    PROSPECTUS FOR THE SESSION, 2014-2015

    1. THE UNIVERSITY

    The Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) was established in the year 1962

    under the provisions of the Orissa Act, 20 of 1961 and has the triple functions of teaching, research

    and extension education.

    The University offers education at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels in Agriculture,

    Horticulture, Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Agricultural Engineering and Technology,

    Fishery Science, Home Science & Forestry in the semester system. Research and Extension

    programmes are carried out at the Regional Research & Technology Transfer Station (RRTTS) and/or

    Sub-stations/Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) located in different parts of the state.

    The University campus at Bhubaneswar is an academic complex of colleges and

    post-graduate departments, having highly qualified faculty. It has an agricultural research

    farm, a forest research farm, a dairy farm, a poultry farm, a Teaching Veterinary Clinical

    Complex and an Engineering Workshop. There is a Central Library with a large number of

    books, periodicals and with book-bank facilities for students. Besides hostel accommodation,the University has a health centre along with a sports complex consisting of playgrounds and

    a gymnasium with multigym facility.

    The University has Students' Counseling Centre, University Employment Information and

    Guidance Bureau, Communication Centre, Research Farm, Instructional Farm, Instructional

    Live Stock Farm, Educational Museum and many more opportunities to advance the skill and

    talent of the students. Internet facility is provided to all the students admitted to professional

    courses.

    The graduates of the University have employment scope in private and Public SectorUndertakings, Corporate houses and Nationalized Banks, besides Govt. Departments. Some

    of the enterprising graduates of the University have also started their own enterprises. There

    are also Placement Cells in respective Colleges. Internet facility is provided to all the

    Colleges, Hostels, and Central Library.

    3.1 The seats reserved separately for SC & ST candidates are not interchangeable.

    3.2 The SC, ST, Green Card Holders and Physically Disabled candidates with minimum40% disability certificate to be issued by a Medical Board will also be considered withthe General candidates for admission on the basis of merit besides their claims forreserved seats as per their choice.

    3.3 The reserved seats for SC & ST candidates, Green Card Holders, Physically Disabledcandidates, ICAR/VCI nominees falling vacant after the due dates shall be de-reservedand filled up by unreserved candidates on the basis of merit.

    3.4 For admission into B.Sc. (Hort.) two seats for SC candidates, one seat for STcandidate, one seat for GCH candidate, five seats for unreserved candidates undergeneral seats and one seat for SC candidate, five seats for unreserved candidatesunder cost sharing seats shall be reserved for candidates of Western Odisha.Candidates claiming for such reservation shall submit the permanent residentialcertificate issued by a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tahasildar of his/hernative area. In case of non-availability of suitable candidates, the seats will be de-

    3.4.1 In the event of non production of all original required documents at the time of his /herterm of admission / counseling, he / she will not be allowed to take admission .

    3.5 Over and above the intake capacity and subject tothe fulfilling the minimum eligibility in Sub-Clause 2.1

    3.5.1 15% of the seats be made available for Foreign Candidates.

    3.5.2 One seat will be made available for the Children of the Kashmir Migrants in each

    College. The candidate has to produce the domicile certificate from the District

    Magistrate, Govt. of J&K, in the Kashmir Division within whose jurisdiction his/her

    parents had ordinarily resided during 1st January, 1980 and 31stDecember, 1989

    by five years. Selectionof the candidates for admission shall be based on the merit

    (Weighted Score).

    3.5.3 10 (ten) seats (Clause 3) in Agriculture/ Horticulture and Fishery shall be made

    available for State Government of Odisha Sponsored VAW/LVAW/Gardener/Fishery

    subject to fulfilling the minimum qualification of +2 Science, out of which 2 seats in

    each Colleges i.e. College of Agriculture, Bhubaneswar, College of Agriculture,

    Chiplima, College of Agriculture, Bhawanipatna, College of Horticulture, Chiplima and

    College of Fisheries, Rangeilunda, Berhampur are available for admission. The names

    on seniority basis alongwith the place of study of the sponsored candidates be

    submitted by the concerned Government Department which should reach the

    Registrar, OUAT before the last date of admission.

    3.6 Candidates seeking admission under Foreign Quota under Sub-Clause 3.5.1 / NRI

    Quota (Clause-3) shall be required to produce the Xerox copies of VISA and PASS

    PORT of themselves or of the sponsoring persons (Parents/nearest relatives) which

    are at least valid till the last date of admission. The above Xerox copies should be

    submitted to the Registrar, OUAT, Bhubaneswar along with a sponsorship certificate in

    the prescribed format (Annexure -III) from the sponsoring person and should besubmitted alongwith Form B. Photo copy of VISA & PASSPORT should be submitted

    along with in its English version. The candidate should produce the Permanent

    Residentship Certificate from the NRI Sponsorer of the respective country where he is

    residing at present .

    4. SELECTION PROCESS

    There will be a COMMON ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONfor selection of the candidates

    for admission into B.Sc.(Ag), B.Sc. (Forestry), B. Sc. (Horticulture), B.F.Sc., B.V.Sc. &

    A.H., B. Tech. (Agril. Engg.) and B.Sc.(Home Science) courses. The candidates for

    admission will be selected solely on the basis of Merit (Weighted Score) which is based

    on his/her academic career performance, Entrance Examination and Extra curricular

    activities. If two or more candidates secure the same computed score, the tie shall be

    resolved and their merit positions will be decided on the basis of higher marks in the

    Entrance Examination or +2 Science/equivalent or HSC/equivalent in that order

    The candidates seeking admission into B.Sc (Forestry) Course should qualify

    Physical Endurance Test to be conducted before counseling of each category. To

    appear at Physical Endurance Test, the candidates should posses the minimum

    physical standard as follows.

    Eligibility requirement

    1) Height i) Male (General & SC) = 163cm.,ST = 152cm

    ii) Female (General & SC) = 150cm., ST = 145cm

    2) Chest girth i) Male = 79cm to 84cm (Minimum 5 cm. expansion)

    ii) Female =74cm to 79 cm (Minimum 5 cm. expansion)

    3) Physical capacity for Fast walking in four hours :-

    i) Male = 25km ii) Female = 14km

    4.1 Entrance TestThe Entrance Examination will be of objective(multiple choice) test for 200 marksof

    two hours duration and the medium of Examination will be English. The subjects

    of examination and marks distribution are indicated below.

    Candidates are to answer Physics, Chemistry and either Mathematics or Biology.

    4.2 Weightage to Academic Career and Entrance Examination:

    Weighted score of candidates will be calculated on the basis of his/her academiccareer and Entrance Examination as given below:

    4.6 Illustration for computation of weighted scoreIf a candidate has secured 58% marks (excluding Extra Optional marks) in H.S.C./equivalent, 67% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Physics, Chemistryand Biology in +2 Science and 123 marks out of 200 in the Entrance Test, his/herweighted score is 0.25X 58+0.25 X67+ 0.25X 123 =62.00.

    In addition to the above weightage , if the candidate has passed NCC 'B' Certificate,

    he/she gets an additional weightage of 6.20 (i.e. 10% of 62.00) and his/her finalweightage score becomes 62.00+6.20=68.20.

    5. HOW TO GET PROSPECTUS & APPLY

    5.1 The prospectus may be downloaded from the universitys website at

    http://ouat.ac.in. The candidates desirous of applying for the Common entrance

    test have to visit www.onlinesbi.comand apply online before the scheduled date .

    For details please refer Annexure-I. The applicants details will be available to the

    University only on successful payment of application fee. On successful payment a

    reference number is generated and printed on the e-Receipt, which the candidate may

    quote for all future correspondences if any with the University. For sample copy ofe-Receipt, please refer at Annexure-II. The data submitted online on this webpage will

    be used to generate Form-A-cum-admit Card, to be downloaded by the applicant from

    Universitys website in between 30.04.2014 to 25.05.2014 in two copies and bring with

    him while coming to appear at the Entrance Examination and has to put his signature at

    appropriate place in the presence of the invigilator and hand over one copy to the

    Invigilator.

    Form B appended at the end of this prospectus for furnishing details of academic

    qualifications etc. of the candidate should be submitted separately as mentioned in the

    prospectus and / or notified otherwise.

    5.2 Candidates awaiting for their results of +2 Science/equivalent examination are also

    eligible to apply for appearing at the Common Entrance Examination for admission into

    the U.G. Courses, anticipating their success in the +2 Science/ equivalent Examination.

    5.3 A candidate is required to apply once irrespective of number of U.G. Courses (as

    mentioned under Sub-Clause 2.1) for which he/she wishes to be considered for

    admission.

    5.4 The data obtained from the candidate while applying online using www.onlinesbi.comwill be used for the purpose of Entrance Examination. Hence the applicants are advisedto submit data accurately as required while applying online. While applying online, thecandidate has to pay Rs. 800.00 to the University besides bank chargesas specifiedby the Bank depending upon the mode of payment selected. Candidates are advised toapply online and pay the application fee before the due date.

    Hard copy of application in any form should not be sent to OUAT except Form- B.TheUniversity will not accept any physical application supported by Bank Drafts etc. for theEntrance Examination purpose. The University will not be liable for refund of applicationfees deposited by the candidate in what so manner after the last date specified foronline application.

