Telemecanique Sensors is now offering a new solution for configuring ultrasonic OsiSense XX sensors. This software enables users to quickly find the optimal sensing solution for their applications. An interface unit connects the sensor to the PC via a USB connection.
> Easy configuration to unique applications The configuration software has more than 20 parameters that can be modified to suit the machine application. The parameters can be saved in PDF format for quick, easy reference.
> Real-time sensor performance display One of the best functions of the new software is the ability to troubleshoot and visualize the effects of the parameters on the configured sensor. The “echo display” function shows the exact position of any false echoes. The recording function can record the values of the echoes in an .xlsx or .xml file for extended periods of time.
> Quick duplication of programmed settings Optimal parameters set on one sensor can be saved and loaded on other units of the same reference. This function reduces time and effort.
> The interface can be used to configure specific configurable models of OsiSense XX ultrasonic sensors (XXSpp & XXApp).
XX Configuration Software for ultrasonic sensors > XX Configuration Software is available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Chinese. It can be installed using the setup file in the USB key provided with the configuration kit or downloaded directly from the website www.tesensors.com.
> Recommended PC performance: > Windows OS: 7 SP1 (x86 & x64), 8.1 (x86 & x64), or 10 (x86 & x64) > Internet Explorer: 6.0 or higher > Disk space: 800 MB or higher > RAM memory: 2 GB or higher > Processor speed: 1 GHz or higher > Display resolution: 1360 x 768 or higher

Process to select COM port
This software requires administrator rights to find automatically the COM port on which the configuration Box is conected.Any user without administrator rights must set the COM port manually.
Steps to find COM port on pc:
Windows 7
Windows 8.1
Windows 10
Windows XP
1) Select Start Windows menu.2) Open Control panel.3) Open peripherical manager. This last is either directly accessible in Control panel or in System sub-menu.4) Open COM and LPT port list.5) COM port on which the configuration Box is connected is named «USB Serial port».
1) Right click on Start Windows menu.2) Click on arrow at the bottom of the screen.3) Open Control panel.4) Open Material and audio menu.5) In Periphericals and printers, open peripherical manager.6) Open COM port list.7) COM port on which the configuration Box is connected is named «USB Serial port».

Hysteresis
Unexpected echoes
1) Near limit, 2) Far limit, 3) Hysteresis near, 4) Hysteresis far
The hysteresis values are always positive.
Unexpected echoes are sometimes received by the sensor. They are not reflected by the object to be detected but the environment of the object or by multiple reflections from the object. These echoes are a source of mis-detection.

Hysteresis parameters are applied when there is a requirement for outputs to switch depending on the direction of movement of the target with respect to the sensor. They can also be applied to stabilize the outputs to avoid «chattering».It is possible to adjust the hysteresis values «near» and «far» directly on the chart or by entering a value. To enable the hysteresis function, the «Enable» box must be checked .The Before near limit is applied for the movement of the object towards the sensors. The After far limit is applied for the movement of the object away from the sensor (example in figure below with a output of NO type)

Pulse length
«Time value» This parameter is the minimum time during which sensor output keeps its state once changed (in blue on the simuliation diagram). this is the monostable function.
The value 0 means that pulse length function is not applied.

Function : There are two types of discrete output: NO output (normally open) and NC output (normally close).
With NO type, sensor outputs will remain opened if no object is in the detection zone (the blue area in the simulation diagram). Sensor outputs will be closed if an object is detected in the detection area.NC type is the opposite of NO type. Sensor outputs will remain closed if no object is detected in the detection zone. The output will be opened if an object is detected in the detection zone.
In terms of logic output, closed output represents the value of 1 and opened output represents the value of 0.

Teach method settings
This tab allows the configuration of the pushbuttom for manual teaching.Depending on the sensor reference, the teach buttom is either integrated to the sensor or available through the XX accessory.Explanations on the use of the inbuilt pushbuttom / accessory can be found on the instruction sheet of the particular reference.
Pushbuttom settings
Offset
In the teaching mode, the limits of the detection window are near and far «taught» by fixing the targets at the respective positions. When it is not possible to move the target object to perform teach, the offset values can shift the limits’ values to take into account the expected movements of the target, thus defining the limits of the detection window. Here, only positive offset values are possible. The Near offset will be applied to the value of the near limit defiened in the teach mode. The Far offset will be applied to the value of the far limit defined in the teach mode.

Echo displayThe «Echo display» mode allows the user to visualize several echoes received by sensor in the same cycle.
Two graphs are used to visualize the echoes received by the sensor. The detection graph (top), where the object detection zone is marked in blue and the echoes graph (bottom), which provides the position (and energy level for M30 sensors only) of the received echo.
The detection graph allows the user to visualize the position of the received echoes with respect to the detection zone. In this graph, each received echo is represented by a circled cross on the axis of the sensor.
The echo graph is used to display the received echo for each associated position (and energy level for M30 sensors). the mouse pointer when hovered on an echo can show the precise distance. For M30 sensors, the echoes are represented by a vertical bar whose height gives the energy level.
The first valid echo is shown in blue and the others are in grey. The Blue echo is what the sesor considers as the detected object.

RecordThe Record button records the values ?? of the echoes. Each press of this button starts or stops recording. During analysis, the first press request for the recording file name.Record is performed in the same file until Echo display mode has not been stopped. To backup into a fresh new file, you must Stop the Echo display mode and click Start again.
Recording fileXML file name used or record. In the file, recording period, output status, temperature and position of all echoes detected are recorded. For M30 sensors, the energy level of the echoes is also recorded. The data stored in the XML file can be read with Microsoft Excel sofware.

NB: To enable synchronization between several sensors, all of the wires of pin no .5 (gray) must be electrically connected together . A maximum of 8 sensors can be synchronized. To enable “Multiplexer” function for the sensors, use the XX Configuration Software. Without synchronization or multiplexing, the sensors must be at least 50 cm away from each other in order to avoid mutual interference.
