Where dreams are born.
They bungled it.In 1989, singer Billy Joel released what became
a very popular song entitled, ‘We Didn't Start
the Fire.’
The lyrics, which is simply a list of names and
events that made headlines starting in 1940,
has a disclaimer for a refrain:
“We didn't start the fire,
It was always burning,
since the world's been turning.”
Well, we’re not buying it.
Today, the world is on the brink of a clash of
civilizations, global warming has started to be-
come palpable, and there’s a war in every cor-
ner of the world.
The country, which was second only to Japan
after the war, is a sorry mess and the economic
laggard in the region. Corruption is part of life,
congress has never been so shameless, more
people are experiencing hunger and the only
hope is in a job elsewhere in the world.
Well, not quite the only hope.
There’s still us. There’s still our idealism and
our dreams and our hopes.
“It’s not your parents’ television.”
UniversiTV is not your parents’ slapstick and
face-slapping channel. Its goal is not high rat-
ings. That is why the channel is brave enough
to focus on a narrow segment of the popula-
tion. Its vision is to tap idealism -- that powerful
force that is alive in you but dissipates as you
grow older. We believe that this idealism, if
harnessed, can be provoked to grow and
bloom instead. It is a currency that we can ef-
fectively utilize for the benefit of others. Far
more powerful than wherewithal is the hunger
of a strong dream. The programming design of
UniversiTV comes from the ache to be of value
to the country.
We think that the magic of media can do more
than sell bars of soap -- it can help this genera-
tion mature better than our parents did, make
less mistakes, affect and infect others more,
survive the broken families we live in, beat the
system, break the cycle, and become the God-
fearing, country-loving leaders the young were
meant to become.
Our motto: Change the world while enjoying
your youth.
Watch, learn, and get
involved in the many
advocacies close to
the heart of the peo-
ple behind Univer-
siTV.
And have fun while
doing good -- lots of
fun. On your channel,
you can display your
talents; air your work,
challenge the world.
It’s your podium. It
will accept your pro-
ductions, pictures, recordings. It is a venue for
you to voice out your thoughts, ideals and con-
cerns, to air those hopes and dreams.
At the same time, it is a channel that broad-
casts all your events: campus activities, school
fairs, even schedules of exams, and other an-
nouncements. It keeps you linked, networked,
informed, up-to-date.
This is what UniversiTV is about.
A television channel for what we believe is The
Better Generation. And we’d like to do our
share in making that a reality. Because this
country, this world, needs better management.

U-Minute
WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH YOUR ONE MINUTE?
U-minute goes around campuses and malls and allows students to showcase their talents. They can dance, sing, orate, do a monologue, skateboard, play the violin -- anything. We record these attempts and air them. Some are shy performances, oth-ers are courageous stabs, but there are a few that are hidden treasures.
Re-porma
HOW TO LOOK SPIFFY WITHOUT SPENDING.
A style expert visits different dormitories and give students makeovers. The trans-formation won’t be done inside a salon, no need to shop for new clothes or go to a spa. The stylist will make use of the student’s old stuff in his closet and will help him make do with what he has to improve the his looks.
Indie Sikat
THE FUTURE OF PHILIPPINE FILMS.
Independent and young. The combination that makes for startling and novel work. The film industry will never be the same when these folks start doing films commercially.
Who’s Cool?
THEY’RE THE CAM-PUS GODS.
While they’re campus crushes and idols, these students are really ad-mired for what they do for others. And we don’t take their word for it -- their friends and schoolmates say, “look out, world, here they come.”
Tutor TV
IT’S THEIR HELP DESK ON AIR.
The resident ‘sir’ will give tips and quick tutorials. It is a service provided to the Uni-versiTV audience.
A hotline will be pro-vided for students who need help with their school work. A panel of smart stu-dents will act as the helpdesk and will offer them solutions or quick tutorials. Ques-tions that translate well to TV will be taped and aired.
A much-loved out-of-the-box
program!
Programs within a program, and all of them
dedicated to the concerns and interests of
students. Chopsuey is a 2-hour show flexible
enough to feature informative, entertaining
and exciting shorts about fashion, food,
school concerns, girls and boys.
And we’re coming up with more!

Future Finder
Finding jobs for its viewers.
Probably the worst thing to happen to a student is finishing years of school to join the ranks of the unemployed. So finding jobs for students is part of our vision.
The program provides the latest job offer-ings hot off the HR departments of top companies. We have just recently redes-
igned it to focus on entry-level opportunities for fresh
graduates and for the out-of-school youth.
The vision is to have peo-ple regard the station as the reliable source of in-
formation about jobs and career.

