allocations from the DEC, our classes for next year
will begin the year as follows.

the current 1/2 room.

Support role across the school. This will include in
class support, Gifted and Talented groups, teacher
RFF and mentoring programs for staff.
Staff will be staying on these classes for 2015 except

enough numbers for 4 classes.
Cineliteracy—Big River
Year 5/6 and Mrs Booth presented a fantastic
adaptation from the book, ‘The Iron Man’ by Ted
Hughes for their Cineliteracy project for the Big
River Film Festival. Everyone should be very proud
of their efforts and the parts they played in putting the
project together. The movie has now been uploaded
to our school blog.

Deeds not words.
As we approach the end of the year it may be a time to
reflect on what has happened over the past two terms:
The Staff at Ulmarra Public School have:
Updated and will be introducing a new Welfare
and Management Policy for 2015.
Purchased 25 new laptops for use across the
school which cost $6000.
Organised and successfully run a Mini Common-
wealth Games Day for students from Ulmarra,
Cowper, Tucabia and Wooli Public Schools. South
Grafton High Students were given the opportunity
as leaders of the day.
Organised Gala days for Cricket, Soccer and Golf
days.
Continued Transition Program for terms 3 & 4.
Employed additional support staff across the
school.
Organised signage for the school for safety.
Purchased a new photocopier
Analysed school surveys for community direction
for Ulmarra Public School for 2015-17. The final
report will be presented in 2015.
Purchased 15 ipads (5 purchased by P&C) plus
accessories, a mac computer, apple tv and an ipod
for a cost of approx. $ 8000
Upgraded current computers in the computer lab.
At the same time regular school programs have con-
tinued ensuring all students are receiving the highest
quality learning opportunities.
All of these initiatives have been implemented for the
betterment of Ulmarra Public School students and
community. As a school community it is important
that we work together to achieve common goals that
enhance the reputation of the school, its students,
community and staff. The best way to achieve this is
through word of mouth. I would like to thank those
members of the community who have spoken posi-
tively about the improvements, programs and students
of our school. Positive endorsements such as this will
enhance Ulmarra Public School’s reputation as one of
the leading small schools within the wider communi-
ty.
2015 Community Groups
I would like to begin community groups at the school
during 2015. This will involve parents / community
members with skills in any areas—craft (sewing, knit-
ting, crotchet), technology (office works, publisher,
etc) gardening, etc who would run classes at the
school. This could include students, parents or com-
munity members. The school will also offer areas for
curriculum and school based interest groups. If you
are interested in supporting the school in this area
please let the school know and we will organise a
meeting in the new year.
Carols by Candlelight Christmas Concert What a great evening! The storms could not keep
away the wonderful turn out by the Ulmarra commu-
nity. Thank you to the following people for your kind
