called upon functions. Almost all of them are duplicated in the
upper menu. This part of the panel changes when switching to
different functions; it is here where their settings are
displayed.Let's look at what constitutes the top menu, as it
concentrates all the power of the control panel.Common This tab
contains such important and necessary information, as the number of
the server where your site is located (it may be useful in case of
any failure), IP-address of the server, links to the main pages of
the administration panel, and the site itself. In the example in
the picture the site is located on the server s24.Almost every menu
item will be described in a separate chapter of the book, so here I
will just say a few words about what each function is responsible
for and where it is described in full.Chapter 5. Account

items:- Common Settings carefully and thoughtfully read through
them in this chapter below. A great deal depends on these
set-tings;- Substitution of default phrases this feature is
intended to change the majority of system labels shown in the code

site In addition to the administration panel, in the system there
is another very important tool for managing the site the Admin bar.
This panel is located at the top of the site, in the same place
where the ad bar is situated and is visible only to users from the
Administrators group. In the approximation it appears as follows:
Adminbar is very similar to the top menu of the Control Panel. It
also consists of drop-down tabs. General The veiy fiist tab
contains basic infoimation about youi account anu setup for
cosmetic settings. - My profile on tbe site allows viewing your
group, nick, ava-tai, etc. within the site. Foi moie infoimation

appears in the admin bar when viewing the content, if since your
last visit, new comments have appeared. Clicking on the icon you
can navigate to the new comments (see details in the Blog chapter).
User bar The User bar is a very stripped-down version of the admin
bar. By de-fault it is shown for all groups except Guests and
Blocked. This bar is designed to allow the user to manage his
account, add content to the site (if members of his group are
allowed to do this), etc. The user bar may consist of the following
tabs: General Similar to the corresponding tab in the admin
bar.Chapter 5. Account Administration 57Control - My entries
displays a pop-up list of materials of the user, which he/she added
to the site (if he/she is allowed to do it); - My comments displays
a pop-up list of the user's comments, which he added to the site

list of all users; - Send private message a function to communicate
with other site users. Multimedia This tab represents a truncated
version of the corresponding tab of the admin bar. New comments
exactly the same as in the admin bar. Chapter 5. Account
Administration 58Chapter 6Basic tools for working with the siteIn
this chapter, I will introduce and explain the integrated tools of
the system, as well as third-party programs, you cannot do without
when creating a website. Woiking with files In the process of
creating the site you will of course need to add content: be they
your own pictures or music tracks that you want to share with the
entiie Inteinet community. While these files aie on youi computei,
they are not suitable for such things. Each user is allocated a
certain amount of space on the server, to meet their needs. A newly
created site is allocated 400 MB of space and with each second the
quota increases. Let's examine the technical side of the issue: how
to get access to the site, uownloau anu uelete files, etc. FTP This
abbreviation stands for the File Transfer Protocol. FTP does not
imply some sort of weird protocol, but a program that al-lows you
to connect to FTP servers, browse the contents of directories anu
uownloau files fiom the seivei oi uploau them to it. But how can it
help us. veiy simple on youi computei, you acquiie anu install such
59a program, enter data for the connection to it and there you have
it, access to your 400 MB, do with them what you want! Some popular
programs, which are actually called FTP-clients, are: - FAR
Manager; - FileZilla; - CuteFTP; - FTP Commander; - FTP Navigator.
