What are Ultra-Microbes?

• Living, natural organisms (microbes) that

are cultivated and grown to specifically

digest oil and render it harmless.

• They are some of the oldest organisms on

earth.

• They are adhered to clay powder for

transport , storage and dispersal.

Ultra-Microbes

• Are any special requirements required for

microbe use or storage? Microbes only need what most forms of life need: oxygen, water, food

(hydrocarbon) and an acceptable temperature

(28° - 140°F) and pH (5.5 – 10.0).

• What happens to the microbes after the oil or fuel

has been consumed? The microbes will either die, return to former natural concentration levels,

or be eaten by other organisms. The microbes

have an effective life span of approximately

three months.

Ultra-Microbes

• What are some of the advantages of the use of

microbes?

Microbes are completely natural, so they are a

―green‖ solution.

Microbes can eliminate the need for absorbent

products & their disposal problems/costs.

Microbes can be used to clean up spills on water,

soil, or hard surfaces and can even be used to

remove old stains in asphalt or concrete.

A very small volume of microbes is needed

compared to the area being treated.

Ultra-Microbes

• What are the final by-products after the microbes

consume the hydrocarbon? Carbon dioxide, water, trace carbon, lipids (white fatty acids), and bacterial

cells. The lipids are actually a source of food for

larger organisms and vegetative life.

• How rapidly do microbes work? The microbes begin working immediately, once activated by salt water

or fresh water and a food source. Remediation times

vary from several hours to several weeks depending

on the type and concentration of the hydrocarbon.

For example, light fuels floating on water will be

gone within a few hours. Heavy crude oil in soil will

require several months.

Ultra-Microbes

• Do the microbes have a shelf life? Yes,

microbes that have yet to be activated have

a 4-year shelf life. Once microbes are

activated, the microbes will continue to work

for up to three months before they begin to

die off and need to be replaced.

• Is it safe to use microbes? Yes, the microbe

products listed below are 100%

environmentally safe, nontoxic, and contain

no pathogens.

Ultra-Microbes

• Are the microbes dangerous to my health?

No, microbes are found everywhere in the

environment, and are the original recyclers

of organic materials. The average human

adult carries approximately 3 lbs. of

microbes on and in the body.

• What happens if I ingest or inhale the products? It will taste like mud, and could

make you sneeze, but it is non-toxic and

harmless.

How well do they work?

BP just conducted a study of Microbes to see how

effective they are to help in the remnants of the Gulf

Oil Spill. The Formula for the Ultra-Microbes

performed the best out of eight microbes tested

eliminating 99% of the weathered Gulf oil.

bentonite clay powder that

provides the slightly moist

environment for them to live.

SOLUBLE PACKETS• 4 oz. water soluble packets can

be thrown into oil/water

separators, catch basins, grease

traps and other areas to facilitate

spreading. Place the entire

packet into the area that needs

to be cleaned. The water soluble

packet will dissolve and allow the

Ultra-Microbe Booms

• Ultra-Microbe Booms allows it to float

on the water’s surface while also

absorbing oil.
