University of Perpetual Help System Laguna City of Biñan, Laguna, Philippines, 4024 (+63)2779-5310 • 544-5150 • 544-5161 local 2121 www. uphsl.edu.ph INTERNATIONAL & EXTERNAL AFFAIRS OFFICE 1st Virtual Institutional Job Fair 2020 Google Meet Conference October 29-30, 2020 The University of Perpetual Help System Laguna with the Student Personnel Services Department (Alumni and Placement Center), International and External Affairs, and College of Computer Studies and Information Technology System in coordination with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO-Biñan) and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-Laguna) held its Ist Virtual Institutional Job Fair 2020 last October 29-30, 2020. The activity aims to connect job seekers, the Alumni of the University; and the employers, the industrial companies during this pandemic times; to provide the alumni the opportunities to choose what companies to apply; and likewise offer an opportunity to jumpstart the professional life of the alumni through an online job placement activity in adaptation of the new normal. On the other hand, the virtual job fair was attended by almost one hundred (100) UPHSL alumni and eighteen (18) government agencies and industrial companies. Mr. Romualdo A. Garcia, PESO Manager of PESO-Biñan delivered the welcome remarks followed by the opening remarks of Mr. Guido R. Recio, Director of DOLE Laguna. Likewise present was Mr. Christian Q. Sukhwani, batch 2020 representative who gave a message for the attendees on behalf of the UPHSL alumni. The program was followed by a “Career Coaching” where Ms. Jane Corcuera, the PESO Manager of the Province of Laguna and Mr. VJ Ramzel A. Pedron, UPHSL 2016 Alumnus, acted as moderators. The career coaching was participated by Ms. Zoe de Rivera, Industry Academe Linkages Lead and Consultant for Talents Development for IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines; Engr. Emerito L. Rojas, Executive Director III for National Council on Disability Affairs; Mr. Harley Dave Beltran, owner and CEO for HH Leather Goods; Mr. Bryan Hernandez, owner and CEO for East & West Center for Excellence Training; Ms. Daisy G. Ramos, Senior Labor and Employment Officer for the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE); Ms. Jorenz Samonteza, Recruitment Officer for Motorcentral Group of Companies; and lastly, Ms. Maria Isable Veluya, Marketing and Sales Officer for Pag-IBIG Fund Biñan, who all acted as panelists. It was followed by Ms. Alma Jallorina, Alumni and Placement Center-In-Charge, gave the “virtual job fair flow” to the UPHSL alumni. Lastly, Dr. Josefa G. Carrillo, Director for International and External Affairs delivered the closing remarks. Further, the awarding of certificates to the participating industrial companies, panelists, and moderators was done by Ms. Nova Marie Estabillo, Director for Student Personnel Services. According to PESO-Biñan , the University was the first higher academic institution in Binan City, if not in the whole Province of Laguna, having this Ist Virtual Job Fair, and this is due to a long time partnership of the two. Meanwhile, the participating industrial companies includes the following: On-Semiconductor, Qwerty Labs, Motorcentral Group of Companies, Franklin Baker Company of the Philippines, Emperador Distillers Inc., Denso ten, EMS Services Phils. Inc., Asia Brewery Inc., and JUNTEC Corporation.
