Types of Professional Development Offered by SwISTEM

• Continuing education courses with emphasis on cutting edge pedagogical practices aligned the K-12 Indiana Academic Standards

• Professional development tailored as train-the-trainer opportunities for adults mentoring student-participants in SwISTEM outreach activities (e.g. SeaPerch, Tri-State Science and Engineering Fair, FIRST LEGO League)

• One-on-one, on-site curriculum and instructional assistance to complement the efficacy of the SwISTEM Equipment Lending Service.

• Pre-service teacher training in partnership with the USI Teaching Eagles Program.

The purpose of the Teaching Eagles

Scholarship Program is to increase the number of

content-rich, classroom-ready science and

mathematics teachers graduating from USI.

Patrons of the equipment lending service are given access to curriculum consultation and on-site instructional assistance by SwISTEM personnel and college faculty.