Honest TV Shopping
Infomercials with credible products.
In a world of scams and fakes, here’s a breath of fresh air! HTVS isn’t your typical home TV shopping program. It doesn’t carry false claims or exaggerations, magical potions, breast enhancers, ad nauseam.
The program showcases only high quality products and services, in-cluding health and beauty products, gadg-ets, home fixtures, and many others. ‘Honest!’

UniversiTV’s Mall Diva, Tracy Abad, hap-pens to be the topic of internet groups, a DJ

Sino Ako?
Questions of a generation.
Now on its third series, ‘Sino Ako?’ is a very simple stab at helping Filipinos understand Filipino-ness --
quirks, warts, idiosyncra-cies, charm, peculiarities. A common reaction to Gi-noong Ed’s responses to questions like, “Bakit lag-ing may naiiwan na piraso pag tayo ay kumakain?”, “Saan nag-uugat ang pagiging matapang ng mga Batangueño?” or “Bakit tayo nagmamano?” is pal-
pable swelling of pride. The Filipino is an endearing and unique race.
“Bakit... kabisado ni Ginoong Ed
ang ugali ng Pilipino?”
The most popular program airing on Univer-
siTV isn’t a even a full-length program.

It’s been six seasons of problems.
We’re here to listen.
Lifeguide
A counseling program
that helps students -- and
parents -- solve or manage
problems -- help them get
past the difficult episodes
quickly and smoothly. What-
ever problem they have, they
can call and ask for an ap-
pointment, and the LifeGuides
are there to help.
The program is a very
warm and inviting place
where the young can run to
for comfort and guidance.
From the charming “how do I
get noticed by this girl?” to the
gripping “Help me. I am
about to kill myself.” Lifeguide
is the easiest program to pro-
duce, and the most difficult
program to produce. Easy be-
cause all it takes is a phone, a
camera and the ears of Gema
and Elisa.
Difficult because the heart
is involved in the lis-
tening process, and
listening to problem
after problem after
problem takes a toll
on the health of the
Lifeguides.
But it’s been
worth it.
An appointment with the
Lifeguides is the most re-
quested item from Univer-

What’s Ur Cause?
A SOAPBOX FOR STU-DENTS
Everybody needs airtime -- to air one’s aches and con-cerns, university level, local or national.
Well, here it is: a program where students with causes and advocacies are given the time to espouse and dis-cuss them in public and all over the country.
Student clubs, foundations and non-governmental or-ganizations will find that the program will welcome them warmly. While we may not agree with all they espouse, UniversiTV will give them the time to say it.
Dream Maker
REAL ENCOUNTERS WITH THE HOPELESS
A program that encourages people not let go of their dreams, and to remain op-timistic. An inter-agency committee of private and government bodies will gather to discuss what they can do for the chosen youth of a particular episode. The Department of Health can recommend services for the health of the family of the subject, for instance. The Department of Education or TESDA can offer solutions. All addressing the specific set of conditions that pre-vent the subject from mov-ing forward.
Miracles Happen
DISSECTING THE INEX-PLICABLE
Real experiences of people who have confronted debili-tating medical conditions, and who have been healed miraculously, viewers are provided with objective and scientific proof that God indeed still works today.
Each episode features com-pelling accounts of these patients. Relatives and medical personnel will be interviewed to provide con-text and credibility. The program will dissect the condition of the patient and the healing.
Change Agents
LAST CHANCE FOR CHANGE
If a delinquent lad won’t listen to priest, parent or teacher, maybe he’ll listen to someone who’s been where he’s headed.
Bad eggs, black sheep -- the young recidivists of society -- are given special previews of their future. The program brings them to special heart-to-heart encounters with senior reformed criminals.
A boy apprehended by the police for pushing drugs is first brought by the pro-gram’s host to a former druglord, for instance. His reaction to the meeting can grant him leniency from the police.

There are 9 million-odd high school and col-lege students in the country.
They’re linked, networked, empowered, and
they swarm. They’re never alone in whatever
they do or buy.
They make things happen. The country
isn’t the texting capital of the world because of
the general population; and EDSA II wouldn’t
have happened without students as spark plugs.
They’re early adopters and heavy users. Buying
products nobody has heard of, listening to music
you’ll won’t hear on your station, or watching
programs still under the radar.
They can pledge allegiance to your brand -- or your competitors’ -- for life.
Softdrink companies know this well.
But it is a market that is relatively un-
mapped, usually bundled together with others as
“the youth”. Students are a completely separate
target market and should be treated as such.
Their viewing habits don’t even fit into pri-
metime as defined by the regular networks.
Simply stated, they’re not watching television
the way we are.

