CiFzens  provide  informaFon  through  their  smartphones  and  tablets  on  the  locaFon  of  umbrella  species  through  a  tech  app  with  geo-­‐locaFon  (waze  type).  This  informaFon  is  used  by  environmental  authoriFes  and  NGO’s  working  for  conservaFon  and  biodiversity.  

How  does  it  work?  

CiFzens  must  sign  a  terms  of  use  agreement  when  downloading  and  using  the  app.    The  app  informs  ciFzens  on  the  concept  and  list  of  umbrella  species  in  their  territories.    InformaFon  on  locaFon  of  the  umbrella  animal  species  are  only  for  governmental  use  and  confidenFal  use  by  NGO  partners.    Both  government  and  partner  NGO’s  must  verify  the  informaFon  provided  by  ciFzens.    Government  then  uses  informaFon  to  declare  and  protect  new  key  areas.
