Note: A student is considered to be retained if he/she enrolls for credit in the subsequent fall semester. Retention rates are

calculated at two reporting levels: university level and UA System level. University level retention rates represent whether or not a

student was retained at the same university at which he or she started, while the UA System level retention rate represents whether

or not a student was retained at any university in the UA System the following fall. The university cohorts are determined based on

student class standing, full-time status, and degree combination at the university level. The UA System cohorts are determined

based on student class standing, full-time status, and degree combination at the UA System level.

Undergraduate Degree-Seeking - Received Any Undergraduate Degree, Certificate or Occupational Endorsement

*The comparative nationwide six-year graduation rate of bachelor degree seeking students at public, four-year, open

admission institutions was 30.7% in FY18 (NCES 2018, https://nces.ed.gov/programs/digest/d18/tables/dt18_326.10.asp).

Note: Graduation rates are calculated at two reporting levels, the university level and UA System level. University level graduation rates

represent whether or not a student graduated from the same university as he or she initially entered, while UA System level graduation

rates represent whether or not a student graduated from any university in the UA System. A student is counted the first time they receive

a degree and if multiple degrees are earned in one year, the highest degree is selected. The university cohorts are determined based on

student class standing, full-time status, and degree combination at the university level. The UA System cohorts are determined based on

student class standing, full-time status, and degree combination at the UA System level.

*The comparative nationwide six-year graduation rate of bachelor degree seeking students at public, four-year, open admission

institutions was 30.7% in FY18 (NCES 2018, https://nces.ed.gov/programs/digest/d18/tables/dt18_326.10.asp).

Note: Graduation rates are calculated at two reporting levels, the university level and UA System level. University level graduation rates

represent whether or not a student graduated from the same university as he or she initially entered, while UA System level graduation rates

represent whether or not a student graduated from any university in the UA System. A student is counted the first time they receive a degree

and if multiple degrees are earned in one year, the highest degree is selected. The university cohorts are determined based on student class

standing, full-time status, and degree combination at the university level. The UA System cohorts are determined based on student class

Table 2.03b Degrees, Certificates, and Endorsements Awarded by Program Delivery Type and University

FY16 - FY18

Starting in FY16, the University of Alaska defined e-Learning as planned learning thatpredominantly occurs in situations where a student is not required to be in a predeterminedlocation. UA programs are categorized into hybrid delivery or distance delivery categories, basedon the ability to complete 50-99 percent, or 100 percent of program course requirements by e-Learning, respectively. Programs that do not provide for at least half of the required courses to becompleted by e-Learning are classified as traditionally delivered for reporting. Historicalinformation has been updated to reflect current classification categories.

Ethnicity Race

Note: Student demographic information is self-reported. UA utilizes an unduplicated race categorization, although students often

identify as more than one race/ethnicity. This compilation method allows each student to be counted uniquely. For example, if a

student declares as Alaska Native and White, that person would be recorded as one Alaska Native student, for a total headcount of

one.