    6. SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION

    6.1 Submission of Application Form "A"-cum-Admit Card :

    The Form A-cum-Admit Card, has to be downloaded by the candidate from the OUAT

    website according to sub cluse-5.1 . He/She has to print out two copies of the same

    and bring to the examination hall , without which the candidate will not be allowed to

    appear at the examination.

    The candidate has to put his/her signature at the places specified for, before the

    invigilator and hand over one copy to the invigilator . Second copy of the Form A-cum-

    Admit Card may be retained by the candidate for his/her future reference.

    (a) One recent passport size photograph duly pasted (not stapled) at the appropriate

    place of Form A-Cum-Admit Card.

    (b) The candidate is directed to carry with him any of the following documents in original

    and a photocopy thereof for identification/verification and record..

    (i) Voter ID Card

    (ii) Driving Licence

    (iii) Pan Card

    (iv) Student Identity Card with photograph issued by the School/College last

    attended

    (v) Passport

    (vi) Adhar Card

    (vii) Nationalized Bank Passbook with photograph

    (b) Copy of e-receipt generated from State Bank Collectafter applying online as a proof

    of successful payment of application fee should be brought by the candidate for

    verification.

    NB : The candidate need not put his/her signature anywhere on the Application Form

    A-cum-Admit Card. He/she shall put his signature at appropriate place(s) before the

    Invigilator only.

    106.2 Submission of Application Form-B for admission.

    The Form-B should be downloaded from the OUAT website http://ouat.ac.in.and befilled up and sent along with the enclosures (as per the check list) mentioned below byRegistered Post/ Speed Post / Courier Service to the Asst. Registrar(Academic),Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology, Bhubaneswar - 751003 in aplainenvelop superscribing FORM B, OUAT U.G. ENTRANCE EXAMINATION, 2014-15 on the top of the envolpe, so as to reach the University Office on or before

    15.06.2014 or within 15 days from the date of publication of the results of Annual +2Science Examination, 2014, which ever is later.

    NB : No application should be received by person or in any manner .CHECK LIST

    SELF SIGNED PHOTOCOPIES TO BE ENCLOSED WITH FORM B:(As relevant in individual cases)

    i) H.S.C/SSC/ equivalent Examination Certificate,ii) Date of Birth Certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended, in case the same

    is not mentioned in the HSC/SSC / equivalent examination certificate.ii) HSC/SSC/equivalent Mark Sheet and +2 Science Mark Sheet.

    iv) SC/ST Certificate from a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tahasildar.v) Permanent Residence certificate of parent in Odisha in case of those not having Odia

    as M.I.L {(See Sub-Clause 2.2 (ii)}.OR

    Service Certificate of parent from the Head of the Office / Institution where the parent isserving in case of those not having Odia as M.I.L.

    ORCertificate from the District Magistrate of the concerned District in case of personresiding permanently outside Odisha and not having Odia as M.I.L. {(See 2.2 (iv)}.

    vi) One passport size photograph of the candidate of the same negative as was enclosed

    with the Application for Entrance Examination (Form "A"-cum-Admit Card ). *

    vii) Certificates / Documents relating to Special Claims like Sports / NCC / NSS.viii) Green Card / Physical disability certificate from the competent authority for therespective reserved category.

    ix) A self addressed unstamped envelope (23 x 10 cm).x) In case of Foreign / NRI Candidates, Xerox copies of valid VISA and PASSPORT in

    English version along with the sponsorship certificate in the prescribed format (asannexure-II) from the sponsoring person with signature and proof of permanentresidentship certificate of the sponsorer. (as per clause 3.6)

    * 5 copies of said passport size photograph be retained with the candidate forfuture use at the time of admission.

    6.2.1 The invisible photo copy of mark sheets if any are received will not be taken into

    consideration.N.B. :In no circumstances the documents submitted by the candidate with Form-B

    shall be returned in what so ever the case may be.

    6.3 SPECIAL INSTRUCTION TO CANDIDATES

    6.3.1 The candidates must send application Form B duly filled in all respectsufficiently ahead of the closing date to ensure receipt by the due dates (SeeSub-Clause 6.2)

    6.3.2 They must submit Form-B only after appearing at the Entrance Examination.

    6.3.3 They must write the Entrance Examination Roll Number at the appropriate place in the

    form-B.

    6.3.4 Incomplete Form-B applications in any respect is liable to be rejected.6.3.5 No application shall be received after the closing date.

