    Your student ID card

    Your student ID card is alsoyour library card. It is importantthat you carry this card with you

    at all times when on campusas it is your proo that you are aregistered student.

    You will need your StudentID card to enter and leavethe University Library and toborrow books at all campuses.

    Activating your computer account

    You will need to activate your University computer account beorUniversitys online resources. You can do this rom on or o cam

    online instructions on how to log on to the Portal at http://nn.n/

    You will need your PIN to:

    Use the printers/photocopiers;

    Reserve books;Borrow books using the sel-issue and return machines.

    Your PIN will be emailed to your University email account. See thpage 12 or urther inormation.

    Your timetableWhen you have activated your computer account, you will beable to access your timetable o lectures and seminars by:

    Clicking on the Your Timetable icon on the desktop oyour University computer account when you are on campus;

    Logging on to Blackboard (see the Blackboard sectionon page 11 or instructions).

    Finding books

    The quickest and easiest way to locate books in the University LResources Centres is to use the library catalogue. The library cataccessed on and o campus.

    Borrowing books

    Books can be checked out or a variety o loan periods. These in

    2 week (normal loan);

    1 week;3 day.

    Books in high demand may be kept in the Core Collection. Thesborrowed on a short loan basis (4 hours or overnight i taken out

    Due dates and fnes

    Books are checked out to you or a limited period to ensure thataccessible to all. I you would like to check out a book or longerlong as nobody has requested it. Books that have been requesthave to be returned. You will be ned or books that are not retuthe due date. This is to encourage you to return the book.

    We will send an email 24 hours beore your books are due back your responsibility to return or renew books by the due date.

    You can renew books by:

    Logging on to the library catalogue (you will need your Accounthe book is due back;

    Telephoning the University Library or Learning Resources Cent

    Sel-service

    The University Library has sel-issue and return machines and HuCentre has a sel-issue only machine.

    You will need your Student ID card and PIN to use them. Pleaseon the screen and do not orget to take your receipt as it will tell are due back.

    Finding and using journals

    Journals (also known as periodicals or magazines) are publicatiointervals (weekly, ortnightly, monthly etc.), which help you keep u

    The University has over 40,000 ejournals. I you have a specic alooking or, you can use the Electronic Journals A-to-Z http://nn

    Once logged on to the Electronic Journals A-to-Z you need to tyjournal (not the title o the article) into the Find box.

    Printing/photocopying

    There are printers/photocopiers available in all our centres. You wo printing credits at the beginning o each academic year. Once

    We have a range o specialist sotware and equipment to assist additional needs. These include:
