The papers of Local 602 were placed in the Archives of Labor History andUrban Affairs, on February 24, 1969 by the Local's Executive Board, underthe presidency of Richard Sanborn, with the support of the unionmembership. This collection is under the UAW twenty year restriction.Only that portion of the collection created beyond the twenty year timelimit is open to scholars.

This local is located in Lansing, Michigan and services the Fisher BodyDivision of General Motors. The papers represent routine items in thelife of the local which celebrated its "thirty year" anniversary earlyin 1969. The collection documents Local 602's contribution to thedevelopment of the UAW plus its own unique aid to the advancement oflabor, its members, families and the community of Lansing.
