What is ZiS?

• Zentrum für internationale Studierende (Centre for International Students)

– We have been active since 2002, helping the international students at our university with their initial orientation and integration, as well as organize social events to enjoy their stay in Germany

Monthly Events!

• Registration daily in room 2.37 at the Campus Centre (building A4 4) from 11.00 to 13.00 hrs

– Excursions in Germany and its surroundings (such as Luxembourg, France)

– Tours of the Campus– Tours of Saarbrücken („Altstadt“ and

„Saarbrücken–Alternativ“)

Excursions…• Normally the 3rd or

4th Saturday of the month

• Lasts all day• With the bus or train• Accompaniment with

ZiS tutors• Price: 15€ / 20€• Examples: Saarland

Luxembourg, Trier Heidelberg, Mainz Metz, Frankfurt Book Fair, etc.

• Every 3rd Wednesday of the month, from 12.00 to 13.00 hrs

• English or German (other languages at request)

• City Tour „Saarbrücker Altstadt“ (Old Town of Saarbrücken):– Lasts 2 hours– In April and October– In German or English

• City Tour with the bus „Saarbrücken-Alternativ“ (Saarbrücken–Alternative):– Tour of the „Saarbrücken

of the National Socialism“

– Lasts 4 hours– In September

• We organize this programme since 2001, with which Saarbrücken‘s students from all courses and semesters can meet and support international students in their daily lives

• There are also special excursions, visits to exhibitions, and the „ZiS–Treff“

• Sign up in our office, room 2.37 in the Campus Centre (Building A4 4) daily from 11.00 to 13.00 hrs

„Spezialitätentage“ (Culinary Specialty Days) in the Mensa

• Every Wednesday, a country presents its culinary culture:– The Mensa will serve a typical dish from the

country– InfoStand in the Mensa Foyer– Music – Dancing – Multimedia presentations– InfoFlyer

„Länderabende“ (Cultural Evenings)

• General information about the country

• Cultural presentation of the country with live music, dancing, and games

• Preparation of typical dishes and finger food from the country

• No registration necessary

„ZiS – Treff“• Twice a month:

– ZiS-Treff-1 in Saarbrücken– ZiS-Treff-2 in Canossa

University (Mensa building, basement)

• One free drink and board games, meeting interesting people, common cultural interests, … either way a ton of fun!
