Project initiatives by UNSD and TNSO in 2010

UNESCAP Meeting 29-31 March 2010

UNSD visit NSO, Thailand 1-3 December 2010

27 September 2011 Cooperation Agreement signed with UNSD

Objectives of Agreement

• Establishment and maintain the institutional framework

• Maintain the existing data exchange infrastructure

• Undertake the development of a single central repository

• Responsible for the recruitment and administration

• Prepare and submit reports

• The project is carried out in parallel with the National Statistical Master Plan 2012-2014

• Resulted from the working groups, National Development Indicator + MDGs, ASEAN indicator, Questionnaires from UN agencies etc were proposed

• We remain using the existing Stat eXchange infrastructure with some revisions of drawbacks encountered

• Disseminate through web site using technology web services by XML

• Cloud computing and SDMX are under consideration

• Local Consultant was recruited under Term Of Reference under the Thai Government regulation for recruitment

• Under the TOR, consultant will help to prepare reports

• Thailand Official Statistics web site will be introduced and will play a portal role to country central statistical repository (TNSS)

How project works in Thailand

Progress up-to-date

• Thailand National Statistical System Master Plan is under implementation,

– involving all line ministries, departments and provincial levels

– establishing a clear coordination platform

– supervising by the Statistical Committee appointed by Cabinet

• Revision of NSO’s StatXchange system will be implemented, including cloud computing, sdmx and official statistics

• Implemented strongly focusing on the framework of TNSS 9

• The KNDI Draft has already prepared and will be finalized the next workshop in March 2013.

• Determine data release calendar and responsibility person in March 2013.

• NSO staff were trained - SDMX and national registry set-up

• NSO respond for input our data and metadata – related to MDG

• Support the line agency to input their own data to the system and share to each other
