“This is my favourite story,” said Jim.

Once upon a time, there was a king and a queen. They lived in a palace with their daughter, Princess Ada.

Ada was in love with a princeFrom a nearby land. His nameWas Roy and he loved her, too.

One sunny day, Roy asked Ada to marry him. “Ada will you marry me?” he asked. Ada said, “Yes!”

The king’s tailor made Roy’s wedding suit. The queen’s dressmaker made Ada’s weddingdress.

The elves made a pair of boots for the prince. The fairies made a pair of silver slippers for the princess.

The White Elephant

There was a mean potter called Tin, and a cleverWasherman called Nam.

One day, the king wanted a white elephant.Tin told the king that Nam could wash a grey elephant so clean,It would turn white!

Nam said that he needed a big pot to do this. The King orderedTin to make the pot. Tin’s pot was not strong enough and it broke.Tin made another pot. This pot was strong enough and big enoughFor the elephant.

Nam built a fire under the pot but the water did not boil. “This Pot is too thick,” he said. Tin made many pots but none of them was right. The King was very angry. He ordered Tin to leave the country.Clever Nam lived happily from then on.
