L i s t e n i n g Model 1
Today Gaza isn’t free ,and it cant reach out to the world . It is the most crowded place in the world. The 1948 catastrophe also forced a million of Palestinian refugees into this very small area .However , this is only one point of history , and Gaza remains as it always wasa sea port at the crossroads of three continents . One day , it will again be free and open tothe world and again be a great city of trade and travel Model 2
A: what would you like to drink sir ? B : I would like some juice .A : what about the starter ? B : May I have some salads . A :what is your main mail ? B : Kebabs and chipsA : Do you want ice cream or cake as deserts ? A: I prefer ice cream , thanks
Model 3We don’t want just four walls and a roof . We want a place to escape from the world outside. We want somewhere to relax with our family and welcome our friends. In other words we want our house to be a home. When we grow up in a happy family home, we never forget it
Model 4Skiing is too dangerous, and it certainly is more dangerous than the most sports. You
59
could try football but that’s still not very safe. There are about six serious injuries in every100 games. The safest activity is swimming.
Model 5Manchester, in the north of England, is one of the best examples of the problems. Three centuries ago, it was a small town of 15,000 people. Most of the people were poor, and their lives were terrible. They had to live in small, crowded badly built houses near the factories. Today more than half the worlds people live in urban areas .
