EDUCATION
THE UN IVERSITY
Twenty-five years ago, in March 1962, the University College of Wallongong was founded as a college of the University of New South Wales. The founding of the new college in Wollongong was in parI at least the outcome of the initiative and hard work of a Citizens Committee tn Wollongong. They worked to convince the government of the need for a university in Wollongong and 10 raise funds (nearly $270,000) to assist with its inauguration. We are much indebted to that group and the
ci ty for both initial and con tinuing support.
