First PC
The IBM Personal Computer, commonly known as the IBM
PC, is the original version and progenitor of the IBM PC
compatible hardware platform. It is IBM model number 5150, and was
introduced on August 12, 1981. It was created by a
team of engineers and designers under the direction
of Don Estridge of the IBM Entry Systems Division in
Boca Raton, Florida.
First Laptop The first laptops using the flip form factor appeared in the early 1980s. The Dulmont
Magnum was released in Australia in 1981–82, but was not marketed internationally until
1984–85. The US$8,150 (US$19,630 today) GRiD Compass 1100, released in 1982, was
used at NASA and by the military among others. The Gavilan SC, released in 1983, was the first computer described as a "laptop" by
its manufacturer.[8] From 1983 onward, several new input techniques were developed
and included in laptops, including the touchpad (Gavilan SC, 1983), the pointing stick
(IBM ThinkPad 700, 1992) and handwriting recognition (Linus Write-Top,[9] 1987). Some
CPUs, such as the 1990 Intel i386SL, were designed to use minimum power to increase battery life of portable computers, and were supported by dynamic power management features such as Intel SpeedStep and AMD
PowerNow! in some designs.
Types of Software's
Application Software consists of Programs that
direct computers to perform specific information
programs are called application packages because they direct the processing required for a particular use,
System Software program that manages and
supports the computer resources and operations of a computer system while it executes various tasks such as processing data and information
made up of many control programs, including the operating system, communications software and database manager.
Types of Software's (CONTINUE)
Programming System the process of creating a sequence of instructions that
tell a computational device, such as a Microcontroller on the VEX robot, how to perform a task. There are several options for creating and downloading programs
Microcontroller is pre-programmed with Default Code that allows you a simple way to get started without writing and downloading code

and slots
What are they doing?
CD-ROM
pre-pressed compact disc that contains data accessible to,
but not writable by, a computer for data storage and music
playback.
Motherboard
Motherboard or Main Boards is the primary source that links your
computer processor unit, your memory and
hardware.
Memory
It stores things (data, instructions) so that the can do (process) them.
Power Supply
It supplies power to the various components of your computer.
Expansion cards and slots
Alternatively referred to as an expansion
port, an expansion slot
is a slot located inside a computer on
the motherboard or riser board
that allows additional
boards to be connected to
it.
What is a virus and what can it do to your computer? What is a virus?
A program that spreads by first infecting files or the system areas of a computer or network router's hard drive and then making copies of itself.
Some viruses are harmless, others may damage data files, and some may destroy files
Viruses used to be spread when people shared floppy disks and other portable media, now viruses are primarily spread through email messages.
What do viruses do? A virus is simply a computer
program it can do anything that any other program you run on your computer can do.
Some viruses are designed to deliberately damage files, and others may just spread to other computers.
What is a worm?
A worm is a type of virus that can spread without human interaction.
Worms often spread from computer to computer and take up valuable memory.
Can cause a computer to stop responding. Worms can also allow attackers to gain access to your
computer remotely.

Future of Technology
In the future I think we are going to have touch screen computers that wont need a keyboard or mouse. I think is will be voice activated. To unlock your screen you wont need to type anything in, the computer will remember your voice and will open to the password you had set.
