Christmas movie club December evenings go hand in hand with Christmas film marathons. Set up some comfy chairs in the school hall and screen Christmas films on a projector for a £1.50 ticket. The Santa Clause, Miracle on 34th Street, Home Alone, The Muppet Christmas Carol and It’s a Wonderful Life are all classics to share with your class. Offer mince pies and mulled grape juice on the door, as an extra treat. #BakeForSYRIA at your school We’re asking schools to bake a real difference for Syrian children this winter. Use our recipe cards to make special Syrian shortbread Barazek biscuits, or simply ask classes to bake and sell their favourite treats at your school’s carol concert, nativity play or Christmas fair. You could even target hungry parents at the school gates! Recognise and celebrate human rights December 10 is International Human Rights Day – bring human rights into your classroom using some of our specially-made Rights Respecting Schools resources. Empower pupils to realise their rights, embedding global citizenship values. Arty advent collection Find some empty jars and have a ‘paint and make’ session in class, having students transform them into beautifully festive collection jars. During the advent period, ask your class to try and fill the jars with coins. All the money you collect will help keep children safe, warm and happy this winter.
