Read instructions before beginning a project. All instructions include a ¼" seam allowance. 22" measurement is approximate. WOF–approximately 40".

Size: approximately 77"x 77"

1 Sew one Flying Geese quarter square triangle to one Background quarter square triangle. As you add the triangles, always offset the triangle by ¼" (see Tool Tip). Press. Add another Flying Geese quarter square triangle. Press. Add 2 Background half square triangles. See diagram. Press. Repeat to make 64 Flying Geese. Combine four Flying Geese to make 16 Flying Geese Blocks.

2 Draw a diagonal line on the back of the 3" Star squares. Layer one 3" Star square right sides together to 1–5½"x 3" Background rectangle. Sew on the diagonal line. Trim ¼" from the sewn line. Press to the corner to form a triangle. Add one more 3" Star square to the same Background rectangle to make 1–5½"x 3" Star Point block. Repeat to make 4 blocks.

Combine the 4 Star Points, 4–3"x 3" Background squares, and 1–5½"x 5½" Star Center.

Repeat Step #2 to make a total of 12 Star Blocks.Use one Star print in each block.

3 Assemble the quilt top. Make the rows. See diagram for placement, note the direction of the Flying Geese Blocks. Press away from the Flying Geese Blocks. Join the rows. Add the Corner Triangles.

To assemble the quilt top you need:

Final Border: 16–Setting Triangles 4–Corner Triangles

Background: 13–10½"x 10½" squares

If you are adding stitching to the Background blocks, we suggest adding the needlwork before assembling the quilt top.

4 Sew the 3½"x WOF Final Border strips together. Measure across the center of the quilt for the best measurements for the lengths of the borders. Add the side borders first then the top and bottom.

5 Sew the 2½"x WOF Binding strips together. Layer, quilt and bind the quilt. ENJOY!

Optional: Needlework or Quilting stencil:

1 Center the design on the 10½"x 10½" Background block. Lightly mark design on the fabric. Bring the thread to the front at A, approximately 1/16” from the beginning of the line.

2 Take the needle to the back at the beginning of the drawn line (B). Re-emerge approximately 1/16” beyond A at C. Pull the thread through to complete the stitch.

3 Take the needle to the back at A (in exactly the same hole). Re-emerge at D, 1/8” away. Continue working stitches following step 3. To end, take the thread through the hole at the beginning of the previous stitch; secure on the back.

If you are stitching to the Background blocks, we suggest adding the needlework before assembling the quilt top.