You can also use a simple file managei, such as Total Commanuei,
Niu-night Commander etc. To woik with the FTP-client, you fiist
neeu to choose an FTP-passwoiu on the site. The fiist way is to
click on FTP-details in the header of the administration panel: You
will then see a series of data for the connection and the link
password not set: Click on it and type in any FTP-Password,
according to the rules: Chapter 6. Basic tools for working with the
site 60To save the password, you will also need to answer the
secret question. In future, these data can be viewed through the
link FTP-details. The second way go to the Page editor ( ). Look to
the iight, in the uesciiption of the file managei you will see the
necessaiy options: The password in this case is not shown, but you
still need to remember it. If you forgot your password, change it
in the security tab.Bow to use this uata in piactice. I'll show how
in Total Commanuei as an example. Open the program, select the Net
FTP new connection and enter your settings: If you have entered
everything correctly, then after connecting you will have access to
the files:Chapter 6. Basic tools for working with the site 61To
connect to FTP you must meet the following conditions: - Piotection
piogiams (antiviius, fiiewall) shoulu not piohibit a connection
over the FTP protocol. - Passive mode has to be turned on. File
managerFTP-clients are user-friendly when working with the site,
but not always available. If you are working with the site, for
example, from school or from an institute, making such a connection
on a shared computer is extiemely uangeious! To quickly uploau
files fiom anywheie wheie the Inteinet is accessible, theie is a
built-in file managei (in two veisions, by the way). It can be used
in three ways: - Through the Common settings of the site. - Through
the adminbar in the Tools tab. In this case, the man-ager will open
in a new window. In addition, access is available from the adminbar
of the site through the Control tab. - Through the page editor file
manager tab. Information on the amount of space used is shown, for
example, the numbei of folueis anu files is uisplayeu (in the
heauei of the managei). 0nuei it theie is a list of files anu
folueis. 0pposite each file its size is displayed. Chapter 6. Basic
tools for working with the site 62Actions with files To the iight
of the file oi the foluei a panel, which allows the usei to
manipulate it, is displayed- view file. The file opens in a
sepaiate biowsei winuow. Available foi images anu text files; -
Image HTML code. Opens a window from which you can copy the code to
insert images into the template: ; - Link to the file. A winuow
appeais fiom which you can copy a direct link to the object you're
interested in; - Rename. Opens a window where you can enter a new
filename. Be caieful with extensions if you change them, the file
may no longei open; - Euit file contents. Available foi text anu
BTNL-files. 0pens a special editor;- Remove. Aftei confiiming, the
object is iemoveu fiom the server without the possibility of
recovery. For references like it is better not to neglect the
altfield and enter a description of the picture. 0ploauing files is
uone via the Browse button at the bottom of the page: Beie the path
on youi computei is specifieu, wheie the files foi uploau-ing to
the site are stored, and you click on the Upload file button. For
organizational matters, you can create a folder using the File
manager (in the upper right corner): NoteChapter 6. Basic tools for
working with the site 63Folueis will help you stiuctuie the files.
If they aie all stoieu in the ioot directory then you personally at
some point will become frustrated with disorganized data.
Restrictions- The volume of the uploaueu files cannot exceeu the
space as-signed to you. Over time, it is increasing, but if you
urgently need to increase it, you can purchase additional storage
(see Premium Services). On a paid basis you can obtain as much as
10 GB. - The maximum length of a filename plus extension 4S
chai-acters. - The maximum file size you can uploau 1S NB. 0vei
time, the size also incieases. Stiictly speaking, the size of the
file is pio-portional to the used space and is calculated via the
formula: f (x) = (15 + (85 (x 100) / 1948)) 1024 For an
orientation, Ill provide you with the following data. Maximum file
size for the FTP: - without payment 15 MB; - package 400 25 MB;-
package 800 40 MB;- package 1500 70 MB; - package 2500 110 MB; -
package 5000 220 MB; - package 10000 440 Mb. - 0n one level of
nesting theie may be no moie than 2uu files and folders. - The file
name can contain only Latin chaiacteis, uigits, underscores and
dashes. - Files with the same name will be overwritten. - When you
delete a folder, it is deleted and all its contents are deleted as
well. NoteChapter 6. Basic tools for working with the site 64It is
forbidden to use the site as a file storage system. Such sites are
removed as a violation of the rules of the system. Page content
editorsThere are three ways of populating the pages of the site
with content: - Visual editor. - BB codes panel. - HTML codes
panel. Visual editor It strongly resembles the panel for editing
text in Microsoft Word. In the white box you type text, set its
alignment and formatting. Foimatting is uefineu by the uppei panel:

Basic tools for working with the site 66In the example I added an
entry to the Blog module. Pictuies, viueo anu auuio, as well as
flash-movies aie not visible when editing in the visual editor, but
are displayed on the site. About adding content to the site using
BB-Codes and HTML, see chapter Modules (Adding materials to the
modules). Editing graphics for website design If you plan to auu
pictuies oi flash-movies to the website, iemembei to adhere to
certain rules (here I want to clarify that we're going to talk
about images you display on your site, not about the images that
you will lay out for downloading by other users). Custom design
starts with the header of the site. Everybody wants to make his
own, the greater and more beautiful, the better! You use can
friends skills or your own knowledge of Photoshop, something
en-chantingly-brilliant and ambitious is crafted, then you can
barely shove it into the 15 MB allowed for uploading to the site
and ... No joy here! The pooi site giunts anu is baiely loauing.
