1996 – First students enrolled on the specialization “Sociology” at the Faculty of Economics
1999 – Faculty of Sociology became separate

2003 – opening of joint MA program “Integrated Social Analysis” with Moscow State School of Social and Economic Sciences (Head - Prof. Dr. Alexander F. Filippov)2005 – opening of M.A. program “Applied Methods of Social Analysis of Markets” (Heads - Prof. Dr.Vadim V. Radaev / Prof. Dr. Alexander O. Kryshtanovsky)

2005 – establishing of ‘basic chairs’ of Public Opinion Foundation and GfK Russia
2007 – establishing of ‘basic chair’ of Levada-Center
2005 – cooperation agreement with Cologne university (Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences) on academic exchanges
2007– cooperation agreement with Jena university on academic exchanges
2007 – establishing of educational Lab on Economic Sociology (head – Prof. Vadim Radaev)
2008 – cooperation agreements with Paris-10 Nanterre on academic exchange and establishing of DD MA programs in Sociology and Kingston university (Faculty of Business and Law, Business School) on academic exchanges in Entrepreneurship research

2007 – establishing of scientific Lab on Sociologic Research (Moscow part of the GEM Russia team, head - Prof. Dr. Alexander Chepurenko)
2008 – first Summer School on Economic Sociology
2008 – start of a joint students’ research project with Cologne university on ‘Economic Moral and Behavior’ (based on European Social Survey data)

2008 – establishing of a supervising Board (leading Russian companies)
2008 – Faculty lead consortium of 12 universities wins in a competition on development of a new Stat standard of higher education on the field of Sociology
2008 – Faculty of Sociology organizes the sessions and sections of the 3rd Russian Sociological Congress (more than 1500 participants, ca. 70 events etc.)
2009 – 2 new MA programs in establishing: Sociology of the Public Sphere and Social Communication (Head – Prof. Dr. Nikita E. Pokrovsky) and Demography (Head – Pof. Dr. Anatoly Vishnevsky)