“Being more
technically adept, they
use the best editing
machine in the world,
the zapper – with

The Smart
Mob
Why they don't like our TV.
The "Nintendo children are different”.
All we notice is the short attention span.
We fail to realize that this under-30 gen-
eration thinks, and sees the world, in ways
entirely different from their parents.
Their brains are wired differently: It’s a
generation that grew up on video games
("twitch speed"), and MTV (more than
100 images a minute). Their brains proc-
ess information faster than we do.
Parallel Processing vs. Linear Process-ing
They’re doing homework while watching
TV and doing almost everything at the
same time. Today’s television is radio.
Speedwise, today’s television programs
are depressants. And we wonder why
they're bored with our TV.
Patience versus pay-off: “Get to the point.”
They have a huge intolerance for things
that don't pay off immediately.
They have neither the time nor patience
to sit around for something to unravel.
And, being more technically adept, they
use the best editing machine in the world,
the zapper – with impunity.
School is about relationships rather than
just learning. McCann’s Youth Study re-
veals that three-fourths of all students
love school, but are doing less school
work, less studying. Their attention is on
the other things happening around them.
Marketing to this unique segment re-
quires a deeper understanding of what
drives them.
UniversiTV: “Not your parents’ televi-sion.”
Introducing a channel all students watch.
A venue to voice out their thoughts, ideals
and concerns, showcase their talents, air
their work. It’s their podium: It will ac-
cept their productions, pictures, record-
ings.
UniversiTV broadcasts what’s important
to them: campus activities, school fairs,
rallies, concerts, schedules of exams, and
other announcements.
UniversiTV owns signed pledges of sup-
port from administrators and student
leaders of universities and colleges -- and
the list grows longer daily.
Designed for their way of watching.
The programming is designed differently,
with Sesame Street-sized information. We
cram, so we don’t bore them. And since
they are connected, we lead them to
other sources for depth and breadth.
Content is about them: their lives, prob-
lems, issues, covered and tackled by
young people.
If you need to talk to the young, if you
have identified students as a target market
for your message, product or cause, you
would do well to consider UniversiTV as
a platform.

SAdvertising pays for content.
Without ads, no medium will

Throughout history, advertisers and

But advertising is encountering
new difficulties and challenges. The
traditional advertisement is losing its

Gamut of choices.
There is a fixed number of hours
in a day, and the
viewer is busy
with his cell-
phone, the
internet, cable,
DVD mov-
ies. With the
gamut of
choices in
media, of
points of contact with the consumer,
advertisers must learn to utilize the pro-
gram portion – the content – to reach
audiences in a more meaningful and
powerful way. Using content allows us
the ability to promote products within
programming. And, no, we’re not talk-
ing about casual advertising.
UniversiTV provides clients with
customized brand-driven content (edu-
tainment, branded entertainment, how-
ever we call this new form of market-
ing), or programming designed to create
consent for a product in the mind of the
consumer in an entertaining and sincere
manner.
Content: A marketer’s dream.
To a marketer, the opportunity to
equip itself with the ability to create
content is a dream: To go beyond the
restrictions of 30 seconds, flesh out
product stories, insinuate products every
so often, at every turn.
UniversiTV allows marketers to
explore the limits of content, so they
may utilize these potentials to build
bonds with the consumer – and tend to
those bonds, strengthen and care for
them in a manner no television spot can
hope to do.
Beyond 30 seconds.
The UniversiTV team combines
extensive marketing, advertising, broad-
casting, sales and production experi-
ence. See Who we are. This makes for a
coalition of skills and expertise unique
in the industry. Whether it's an intersti-
tial or a branded segment, they can
present product stories that are true to
their advertising strategies in the most
entertaining manner.
This capability allows the channel
to be inordinately flexible in their spon-
sorship offering. They can integrate
your product message imaginatively --
beyond the usual bug logos and
“brought to you by” blurbs.
In schools everyday.
UniversiTV is more than a televi-
sion station. A distinct and valuable part
of its existence is its affiliations with
various schools and student organiza-
tions. While you
can reach your
consumers with
on-air promo-
tional spots,
UniversiTV
can present
your mes-
sage off-
channel through events and activities in
schools and in other venues frequented
by your market.
Do call the UniversiTV marketing
team to show you how they can expand
your above-the-line efforts with branded
content, consumer promotions, mer-
chandising, events and other marketing
channels.

HOURS:
We are on air from
4:00 PM to about
4:00 AM.
So we're there for
our audience when
they get home, then
we alternately bug,
entertain, teach,
tickle them, make
them laugh and cry
all through the
night, signing off
when they go to
sleep.