Why.You have committed the most common mistake for novice Web
devel-opers. Your graphic is not adapted for the network it is too
large. A picture with a resolution of 300 dpi, which easily opens
in Photoshop, your unfortunate browser may as well choke on it, and
those who use a mouem. Think of them! Youi site will loau one page
in half an houi! Why fiustiate youi auuience like that. For such
incidents not to occur, before putting some images on your site
they must be pre-processed. Chapter 6. Basic tools for working with
the site 67Image formats As elements of design, the following image
formats are allowed: GIF, JPEG, JPG, PNG. If the picture has clear
margins, no smooth transition of colors (eg., logo), it is better
to use GIF or PNG, and if there are transi-tions but no sharp
contours JPEG, JPG or PNG, which will provide the best balance
between size and quality. On this subject there is a lot of
information on the Internet.Do not try to save images in formats
like TIFF, BMP, etc. They will not be displayed on the site. Only
the four formats named above are suitable.Chapter 6. Basic tools
for working with the site 68Chapter 7ModulesuCoz as a construction
setTheie aie many uefinitions one coulu give foi uCoz! It has been
called a hosting system, a CMS, a SaaS. But we know what is hidden
behind all the simple or complex words, a CONSTRUCTION SET. Every
boy and some girls certainly had one in their childhood a beautiful
box where many construction parts were stored. Some of them could
be disassem-bled, others couldn't. Out of these parts one was able
to do anything, combining them according to the personal wishes.
(I, for example, had a LEGO Fire Station, which didn't prevent me
from making dragons and caves out of the cubes). In the same way
from the parts of uCoz modules you can construct everything your
heart desires, in the end getting a site, which will be exactly the
one YOU need. Modules can as well be called Web applications.
Current modules are improving at a regular basis and new ones are
added.Modules Enough of the common woius, let's move on to the
specifics. What tools aie open foi us to builu the site. Apropos!
69When this book was written uCoz contained 20 modules; 12 of them
can be grouped under the general title of content modules. Adding a
content module to the site, you get a full section with a unique
purpose: - Forum allows site users to communicate on a variety of
topics. - Publisher makes it possible to create a set of structured
information on any topic. - Site Catalog here we collect any sites
in a systematic manner. - Site News the most convenient system for
conducting news feed on your site.- FAQ any questions and answers
in a form that is convenient for you. - File Catalog stoiage anu
uistiibution of any files. - Ad Board the formation of a special
set of pages on which messages can be posted. - Blog your on-line
diary. - Photo Albums a place to store photos with commentaries. -
Guest-book a place for feedback on the site, suggestions and
healthy criticism.- On-line games an extensive collection of
flash-games. - E-shop a powerful module for the sales organization
in the network. - Page Editor Management of the site's pages.
Additional modules can help you make your site more interesting and
interactive: - Tests allows you to include a test on the site,
either from the standard collection or your personal one; - E-mail
Forms is responsible for sending various messages within the site;
- Web Polls here you can create any kind of poll; - Tag Board adds
a site form for instant messaging. - Service modules. Chapter 7.
