Seven Step Installation Guide

Step 1: Planning

Startwithagoodlevelmeasureanddrawadiagramofthearea,notinganyexisting

structuressuchasbuildings,fencesandotherpavedareas.

Step 2: Preparing

Contactyourlocalutilitycompaniesbeforeyoubeginexcavation.Stakeoutanarea

approximately12”largerthantheareatobecovered.Plantoslopetheblocksaway

fromthebuildingsinthedirectionofnormaldrainage.

Step 3: Excavating

Forareaslimitedtopedestriantraffic,abaseof4”-6”ofprocessedgravelisrecommended

-excavate7”-9”toallowforbasematerial.Forvehiculartrafficabaseof6”-8”of

processedgravelisrecommended-excavate9”-11”deep.

Step 4: Installing the Base

Afterinstallationofsitespecificgeotextilefabric,compactthesurfaceoftheexcavated

soilthenfilltheareawith3/4”minuscrushedstoneoraggregateapproximately5”

thick.Compactthiswiththeplatecompactor.Continuetoaddgravelinlayersuntilthebaseis

approximately3”to3-1/2”fromthedesiredlevelofthefinishedgrade.Theslopeshouldbe

1/8”perfoot.Installalevellineacrossthearea.Onthestakethatisattheendyouwantto

slopetowards,movethelinedown1/8”foreveryfoot.Thedistancefromthelinetothebase

shouldbeequalallalongtheline.
