#ActiveBadger Day Returns!

#ActiveBadger Day returns for another year on February 28th! The day  features more than 30 activities meant to encourage Badgers to move and live well! Some exciting events happening include:

Group fitness classes occurring in Recreational Sports facilities are free for this event but participants must be a UW-Madison student or rec sports member. Group fitness classes occurring elsewhere are free and open to all students and UW employees.

Join local bicycle advocator, India Viola, and the University Bicycle Resource Center, to learn how to keep your bike running smoothly throughout the year. You will learn

how to clean and lubricate your chain and other routine maintenance skills. Bring your

1. Eat less sodium to reduce fluid buildup in the body2. Eat more homemade foods

and less store bought/take out meals3. Be careful when eating phosphorus, protein, and potassium- although healthy for a normal diet, these foods can cause complications when living with CKD4. Many foods eaten to treat low blood sugar are harmful to the kidney's so try to make simple swaps and avoid these foods5. Most importantly, consult a dietician to learn the exact diet you should follow

America Saves Week

Looking to meet new financial goals in 2019? America Saves Week is a national occasion co-hosted by America Saves and the American Savings Education Council. The event is meant to inspire people and families to save money and build wealth!

The UW System is hosting America Saves Week events from February 25 to March 1 at all campuses for FREE. UW-Madison events include

Budgeting 101, UW Credit Union Credit Checkups, and Achieving Financial Goals.

By 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean. It is important to take steps to reducing pollution and waste. A healthy environment is a key component to increasing your own personal wellness! Take steps this spring to reduce your plastic pollution and call on others to do the same. Although everyone's steps may look different based on accessibility and ability, we can all work together to make, real positive change on the planet! Enjoy Indoor Yoga at the Memorial Union! Outdoor UW continues to host Terrace Yoga classes... indoors! Classes are held in the

Memorial Union's coziest spaces through May 4 (skipping spring break). All are welcome and classes are FREE for Union Employees; simply preregister at the Outdoor UW Office or register with the instructor the day of class. Mat rentals are also available

on site.

Join UWPD Field Day - April 26--By UW Police Department (with Field Day Planners Ruth Ewing, Jaimee Gilford, and Faye Reber)

Fellow Badgers, you are invited to participate in the inaugural UWPD Field Day!

What is Field Day?10 teams, 5 events, 1 champion and celebratory BBQ!  Teams will compete in a round-robin style competition of lightning kickball, giant Jenga, water balloon toss, a sack race and a lip-sync Battle of the Bands. Once we have a winner, all teams are invited to stay for music and a BBQ hosted by UWPD.

We at UWPD are always looking for ways to better connect with our community. By getting to know each other outside of our day-to-day roles as police officers, students,

employees and faculty, we will be able to strengthen our connection to each other as people and fellow Badgers.  We hope this will be first of many Field Days!

Your unit is invited to form a team of 9 employees and students. Each team will have a UWPD Co-Leader to round out the 10 members and compete for a chance at Field Day Champion glory!  We are hoping to have teams from UHS, Rec Sports, Division of Student Life, the Wisconsin Union, Residence Halls, University Apartments, DDEEA, Athletics, the Provost, and Advising join us for a fun-filled afternoon. Field Day is free; all we need from you is you!

Day of (Kids) Play

Day of Play is hosted by American Family Insurance and UW-Madison students to encourage kids to enjoy movement-based activities! In addition to activities, there will be snacks (provided by KIND) and giveaways!