Modules 70- Users uefines what can anu cannot be uone on the site;
man-ages mailing lists, registrations, and avatars; - Statistics
allows to see how many people visited the site, how they interacted
with it, etc. A module on the site can only exist in one copy. You
cannot make two Guest books, two tag boards, etc. A separate
chapter of the book is devoted to each module.Activating the
modules Modules can be Active or Inactive. In the left column of
the control panel only those modules, which are active are visible
and available for configuiation. These are the very modules you
would like to be seen on your site and which you've chosen when
creating the site. If you are only interested in, say, just having
a blog, why clutter up the control panel with the pho-to album or
tag board settings. In futuie they coulu be easily auueu anyway. To
do this, simply navigate to the inactive tab, select the mod-ules
you like and activate them. After that the selected modules appear
in the list on the control panel, anu theii settings become
available. The following figuie shows the just activated Photo
album module.Apropos! Chapter 7. Modules 71Once activated, it
immediately appeared in the menu of the site:This will happen if
you have a standard template menu, which you did not make drastic
changes to. Otherwise, you will have to link them manually.Module
managementAll mouules have geneial anu specific settings. Chapter
7. Modules 72You can control the design of each content module and
its settings sepa-rately. Under Module utilities there are a number
of auxiliary functions. The module can be checkup, that is, open in
a browser and see what it is like. Some modules are not available
for viewing, instead they are provided with a Get the code icon.
Clicking on it, you will receive instructions for further
action.Choosing Uninstall the module, you will uestioy all of its
specific set-tings, and the module will be inactive. To confiim the
ueletion you will be piompteu entei the Answei to the secret
question. This precaution will protect you from accidental
dele-tion or, God forbid, intruders actions. After removing, the
module, it can be reactivated at any time.Design of the modules
Design is primarily determined by the template you've chosen. But
the system allows you to alter it at your own discretion. Changing
the de-sign is based on editing HTML-templates and CSS. Chapter 7.
Modules 73When transiting from any module to the Module design
customiza-tion section, you are taken to the main design settings
menu for all pages of the site.Pages in it are grouped according to
their belonging to different modules. In fact customizing your
website design deserves a separate chapter, so if you want to do it
now, skip to the Design chapter. If you are not ready for such
achievements yet, we will continue. There are many many
in-teresting things here too. Adding material in the module As we
have seen, there are two types of administration: the
administra-tion panel of the site, which should grant access only
to the owner of the account, and the administration directly at the
site itself, without calling on this panel. The password of the
owner of the site is different from that of the site
administrator's password! I describe this in a detailed manner,
because very often users make the mistake of trying to enter the
username and password from the webtop in the site entrance form:
Chapter 7. Modules 74and are surprised when they are not allowed on
the site: When login to the site as an administration-user, is
exactly where you can add, delete and edit entry in the module.
Always keep to using your uID (e-mail address and uNet
password)!Enter the password that you used when registering the
uNet-account. If all data is correct, your status will change from
the status of Guest to Administrator: The appearance of the site
has changed a bit. At the top appears the adminbar described above:
And now let us return to what we entered the site with
administrator rights for: supplementing information into modules.
Depending on the module, the link for adding new data may look
different. Usually it is at the top right of the site and is
enclosed in square brackets: Chapter 7. Modules 75 This link
appears in the Blog module: And this one in the FAQ module:After
clicking on the link an interface for adding content to the site
opens: Chapter 7. Modules 76Do not be frightened by the abundance
of buttons and ticks. It's rather simple. Any optional material is
labeled. You can exercise an option by selecting it from its
related Category. Adding the text itself can be ac-complished in
three ways. To do this, there is a panel with three switch-es. The
selected panel is active at the moment. Visual Editor Even if you
have no knowledge of all the subtleties of page layout for the Web,
you can easily add beautifully structured content to the site using
visual editor. With all its icons, it somehow resembles Word:You
simply fill in the text fielu, make it bolu, italic, choose any
coloi anu font size. Equally fast is drawing tables and pasting
images. And after you save everything you see it on the site in
exactly the same form. Too fast anu not cleai enough. Then look foi

77The HTML-code panelHaving mastered the Visual Editor, you may
want to do something more complicated, such as the addition of
music or video. In this case, you must understand HTML at least in
general terms. Let's start with uefinitions. BTNL is a hypeitext
maikup language, a special foim of text, tables and pictures, which
is comprehensible by browsers. When downloading the page, a browser
interprets the code and properly dis-plays it on the computer
screen. Virtually in every browser you can right-click on the page
and choose View Page Source in the shortcut menu. Usually it looks
very intimi-dating:This for example is just the HTML-code of the
ucoz.ru main page, which you are well familiar with. The basic unit
of HTML is a tag. Tag is a set of characters in angle brack-ets, f.
