• To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the
Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF
• The very first of its kinds in HKCU
• Aims at advocating for children’s rights
together with local NGOs that share the
same vision
• Allocation of HK$ 1,500,000 every year
• Trial run for 2 years• In 2011, 3 projects are supported, HK$500,000
each

poverty
• Survival and developmental needs of children from ethnic
minority

End Child Sexual Abuse FoundationSexual-Abuse-Preventive Program for Mentally-handicapped Children
Project area • Children affected by physical, mental or sexual abuse
Project aims • 4,000 mild to moderate mentally handicapped (MR) children in HK• Provide basic sex education to these children
Project design • Trained educators visit schools to provide workshops, multi- media teaching approach, puppet shows• Train teachers to become sex educators for MR students.
Workshop content • Body parts• Basic sex education• How to say ‘no’ to sexual abuse
Sustainability • Worksheets and VCD for revision• Train teachers to become sex educators• Advocate for the rights to protection for MR students
Beneficiaries •1,200 mild to moderate MR students
Against Child AbuseWell-adjusted, Better Inclusion Project
Project area Survival and developmental need of children living under poverty
Project aims • 30,000 children born in cross-border marriage family each year
• Provide these families with child-care knowledge, adjustment to Hong Kong society, reduce family violence
Project design • Trained volunteers conduct home visitation and phone counseling• Regular group sharing
Home visitation and phone counseling
• Child care knowledge, survival and developmental need of children, community resources
Sustainability • Advocate for including the project as a public service• Right to development and Right to protection of children coming from these families
Beneficiaries • 50 cross-border marriage families• 50 trained volunteers
Youth OutreachHang Out Express – Street Rover
Project area Children affected by drug abuse and other issues
Project aims Provide service to young people who are used to hang out on the street at night
Project design • A truck will travel across 18 districts in Hong Kong• Crisis intervention provided by social workers and peer counselers
Street Rover activities
• Video games• Counseling and crisis intervention• Provide shelter for teenagers in need• Career counseling
Sustainability • Train service targets to become peer counselers• Advocate for Rights to Protection for these teenagers
Beneficiaries • 1,500 teenagers
