Description:
http://www.kpipartners.com/watch-unpacking-the-new-oracle-bi-apps-now-with-odi ... The new release of the Oracle BI Applications (11.1.1.7.1) now leverages Oracle Data Integrator (ODI). This huge development means that ODI can alternatively be utilized as the primary data integration tool over Informatica. ODI and its Extract-Load-Transform functionality could provide customers a setup that delivers increased performance and reduced data integration costs. Watch this on-demand recording to see an overview of the latest Oracle Business Intelligence Applications architecture as well as a detailed look into each of the components of the new BI Apps. Vikas Agrawal (KPI) and Hari Cherukupally (Oracle) explore: ODI for BI Apps architecture Components of the BI Applications Integration with operational systems: Is this supported ERP/CRM sources or application integration? Fusion Middleware components: How is this different from OBIA components? Enabling insight & alignment across business functions with OBIA Guests: Vikas Agrawal, VP Applications, KPI Partners Hari Cherukupally, Principal Product Strategy Manager, Oracle

• Contains extract and load

mappings divided into SDEs,

SILOS and PLPs

• Supports incremental

aggregate loads. No truncate

• Separate SCD and

Unspecified mappings are

not required as it is now

handled by KMs.

① Behind-the-scenes utility for generating ODI load plans (think execution plans) to orchestrate data load based on selected fact groups

② LPG uses Configuration Manager and ODI metadata to create a load plan containing only appropriate tasks to load desired fact groups

③ Set of library files deployed into WLS

① A Load Plan is an executable object in ODI that can contain a hierarchy of steps that can be executed conditionally, in parallel, or in series. A Load Plan is the largest executable object in ODI, using scenarios in

its steps.

② Packages, interfaces, variables, and procedures can be added to Load Plans for executions in scenarios. Load plans are not substitutes for packages or scenarios,

but are used to organize at a higher level, the execution of packages and scenarios.

③ Load Plans also support exception handling strategies, in the event a scenario ends in error.

Source Dependent Data Store (SDS)• Optional, requires additional licenses• A separate schema on the BI Apps DW database• replication of the source OLTP systems tables via Golden Gate.• Modular control on a Fact by Fact / Dimension by Dimension basis.• Can be leveraged for operational reporting.

Golden Gate • Replication of data in heterogeneous data environments. • Enables high availability solutions, real-time data integration, transactional

change data capture, data replication, transformations, and verification between operational and analytical enterprise systems.

• A service that can be deployed on both Source and Target databases for continuous asynchronous change data capture in real-time.

Features and Benefits

Flexibility

Performance

Near-zero impact of ongoing extraction. No ETL batch load windows required as near real time ETL can be

enabled. Full ETL reloads can be executed without taxing the source system. Consistent CDC approach regardless of source. Hard deletes in source generates Golden Gate events. Transformations and star loads all local in BI Apps DW schema. Ability to change indexes, add views. Perfect source for real-time reporting requirements.