e.: , , etc. Located on the right and left of the word, tags can
set how it is written: text displays it bold in the browser: text;
text the text will be italic: text; Chapter 7. Modules 78As you can
see, these tags are paired. The opening tag placed before the text,
and the closing means the end of the selection. The tag inserts the
image on the page, and it has options as: , where
http://s0.ucoz.net/img/ma/box_ru.jpg address of the image on the
Internet. The
tag means an empty string. In general, tags are like hieroglyphs,
they are numerous and each has its own meaning. Four of them can be
considered learned! Write them on the add content page to the panel
HTML-code (for the transition to the panel simply click on the
string HTML Codes Panel):Save the changes everything turned out as
planned! The bold text became bold, the italic one italic, and
underneath a picture appeared. There are many thick books devoted to
HTMLmany are very basic with graphics for those who are visually
oriented. You can buy these books in any store or use Internet
resources for further study.Chapter 7. Modules 79BB Codes Panel
BBCode (abbreviated from the Bulletin Board Code) the markup
language used to format messages on many electronic bulletin boards
(BBS) and forums. To format text tags such as tags HTML are used,
but, unlike them, they are enclosed in square brackets. BBCode was
introduced to provide a simple, secure and more limited compared to
HTML way of formatting messages.BB-codes are most often used when
writing posts, but not when arrang-ing a full layout of the text.
So I wouldn't advise to get too involved with them, but for the
overall broadening of your mind the most common examples of codes
can be found in the Appendix. Example text, formatted with
BB-codes:And this is the result on the web page: WikiChapter 7.
Modules 80Other settings of content additionFor those who are
somewhat familiar with HTML, Ill explain some of the settings. If
Substitute line feeds by the tag
is checked, you can write text in BB-code or HTML mode and when
breaking a line the system will au-tomatically add the
tag (equivalent to pressing Enter) after saving. Enable HTML tags
will activate the HTML-markup. If it is not checked, a tag will be
interpreted as part of the text. Consider an example. Enable HTML
tags is checked:If there is no tick, instead of nicely colored text
the following picture will be displayed: Therefore, if you arent
planning to write articles with codes, put this tick. Let's pioceeu
to configuiing basic text. Image you can load images from your
computer to add them to a paper and insert using special codes.
Maximum image size is 2000 KB. Allowed formats are GIF, JPEG, PNG
(for more information about graph-ics for the network, see the
chapter Basic tools for working with the site). Download the
desired image via the Browse button .... You get its code and size.
Chapter 7. Modules 81$ IMAGE1 $ is the image code. 400 500 the
pixel size, to which the image will be reduced, if it was larger.
If the image was smaller, its size will not change. Bow to use this
coue. In the visual euitoi, paste it in the text wheie the image
should be. This is a convenient way to insert images into the
article, but along with it, you can use the tag in HTML or [img] in
BB-codes.The following fielus aie piesent in some mouules, in
otheis not. It depends on what you are adding: an article to the
articles catalog, a re-cord into the Blog, photos to the Photo
album, etc. Foi a catalog of aiticles, foi example, the following
set of fielus is uisplayeu: Chapter 7. Modules 82- Link to entry
source if you are adding content written by another author, please
indicate where you got it; - Entry added by data about the person
under whose name the publication will be added. By default its your
name. But you can choose any othei usei, finuing him by nickname.
