Grachtengordel Amsterdam
The grachtengordel exists of four canals in the centre of Amsterdam. It's a system of streets, canals, quays, bridges and all the houses have the same surface. Most of these houses were built in de gouden eeuw (This is the Golden Century translated in English) and the 18th century. These houses are one of the most important tourist attraction. These houses were placed on the unesco heritage list in 2010.
Schokland
On a hill from the previous island Schokland, now stands a church. lts used for expositions, marriages and concerts. The church was built in 1834. In 1942 they pumped the water out of the polder, so it wasnt an island anymore.
Willemstad
Willemstad is the capital city of Curaao, an island in the southern Caribbean Sea that belongs to the Netherlands. It has an estimated population of 140,000. The historic centre of the city consists of four quarters. The city centre, with its unique architecture and port entry, has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Molens van Kinderdijk
The mills of Kinderdijk are nineteen mills in Zuid-Holland. They were built in the eighteenth century. The mills are near the village Kinderdijk. Thousands of tourists come to this area to visit the mills.
Woudagemaal
The ir. D.F. Woudagemaal is a pumping station in the Netherlands, and the largest still operational steam-powered pumping station in the world. On October 7, 1920 Queen Wilhelmina opened the pumping station. It was built to pump excess water out of Friesland, a province in the north of the Netherlands.Since 1998 the ir. D.F. Woudagemaal has been listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list.
Defence of Amsterdam
The defence of Amsterdam is an incredible 38 mile long line of forts(45 in total). It was build from 1880 till 1920 and it should protect Amsterdam against soldier of other countries. In case of a war, people could flood an area around Amsterdam. The water would be too deep to walk through but too shallow to sail on the water. Amsterdam was totally protected!
Wadden Sea
The Wadden Sea is a sea in the north of the Netherlands. There are 5 small Dutch inhabited islands. The special thing about this see is that there is no water 2 times a day. When there is no water, some people go and walk on the seabed! They never walk without a guide, if you lose direction and the water comes back youve got a tiny problem

The beemster
The Beemster is an area which was part of the zuiderzee (a sea which was in the middle of the Netherlands). They made dikes around the area and pumped all the water out. So now its a polder, used for farming.
