The Paeskwela ni San Andres scholars were very fortunate to have as speaker Ms. Techie Duran-Dy, a family counselor and a SAAP Parishioner, last Saturday, September 22, who gave part 1 of her Love Life talk series, “I am ME!”

and translated word for word; and

3. The language of liturgy must be worthy of the noble realities, set apart from language of the streets or everyday speech.

The LCs were physically and spiritually well-fed throughout the morning, thanks to the snacks provided by Monsignor Dennis Odiver and to the enlightening discussion given by Fr. Carmelo. The seminar ended a little before noon. It may be one of the shortest formation seminars that the LCs attended, but it was very enriching.

The Miracle of San Lorenzo Ruiz

The miracle that led to Lorenzo Ruiz’s canonization took place when Cecilia Alegria Policarpio a 2 year old girl suffering from a rare brain disease, brain atrophy (hydrocephalus) was cured through the intercession of the family and supporters to Lorenzo Ruiz. This took place in 1983. She was diagnosed shortly after her birth and was treated at Magsaysay Medical Center. Primary Treating Physicians was Dr. Felicadad Soto. I remember reading a magazine article of the child’s cure. She was shown holding a statuette of then-Blessed Lorenzo. When asked what happened, she said that she was lying on her sick bed, almost motionless from the pain of her brain disease when she noticed a light coming from where here feet were. She noticed a man holding a rosary, looking heavenward. The man did not speak and she did not know who he was. The vision did not last long. The following morning she was already feeling well and was even sitting on her bed. What she did not know was that her mother and friends prayed a novena to Blessed Lorenzo and placed a picture of the Beato on her pillow.

weaknesses and had it visualized throught their drawings. She even gave them homeworks to reflect on which will be used for the next part of her talk. Part 2 of the series (ME and You!) will be given next Saturday, September 29.

Spotlight on the Youthby: Becca Santelices

Your life is your message to the world, so make it inspiring.

Every September, we celebrate Youth Month. It’s the time of every Youth to be given appreciation and celebrate them as gifts from God. In line with this month-long celebration, the St. Andrew the Apostle Parish (SAAP) Parish Youth Ministry (PYM) participated in the Mediafest by sending a video entry of the SAAP PYM song that was sung by the members, hence let’s all pray for a positive outcome of the competition and the strength to accept whatever the results may be.

Also, the SAAP PYM attended the Movie Watching event in San Carlos Seminary, Guadalupe last September 22. The event featured four movies, namely: Letters

to God, Facing the Giants, Life is Beautiful and What dreams may come. The movies made a big impact to the viewers, changing some of their views in life. Facing the Giants was a blockbuster, making everyone feel like they’re on the bleachers watching a live football game. Everyone also received free snacks and dinner. Everyone had the chance to go to the Auditorium and listen to some of the viewer’s insights and some of the event sponsors’ messages to everyone. They also made commitments which were blessed. All in all, everyone had a great time and had the chance to be closer to God.

Let’s bear in mind that, no matter What dreams may come, remember that Life is Beautiful and when Facing the Giants don’t forget to write your Letters to God.

Habagatby: Claire Padilla

Our monthly Parish Spiritual Conference held last September 20, 2012 was graced by Ambassador Tita de Villa. To better accommodate a bigger attendance than the previous conference, this one was held inside the church.

As our main speaker, Ambassador Tita shared her experiences as a religious worker. She was courageous enough to go to a lot of places, even strange ones just to fulfill the tasks assigned to her. Her inspiring words encouraged me to do more and serve more for God. These statements have echoed:

• God is love, no doubt about it.

• When you believe that there is God, His love for us is forever.

• Faith must bloom in our hearts.

• Church is often called a mother and a teacher.

• Vocation is a call to holiness.

• Jesus lives in us and He will never give up on us.

Habagat (west monsoon) was an amazing experience for the ambassador. One thing that was so reassuring is her constant prayers that help her face her fears and circumstances.

We also have “Habagat” in our lives. Problems

like food, shelter, unemployment, gasoline, price hike, bickering among government officials, those who are in cahoots with the government surround us.

How can we hurdle these things? As religious workers, we only have one weapon and that is called PRAYER. Our belief and hope tell us that we should never give up. We are fortunate that God is always there. He will never deny us. Keep on praying and He will give His answers to all our needs in due time.
