Accessing my.scouting
Access the new tools at: https://my.scouting.org/
(NOT http://www.myscouting.org That is the old site where E-learning and UVTS continue to reside.)
Once logged in, each user is presented with a menu that is custom built depending on their registered units, positons
and granted access.
Home Returns you to the home screen
My Dashboard This screen shows the user all their personal information as well as a
list of all registered positions. If another menu item is missing, check
this screen to ensure the position is properly registered.
My Organization Dashboard Shows current unit calendar and upcoming events on a summary
page.
Calendar This tool allows the user to add events to a calendar that is shared
with all other registered users with access to that level. For example,
a unit might put all campout dates on their unit calendar.
Announcements This tool allows announcements to be added to the calendar.
Member Manager Allows maintenance of members in your unit. You can update
addresses, phone numbers and email addresses.
Organization Manager Allows you to update information about your unit including social
media, unit website and more. Additionally you can create sub
organizations for use within my.scouting, such as patrols or dens or
people attending summer camp.
Training Manager Allows authorized leaders of a unit or non-unit level (like a district) to
add or update training course completion for their members.
Organization Security
Manager
Allows key-3 leaders of a level to authorize other members for special
functions, such as adding access to allow a pack trainer to update
training records.

A typical personal menu might look like this, again depending on registered positons and granted access.
The items below ‘My Dashboard’ are determined by your security and registrations.
My Dashboard
You can click on the menu to switch between ‘My Profile’ and ‘My Training’.

Unit Tool Icons
Calendar
The calendar allows the user to schedule events on a shared calendar. The events can be categorized and if desired
invitations can be emailed to all other users at that level.
My Organization Dashboard
My Organization Dashboard shows all calendar entries and announcements that have been posted for the organization.
myScouting.org Unit Tools 4 Revised: 08/22/2014
You can switch between calendar view and announcement view by clicking on the menu in the upper left.
Announcements
Similar to calendar, the announcement icon can add items to the calendar.

Member Manager
Member manager allows authorized users to maintain information about users such as address and email. You cannot
change positons with a tool. Positions require an adult application be processed byt the council registrar.
Simply select a roster view (All, adult or youth) to see registered members.
Then you can select a member by highlighting them. A checkmark appears on their row.
Next click to display their information.
myScouting.org Unit Tools 6 Revised: 08/22/2014
If you wish to update, click to edit. The modifiable fields are then editable.
Click SAVE or the red X to cancel when complete.
Additionally, if sub organizations have been created in Organization Manager (such as Dens) you can use Member
Manager to update the members assigned to these sub organizations.
Training Manager
Perhaps one of the greatest features of the myscouting tools is the ability for authorized users to update training
records.
Once the Training Manager tool is selected from the users menu, the level training summary appears:
myScouting.org Unit Tools 7 Revised: 08/22/2014
You can quickly see the YPT and total training complete and incomplete. To see the members behind any negative (not
trained) statistic, simple click on the pie chart. For example. To see the unit leaders with missing or expired YPT click on
the red section of the YPT graph. (The 10% segment in the picture).
You will then download a report of the leaders with incomplete YPT.
The PDF report will list the leaders and missing/expired courses.
myScouting.org Unit Tools 8 Revised: 08/22/2014
To see the Trained leaders, click the icon at the top of the report section.
A PDF report will download. There are 2 sections to the report. The top lists all leaders properly trained. The bottom lists
all leaders not trained and which course(s) are missing.
myScouting.org Unit Tools 9 Revised: 08/22/2014
For YPT, the report is a YPT aging report. This list all leaders in order of YPT expiration.
myScouting.org Unit Tools 10 Revised: 08/22/2014
Perhaps the most useful feature is the ability to ADD training records. NOTE: You cannot update your own record.
To add training, click the add training icon on the Training Manager tool main page.
Adding training requires 2 steps; Identify the course then identify the member or members that took the course.
First find the course in the series of dropdown selections: The top levels are:
• Cub Scout
• Boy Scout
• Varsity & Venturing
• Exploring/LFL
• Other
myScouting.org Unit Tools 11 Revised: 08/22/2014
Once the top level is selected, the Course dropdown is populated with the relevant courses. Select the course. Lastly,
enter the date of the training.
Once that is complete, the screen changes to select the member(s) that attended the training.
Enter names to search to find the appropriate members. When listed click on them to move them to the course add
screen.
Once all the members are identified and listed on the screen, click submit.
NOTE: The myscouting tools and ScoutNet update twice a day, so items entered in one are not immediately visible in the
other.
Organization Security Manager
This tool is used to grant users access to different myscouting tools. For example (and the only current use) you can give
people the same access as a key-3 member. For example, in a district you might assign this role to a District Vice
Chairman.
myScouting.org Unit Tools 12 Revised: 08/22/2014
At this time the following functional positions can be assigned:
• Key 3 Delegate
• Registration Inquiry
• Unit Membership Chair
• Unit Training Chair
• Youth Protection Champion
At this time, assign a person the Key-3 Delegate role to allow them to access the Training Manager tool.
To see or assign roles, click on the role.
If any people are assigned they are listed (and you can remove them). You can also click the sign to add a person to
the role.
Clicking add brings up a dialog to select a person to grant access, and the dates of that access.
Click Save to save the changes.
The person now has access equivalent to the Key 3.
NOTE: Although this is shown at a unit level, it works the same for other levels.