    6.4 The ICAR/VCI nominees/Foreign candidates/State Govt. Sponsored Candidates to beadmitted against reserved seats will pay the Application Fee and fill up the Form-B ofthe application at the time of their admission.

    7. ENTRANCE EXAMINATION:

    7.1 Entrance Examination will be held at the places indicated in Clause-20 of thisprospectus..

    7.2 Form A-cum-Admit Cards will be available at OUAT website http://ouat.ac.in from30.04.2014 till the date and time of Entrance Examination which may be downloaded bythe candidate for their use. No request for change of Centre will be entertained under anycircumstance. The University, however, reserves the right to change the Centre preferredby a candidate, if required. No admit cards will be sent to the candidates separately.

    7.3 Entrance Examination Discipline

    7.3.1 No Candidate will be allowed to enter the Entrance Examination Hall after 15 minutesof the commencement of the Examination.

    7.3.2 The candidate will be required to stay in the Entrance Examination Hall till the Examination is over.

    7.3.3 They must bring with them a SOFT (H.B.) PENCILfor marking the answer sheet.

    7.3.4 Disfiguring of Answer paper in any manner or putting any sign/ identifying mark etc.will make the answer paper liable to rejection.

    7.3.5 Adopting unfair means or indulging in any objectionable conduct in the Entrance

    Examination Hall will make the candidate liable to be debarred from the Entrance

    Examination.

    7.3.6 The Result of the Entrance Examination shall be available in the Website ouat.ac.inbefore issue of Intimation letter.

    8. ADMISSION

    8.1 A merit list of the candidates category wise will be prepared basing on the weighted

    score (as under Clause 4) for all the U.G. Courses listed under the Sub-Clause 2.1

    and will be uploaded on OUAT website. Admission will be made through Counseling

    (Clause -3) strictly according to the merit subject to eligibility .

    8.11 All the candidates admitted into any Under-Graduate Course shall submit a MedicalFitness Certificate in the prescribed format (Annexure-IV)from a Govt. Medical Officer /Regd. medical practitioner not below the rank of Asst. Surgeon at the time ofadmission.

    8.12 The original documents like CLC, Conduct Certificate and Migration Certificatesubmitted by the candidates will not be returned to them in any circumstances.

    8.13 If a candidate belongs to more than one category, he/she can attend the counselingcentre until he/she gets admission. A candidate can exercise his/ her option only once.His/her name will be deleted from the merit list, once he/she takes admission to anyparticular course, he/she will not be considered for admission subsequently.

    8.14 If a candidate for admission is found to have indulged in ragging and expelled in the

    past or if it is noticed later that he / she is indulging in ragging, the admission will be

    refused or he/she will be expelled from the University / College.

    9. ACADEMIC SYSTEM

    9.1 The minimum residential period for Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering,Forestry, Fishery, Home Science will be four consecutive years, whereas it will be fiveconsecutive years in Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry.

    9.2 Course Programme, Instruction and Examination

    9.2.1 The instruction shall be offered in English under Course Credit System. For Course

    Programme of each Degree, syllabus has been formulated for different courses

    carrying a certain number of credit hours and spread over the number of semesters

    prescribed for that course. An Academic year will have two semesters each having

    minimum 95 Net Instruction Days(NID).

    9.2.2 For Course Programme in B.V.Sc. & A.H., examinations for each course unit shall be

    conducted internally for 50 marks at the end of each semester and for the rest 50marks externally at the end of each year.

    9.2.3 For other Course Programmes, a Mid Term Examination shall be conducted at the

    middle of the each semester and the final examination shall be conducted at the end of

    each semester for each Course Unit.

    9.2.4 The details of the method of Examination & Evaluation of students performance shall beexplained to the students at the time of ORIENTATION PROGRAMME. The CourseProgramme shall be regulated as per U.G. Semester Regulations.

    9.3. Attendance

    A student is required to have a minimum of 85% of attendance in each course, failing

    which he/she shall not be allowed to appear at the Final Examination and will be

    detained in that semester, subject to Regulation for condonation as indicated below.

    The Dean/Assoc. Dean/Director, on the recommendation of the Instructor / Advisor

    concerned may condone shortage of attendance up to 15% in a course(s) in

    exceptional circumstances and allow such students to appear at the Final Examination

    on payment of the required fees. No condonation, even on medical ground, can be

    granted for shortage of attendance below 70% under any circumstances.

    12. STUDENT DISCIPLINE

    A student, whether a boarder or day scholar, shall abide by the disciplinary rules andregulations of the Hostel, College and University and shall not involve himself / herselfin any objectionable conduct such as violation of hostel discipline, disobedience ofinstructions of hostel authorities, immoral conduct or disorderly behavior including

    "ragging".