If the option Entry is not available for viewing is chosen, the
content wont be visible to anyone except the administrator and the
modera-tors. This makes this material a draft you can work with it,
see how it looks on the site, change something. However, users will
not see the process of changes until you remove the tick.By
selecting the appropriate checkbox, you can allow or disallow
com-ments on the article. Edit Entry After adding any content it
can be edited. In the upper right corner there is a tiny triangle,
clicking on which you can access a small man-agement menu. The menu
consists of four elements . - Entry tags. In this context tags are
not codes, but special words to describe the content of the
material. - Counters managements you can change the rating and the
number of views. - Edit you can change text and image, as described
above. - Remove when clicking, the paper is removed
permanently.Chapter 7. Modules 83Chapter 8Page EditorThe fiist
mouule, which we take a closei look at, is Page euitoi. It seives
to integrate the site into a coherent whole. With this module you
can create pages with arbitrary content. Its settings affect the
key aspects of the site's management. The fact that the main page
of the site is deter-mineu exactly by this mouule, alieauy
testifies to its impoitance. When creating a new site through the
webtop, at the step of module selection the page editor is selected
by default. Pages of this module differ from the pages of other
modules, mainly because their content is not iegulateu by the
system. I'll explain: pages of the blog you fill with records,
pages of the photo album with images, but here you can cre-ate a
page with anything you like. By default on the site you will see
two pages, the appearance of which is determined by the page editor
module: - main page (it is completely empty);- site info. 84Once
logged in as administrator, you will see a slightly different
picture. For example, the page site info will look like this: At
the very bottom, below the text, icons for page content management
are displayed. Using them, you will be able to make any changes to
the text. Note that in this way only the contents of the page can
be changed! The menu's, right-and left-hand columns' and page
header's looks are set under site design customization (for details
see the Design chap-ter, but it's better to do it later, after
learning how to work with the con-tents.) In uCoz the contents of
the site is separated from its appearance, which allows you to
easily change one without affecting or recasting the other. Chapter
8. Page Editor 85Module design customization So, for content
management the following icons are used : - Edit in Visual Editor.
- Edit in HTML Editor. - Remove. Clicking on the fiist icon in the
foim of eyes, you'll be taken to the con-tent management page: At
the very top is a box called Page name, now it says Site info, but
you can write in any other text. After saving the new name will
appear in the menu instead of the old one.Below is a huge white box
dedicated to page content. The text in this fielu is foimatteu
using the Visual editor. You can immediately see it in the way it
will be on the site. Type in any text. If you want something to be
Bold, click on the icon with the letter B . To align the text in
the center, select the alignment icon . Nany configuiation settings
aie similar to the ones of a common text editor such as MS Word (to
get to know all the subtleties of visual editor in detail, see
Basic tools for work-ing with the site virtually all of its
features are described there). It is not recommended to copy
already colored and formatted text from Word into the visual
editor! In this case, all the invisible setting will be Chapter 8.
Page Editor 86copied to and this can clog the code, which can mean
that you may not manage to stay within the allocated number of
characters. Yes, there is a limit of 60 000 characters (it is
approximately 20 pages of A4 format) to the length of the text.If
you need to place an even greater text, split it into several pages
still, no one will read it in one sitting. Under the text box the
following settings are placed: - Add-ons consisting of two buttons:
Widgets and Gadgets. With their help, you can add already made
programs decorat-ing your page's body. For example, calculator,
weather forecast, mini-game, and many more. To learn more about
Widgets and Gadgets, see the Multimedia chapter. - Images by using
the Browse button you can upload images to the text. The only
allowed formats are GIF, JPEG and PNG. You can insert images
anywhere in the message, using special codes $IMAGE1$, $IMAGE2$,
$IMAGE3$ etc. Chapter 8. Page Editor 87To add one more picture
click on the button with a plus sign. In the visual editor this
code will look as follows: You can align the picture in the text in
three ways: - left $IMAGE1-left$; - right $IMAGE1-right$; - center
$IMAGE1-center$. Max. Size of the image restrict the maximum size
of the loadable images. Bimensions aie specifieu in pixels. The
system automatically ieuuces laige images to fit youi neeus. In
this case, clicking on the im-age, the visitor can see it in full
size. The following are two Options for the content: - Page content
is temporarily unavailable if you activate this option, instead of
the contents of the page users will see the inscription:
Information on this page is temporarily una-vailable. Please accept
our apologies. This option makes sense, if you alter the page and
do not want users to see the process works. - Apply personal
template to the page this setting will make the page totally
unique. For example, all pages are created us-ing the page editor,
will be gray with a left menu and the page for which you activated
a personal template will be pink with a menu in the header of the
site. Typically, personal templates are used for the main page, to
make it unique, memorable, or Chapter 8. Page Editor 88use as an
intro on the site. There cannot be more than 20 pages with a
personal template.- Groups that have access to this page You can
restrict ac-cess to the site, prohibiting certain groups of users
to view it. When attempting to go to the page this group will see
such a warning: Guests are prohibited from viewing this page.
