There isa March Through May information packet available with additional project ideas.
Several big name celebrities have appeared atnational Jaycee functions to promote the program, including Jerry Lewis, David Hartman, Wayne Newtonand Olympic Gold Medalist Bart Conner. SHOOTING EDUCATIONThe Shooting Education program is designed to
teach responsible gun handling to boys and girls, ages 8through 14.The four basic ingredients of the program are
education, safety, enjoyment and competition.Over the past 25years, The U.S. Jaycee Shooting
Education program has instructed more than 11millionyoungsters. This year, more than 2,500 chapters willinvolveapproximately500,000youngpeople inthe program.
In the area of competition, each state holds achampionship match with the winning team representingthat state at the International BB Gun Match, the thirdlargest shooting event in the world.
Shooting Education was developed into a national
priority program in 1963when Jaycees began searchingforan effectiveinstructional program to teach youngstersthe basic skillsof safe gun handlingand good marksman-
ship. Inthe spring that year, The U.S. Jaycees and DaisyManufacturing Company, the world's oldest and largestmanufacturer of non-powder guns and ammunition, joined forces to create the Shooting Education program.
Shooting Education is a program that satisfies acommunity need that becomes more urgent each year.Hunter-shooter populations continue to grow, open landareas are shrinking and more Americans keep guns in
their homes. Most gun accidents involving personsbetween the ages of 8 and 14can be traced to impropergun handling. The need for well-organized and detailedinstruction inproper gun handlingandmarksmanship hasnow become a community-wide responsibility.Order theShooting Education Kit (5232-0);$1.50.

There are two basic approaches to the Get-OutThe-Vote (GOTV) campaign; canvassing on a one-onone basis and voter service.
