Overview
Why a school uniform? Wearing a school uniform can be a badge of pride. In addition, it helps to create an identity for a
school and is an important part of being a student at La Côte International School. A school uniform
teaches students to dress smartly and to take pride in their appearance. Perhaps most importantly,
a uniform means students do not have to worry about peer pressure when it comes to their clothes.
A uniform can also alleviate some financial pressure, as there is no competition about being dressed
in the latest trend.
With this in mind, LCIS has gone through a process to source a new uniform that maximizes value for
money and presents the school in a consistent, positive and “smart looking” manner. We have
sought fabrics that will wash and wear well and that will last for a long-time, without looking tattered
and worn.
What was the process for deciding on this uniform? The process for deciding uniforms was based on consultation with students and parents, as well as
with input from our sister school Champittet who has had a long and positive experience with our
selected uniform supplier, FLD, that is conveniently based across from our new school in Aubonne.
Who is required to wear the new school uniform? The new La Côte International School uniform has been designed for all LCIS students from
Foundation 1 through to MYP 5. DP students have been given guidelines for what they can wear. DP
students are of course welcome to wear the Secondary school uniform. For details of DP dress code
please see Appendix 2. There are different versions of the new school uniform, depending on the
age and gender of the student. Details are given below.
When do students have to begin to wear the new uniform? MYP students will adopt the new uniform as of September 2014. Tracksuits are mandatory but
students may wear their existing one until a new one is purchased. Primary students will have until
September 2015 to fully adopt the new uniform; however we hope that all students and parents will
be inclined to purchase and wear the new uniform as of September 2014. Doing so will help LCIS
transition fully to our new branding and will help to present our school in a positive and consistent
manner. This is especially important when prospective families visit the new school and when
students represent the school externally.

Footwear. All students should wear brown, black or dark blue/navy shoes that are rubber soled. They should
not wear trainers or any brightly colored shoes.
Enforcement of new uniform standards. There will be regular checks to ensure that students are wearing the appropriate uniform. The
optional summer uniform (long shorts for all students and polo shirt instead of white long sleeved
collared shirt for MYP students) may only be worn between April 1st and Oct 31st.
Logistics & Prices
Key Dates in the Process End of June/early July: uniform prototypes will be delivered to LCIS for approval
Mid to end of July: Target date for the online Web Shop to open. Parents can begin to order uniforms
online. An email message will be sent to all parents when the store is open.
Mid-August: Deadline to order new uniform to be delivered on 1st September.
1st September: Uniforms delivered to parents at LCIS during Orientation Day.
When and how can parents begin to order the new uniform items? We have targeted the middle of July as the date to open the new online uniform shop. Parents will
be able to order and pay for the uniform there. Parents may opt to be invoices rather than pay
online. Orders will then be filled and distributed at the new school.
There will be detailed size charts on the website and we will provide guidance as to whether or not
uniform items are likely to shrink and also if we recommend that you buy based on your child’s exact
measurements or if it would be better to purchase a size larger than their current measurements.
As long as the uniform items have NOT been worn, parents will be able to exchange sizes upon
receipt of their order.