Please, authorize yourself. For this warning the access denied page
is responsible, you can edit its content using the Template editor
(for details see the Design chapter). What coulu theie be on such a
seciet page. Well, foi example, you have a school site, and you can
make a page with answers for the test avail-able only to users of
the Teachers group (creation of such a group, see the Users
chapter). After clicking the Save button, a window will ap-pear
with the inscription Entry successfully saved. Click on the [Go to
entry page] link and you will see the result of the changes:The
text appears exactly as it looked in the visual editor, and instead
of the $IMAGE1$ code an image appeared. If you have the desire to
edit entry in HTML-codes mode, click on the icon in the form of
lines of code under the text to get to the exact same interface as
the one we have just discussed. The only difference is that instead
of visual editor there will be the control codes
panel:WarningChapter 8. Page Editor 89Administration of a module
You can get to the administration panel of the module by clicking
its name in the left column with a list of modules:The panel looks
as follows: Let's examine it with a dedication to detail, so as to
study only the differ-ences in the remaining modules.Chapter 8.
Page Editor 90The panel consists of three parts. At the top the
homepage of the mod-ule is shown. Because the home of the page
editor module coincides with the main page, you will see
http://your_site.ucoz.com. Below is the information about how much
space there is on site at the moment, and how much it is alieauy
occupieu with files. In the top iight coinei the name of the module
is displayed. Beneath it is a reference to the inter-face for
adding another page to the site.In the bottom part of the control
panel is Module management, con-sisting of links to the sections
that allow you to manipulate content and settings of the module. The
lowermost part is Module utilities. In the page editor there are
two utilities:- Module checkup takes you to the main page of the
module; - Uninstall the module after removing, all the module's
set-tings are reset, and it goes into the inactive modules column.
Consider the subsections that make up the Module management
section.Manage Pages Site This section is intended to create new
pages and manage existing ones. Chapter 8. Page Editor 91The
control panel section is as follows: Top right is the add page
button. Clicking on it brings you to the inter-face, which is
identical to the page editor window in visual editor mode, which we
covered earlier in this chapter: Under the button two drop-down
lists follow that allow to separately output active and inactive
pages of different modules (in the page ad-ministration mode you
can switch between different modules). An active page is a page
visible to users; an inactive page is a draft vis-ible only to site
administrators. Chapter 8. Page Editor 92Next is a list of pages
that are created using the page editor. By default, there are three
pages: - main page; - site info; - contact us. The fiist two aie
visible on the site, anu the thiiu one will be available only after
the activation of the E-mail Forms module (for details see chapter
E-mail Forms). Each page has: - ID a unique number. Numbers can be
out of order, if you delete the third page, the one added next will
be the fourth, not third. If a page is not active its ID is
highlighted in red; - page name the name that will be displayed in
the menu and the page title;- Files links to the page attached to
the picture;- Date date and time of adding the page.Clicking on the
[Edit information] link, you get to the editing page con-tent
interface. In the last column the following icons are displayed: -
( ) go to page; - ( ) Edit entry; - ( ) remove (if the cross is
gray, the page cannot be deleted). If you add or edit a page with
the Apply personal template to the page option activated, an icon
will appear in the column ( ), allowing to uefine this same pattein
foi the page as well (foi uetails see the 'Design chapter).Opposite
the name of each page, there is an underlined plus icon. It allows
you to create subpages attached to the current page. Subpages
differ from the other ones only by the presence of a parent
page:Chapter 8. Page Editor 93In the menu on the site it will look
like this: In the auministiation panel subpages aie iuentifieu by a
tab anu a giay pointer from the parent page: File manager Second in
the Module management section is the File manager refer-ence. It is
uesigneu to uownloau anu manage files on the site (foi ue-tails,
see the Basic tools for working with the site chapter). In
addi-tion to the manager on the page there is a link to the
FTP-details, which you will neeu if you want to woik with files via
thiiu-paity FTP-clients. Chapter 8. Page Editor 94Common
settingsThe General Settings of the Module management section are
the same settings that you used to create site. They can also be
called from the admin bar settings tab. We covered these options in
detail in the Account Administration chapter. Module design
customization The Module design customization options will guide
you to the general site uesign configuiation inteiface. The 'Design
chapter is devoted to this issue.Adding static page to uCoz In
addition to the pages that are created using the modules, pages
with the extension *. html (or *. htm) can also be added to the
site. This is a static page of absolutely any appearance and
content. It is not subject to the restrictions on the number of
characters. This page can be created in any editor, such as
Dreamweaver or even Notepad. To be added to the site, this page
shoulu be uownloaueu using file managei.Chapter 8. Page Editor 95In
what scenaiio might you neeu such a page. Foi example, if you neeu
to add a huge public document that cannot be broken into parts. In
other cases it is better to create a page with the page editor
module. For static pages the system codes and the uCoz visitor
counter won't work.Let me remind you that if a site consists only
of HTML-pages, it could be removed from the system as inactive!
