UNIVERSAL HUMAN RIGHTS ORGANIZATION ® RO Page 1 of 11 PREAMBLE Universal Human Rights Organization (UHRO) is a non-profit and non-Governmental Organization. It took its inception as a Community Based Organization (CBO) on August 18, 2003, at G-7/2 Christian Colony in Islamabad. Its nascent goals were to uplift and bring change among deprived, ignored and unaccessed Community who have had least or no access to learning, health and vocational skills in Islamabad. Education is the key to bring revolution in the lives of individuals. It facilitates the mental abilities to flourish and get utmost fruits from the competitive world. Hence, the primary purpose of this organization is to improve and empower the community through education. The organization has executed various Projects since 2003. Effective and efficient program triumphs boosted the morals of this organization’s founding- fathers and they got it registered on May 10, 2010 under the clauses of Societies Act 1961. OBJECTIVE “The overall objective of UHRO is to widen the process of effective human resource mobilization, and development of the poor and disadvantaged people in general ,to provide real opportunities and choices for personal welfare, by ensuring that, as much as possible through community-driven efforts, they benefit from mainstream development and participate in community activities” ORGANIZATION’S CONTINGENCY GOALS Awareness of children about health Sensitizing children and parents about the importance of education Vocational education of both genders VISION “To work towards obtaining fundamental rights for the down trodden classes of the society irrespective of cast or religion aimed at their growth and prosperity” MISSION “Our mission is to harness human efforts in the process of establishing and building peaceful development, educational and just societies in Pakistan, by working for, and working with poor communities”

    PROJECTS

    UHRO has succeeded in implementing and getting expected feedbacks from its previous projects. These projects were:

    TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR PEACE CLUB BOYS AND GIRLS

    A ‘Peace Club’ was constituted, consisting of 25 children. Following training programs were started and completed by Universal Human Rights Organization with the collaboration of an International NGO, Plan Pakistan.

    EDUCATION

    UHRO initiated the education project in January 2004 which was completed in June 2005 .its aims at providing formal and non-formal education at nursery level with collaboration of adult bass education system (ABES). UHRO also collaborated with “Mountain Institute for Education Development” to provide education on regular bases to the community children at Community Centre, G-7/2, Islamabad.

    Arranged a library in Christian colony to facilitate students at G-7/2, Islamabad.

    HEALTH

    1- A health clinic was established in Christian colony in coordination with SACHE, Pakistan from 2005 to 2006. It zeroed on delivering immediate health facilities to the needy/poor people in the community.

    2- Free of cost milk was provided to the children living in ‘Colony’ up to three months to evaluate the healthy growth of the infants.

    3- Free ‘De-worming’ camps were organized every three months in one and half years, for the parents and children relating the health concerned issues.

    4- ‘Lecture’ programs were arranged to promote awareness among parents how they can keep healthy their children and themselves.

    5- It provided sports facilities to boys and girls for indoor and outdoor activities.

    PUNKH – AN NGO

    UHRO with the collaboration of ‘PUNKH’ strived to alleviate poverty through skill developing training programs.

    COMMUNITY HEALTH EDUCATION –‘CHE’

    One year rudimentary health training was imparted to 12 boys and girls, aged from 13 to 19 years, in:

    First Aid training Hepatitis prevention Malaria Immunization Sexually Transmitted Infection / Sexually Transmitted Diseases-STD awareness

    AIDS/ HIV preventive measures Family Planning and health Career counseling

    COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM-CDP

    1- Provided Natural Gas in G-7/2 Christian Colony with co-ordination of philanthropists. 2- A campaign was launched for better health and cleaning in Christian colony G-7/2, on July

    26-27, 2009. 3- UHRO helped provide electricity in G-7/2 Christian Colony on “Self-Help” basis. 4- A campaign was launched for maintaining health and cleanliness in Christian Colony G-

    7/2, from July 6-8, 2010. 5- Members visited different places for recreation and information to see other projects

    done by other organization e.g. Islamabad, Chakwal, Veharri, Murree, Lahore etc. 6- Constructed a ‘Community Centre’ on July 2010 at Christian Colony near Awami Market

    G-7/2, Islamabad and size of community center 25x80 feet’s. 7- Concreted streets of Katchi Abadi in G-7/2, Islamabad.

    FREE EYE TEST CAMP JUNE, 2010

    A free ‘Eye checking’ Camp was arranged for two days at Christian Colony G-7/2 and one day at 48 Quarters Kachi Abadi G-7/3- 2, Islamabad.

    OTHER EVENTS ORGANIZED UNDER THE FLAG OF UHRO

    i) Clean Week, G-7/2, Islamabad (2 times) ii) Study Tours for children/youth/parents. iii) A seminar on “Career Counseling and Healthy Life. iv) Cricket Tournament v) Universal Children Day vi) Awareness session for mothers’ on health vii) Celebrated Christmas parties with children (many times)

    COLLABORATION WITH ‘PLAN PAKISTAN INTERNATIONAL

    We started working with Plan Pakistan International since October; 2003. Following have so far been achieved with PPI collaboration.

    We collected census and basic data from houses. Distributed school bags in 2004-5. Distributed books and copies in children in 2006-7.

    1. Arranged different stage shows for awareness of education and self -talent exploring.

    A Tuition center will be arranged for secondary classes. Lecture programs will be arranged for students to create awareness about their career

    counseling. Education seminars will be arranged. Education and informative tours will be arranged. IT and vocational training will be provided. Health awareness program will be continued. An Ambulance service will be arranged for emergency. Free medical camps will be organized. Rehabilitation support will be arranged. Improvement the Library which is already established.
