4-H Office Photo Challenge pictures have been selected! Congratulations to 4-H'ers and Alumni who had photos selected and hung in the Extension Office. All were notified by mail on which photos were chosen. Pictured are the Ag grouping and the Nature grouping. So far, 23 photos from 10 photographers were chosen. Good News! We are not done! We will be selecting more photos in the future.4-H Office Photo Challenge II - We are also issuing another challenge for animal photos - especially chickens, farm animals and wildlife (includes birds, mammals, reptiles/amphibians, insects, etc.). 4-H'ers can submit up to 5 photos for this additional challenge. Please submit by October 2nd.

4-H Record Book Workshops will be scheduled this fall as soon as the new project and summary record forms are ready. There will be multiple workshops for all age levels (Clover, Jr/Int & Senior) as well as new members eligible to complete the Mini-Record Book. Look for workshops at the Extension Office, club meetings or you can schedule a session from October – December. I strongly suggest all 4-H’ers sign up and attend a record book

workshop! 4-H In Africa – Tanzania - Interested in the “Trip of a Lifetime”? MD 4-H is planning its 3rd

humanitarian trip to Tanzania, Africa in 2018 in efforts to promote global education and intercultural experience. There will be travel, community service and fun excursions to a photo safari, a beach on the Indian Ocean and trips to local markets and shops. If you are at all interested, please contact the

4-H Booths at Tractor Supply, Saturday September 16 th , 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. Part of Pet Appreciation Week – A great opportunity to publicize 4-H is here! Fuzzy Tails 4-H Club will have a fundraising bake table and 4-H will have an info booth with materials and activities. We are looking for volunteers to help for an hour or however long you can give. Baked goods are also welcome.

2017 Maryland 4-H Teen & Volunteer Forum will take place November 17-19 at the Clarion Inn in Frederick. The weekend event is designed to unite volunteers and teens from around Maryland for engaging training and networking opportunities. Whether you come for a day or stay for the weekend, we hope you come to Learn by Doing in order to help the Maryland 4-H Program make the best better! The whole family is welcome to come and learning tracks are provided for youth ages 5-11 in Clover, Junior and Intermediate tracks which will easily allow parents to attend the training tracks that span the breadth of 4-H programming; Agriculture to Camp, Clubs to S.T.E.M. activities and more. There is something for everyone! Save the date and join us in Frederick Co. with 4-H youth and volunteers from across the state. I will be teaching a public speaking class Sat. morning. There will be many engaging and hands-on workshops. Registration materials and information will be available soon and sent out via email. Scholarship monies are available to offset cost of registration for youth and volunteers but hotel reservations and costs are on your own. Contact Beth if interested in attending and want more info. Kent Clover Kids Program! The monthly program for Clover Age youth ages 5-7 years. 3 sessions remain in 2017, 1 per month. A MD 4-H Foundation grant is helping fund the event! Here is the upcoming schedule of sessions: Pumpkins, Sat. October 28, 1-3 pm, Extension Office.

November 12th, 1-3 pm – Recycling; December Thurs. 12/21 – WreathsAll workshops will be hands on & snacks will be provided. Participants must register the week of the program.