NoteChapter 8. Page Editor 96Chapter 9UsersBo you neeu useis on the
site. }ust uo not confuse useis with visitois. A visitor is any
person who opened your web site in his browser. The presence of
users however implies a registration on the site, or the means to
access it using his or her own login and password: What is the
significance of the existence of useis. 0sually they have more
rights than the guests. The presence of users on the site involves
interactivity: comments to materials, discussions in the forum all
that is impossible without the users. The most that ordinary
visitors can do is to leave a message in the guestbook or contact
administration via the feedback form. This you can do without the
login and password. Online Business Cards can do very well without
users. They do not in-volve any communication and exist only to
convey some information to the public in the most simple of
ways. When creating a site, the users module is enabled by default,
and for the account holder an administrator-user is immediately
created. To enter your own site as administrator, you simply enter
your email address and password from the uNet-account (ie., global
login and password). 97Registration on the site Registration on the
site can be done in two pure and one mixed form. By default, when
registering, a user creates himself a uNet-account. Then with the
existing login and password, he cannot just go to your site, but
also to any other site, created in uCoz (if the owner of this site
did not specify any other way of registration). In the settings you
can allow local users then the user registering on the site, will
receive a login and password, but they will only act within this
site. In this case the registration on the site will be a mixed
one: it will be possible to enter using the global uNet password or
using a local one. Accordingly, the users will divide into local
and global ones. However, with the global user, you cannot manually
change the password and piofile settings, he iegisteieu in the
global account, as you can uo with a local one (though changing
user settings yourself is not a very good thing to do
anyway).Module management The Users module has a unique set of
settings and is not like any other. At the top, information on the
module is displayed its address (as Chapter 9. Users 98in itself
the users module does not have an address, the main page's address
is displayed here), the total number of registered users and
in-formation on the last one who registered.Search users by nick
name will output the following information: All parameters that are
displayed here, we will be examined just below. In the upper right
corner there is a link to manually add users to the site. This
feature may be required if the registration on your site is closed,
and all users you add personally. This option may make sense for
example, you do not intend regular users to be on the site, but
want to auu some auministiatois, who will woik on filling the site
with you. List of users shows all the registered ones: This option
has the following items:- ID a unique user ID; - User name (login)
aka nickname, which will stand next to the comments and user's
messages. If there is a blue star after the name, its a global user
(i.e. , he has a uNet-account). You Chapter 9. Users 99can change
the login by clicking on the blue square at the end of the line; -
Reg. IP the IP-address from which the user registration on the site
took place; - Group usei's gioup, uefining his iights on the site.
uioup can be changed by selecting an option from the drop-down
list; - Full name full name, if he specifieu it; - e-mail user's
e-mail address; - avatar a smaller version of the avatar, if the
user has chosen one. There follows a column with three icons: -
this picture is only for local users, clicking on it allows the
user to set the new password. It may be necessary if the user
forgot his password and cannot ask to send it to his e-mail. As
mentioned above, global users can not change the password, since it
acts not only on your site; - piofile settings. Beie you can change
uenuei, Avatai, etc.; - remove user. It only works with local
users. You can simply ban a global one, to teach him. Why. Because
theie is a global account, regardless of your site. User groups
