Entrance Examinations
JEE (Main) is the first examination any candidate seeking
admission into IITs, ISM, NITs and deemed Universities must
appear. JEE (Main) is having one paper of 3 hours duration
with objective questions from Physics, Chemistry and
Mathematics. The examination is held on 1st/2ⁿ Sunday of
April every year. The JEE (Main) is conducted in two separate
modes i.e. Offline (Pen and Paper Based Examination) and
Online (Computer Based Examination). The number of
attempts which a candidate can avail at JEE (Main) is limited
to three.
About 2,20,000 top candidates: Top 1,11,100 (50.5 %)
Common Merit List, Top 59,000(27%) Other Backward
Classes- Non creamy layer OBC (NCL), Top 33,000 (15 %)
Scheduled Caste (SC), Top 16,500(7.5 %) Scheduled Tribe
(ST) based on the performance of JEE (Main) (Paper 1)
(including all categories) are eligible to appear in JEE
(Advanced).
The JEE (Advanced) examination is like old IIT-JEE having two
separate papers with both of them containing questions
from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of 3 hours
duration each. The examination will be conducted as CBT
(Computer Based Test) beginning 2018. The questions are
objective type but each question tests the student on the
thoroughness of his/her knowledge of the subject. The
examination is held in May end every year.
Admission for IITs is based on rank obtained in the JEE
(Advanced). A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a
maximum of two times in consecutive years irrespective of
whether or not he/she passed the Qualifying Examination.
Admission for NITs and other deemed universities is on the
basis of score in JEE (Main).

Our teaching methodology is unique and our main focus is on developing
the thinking ability of the student. We try to instill subject knowledge in
such a way that the student should be able to apply the learnt concepts in
any situation. We not only try to provide excellent content but also put in lot
of efforts in delivery of the content. Emphasis is given on in-depth
understanding of the subject through solving a large variety of problems
after providing sufficient theoretical input. In addition to the stated
academic goals, we also attempt to inculcate virtues like discipline, hard-
work and self-reliance among students.
Doubt class sessions are held everyday for clearing of doubts of the students.
English is the primary language of instruction in the class. Teachers do
respond in Hindi when queried in Hindi but emphasis is given on English as it
is the medium of teaching in IITs, NITs as well as in Medical Colleges. We have
special comprehension / communication classes for students who come
from non-English medium schools. These classes will be held during the
initial months of the courses.
Tests are conducted regularly to monitor the progress of students. The
answer-sheet is posted on the website for students to review. Progress
report along with student attendance information is sent to parents via post
/ SMS / Email.
Teaching Methodology
Medium of Teaching
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
Batch formation and changes
Students are allotted various batches. The batch formation is done by
Batch Allotment Test just before the course begins. For the subsequent
batch formations, the student performance during previous module(s) is
taken into account. While calculating score for batch change, maximum
weightage is given to current performance, followed by previous score
and attendance for the concerned period. Students with similar
performance are kept together in a batch. Academic performance and
class attendance are the only criteria for batch allotment. The number of
batches and strength of each batch is decided as per the discretion of
Prerna Classes.
Motivation and Personal Counseling
The preparation for competitive examinations is a demanding exercise.
The pressure to compete is tremendous and sometimes students find it
difficult to cope-up with this pressure. A counselor can emotionally
strengthen students enough to manage the stress and eventually become
successful in the competitive environment. Motivational sessions are
conducted for students in groups at regular intervals. Individual
counseling sessions are also provided to needful students.
Prerna Classes Prospectus 2018 I Page 7
Website
Our comprehensive website www.prernaclasses.com provides
information about all of our activities. One can get details of the courses,
examination details, results and notices by just visiting the website. On-
line registration is also possible on our website. Students can see their
examination marks and can do performance analysis using the tools
available on our website. It is a handy tool for parents to monitor the
performance and attendance of their ward.
Scholarships
Economically backward meritorious students will be provided with fees
concession. Scheduled Tribe students exhibiting good academic
performance will be provided with fees concessions. The Fees concession
will be half of the fees for the respective course. Students whose parents
annual income is less than ` 2.5 Lakh will only be eligible for these
concessions.
Course Materials
Students are provided course material specifically designed for each
course having theoretical concept and home assignments. The course
material along with school text books and suggested reference books are
sufficient for the preparation and typically student would not need any
other academic resource.
Gifts and Memorabilia
Successful students are given gifts and a citation indicating his / her rank in the entrance examination on the annual function nite. A special counseling session is also arranged to help the students make the best choice of engineering branches at various institutes.
Plus 2 Education in Jamshedpur
The quality of school education in Jamshedpur is one of the best in the country.
There are many good schools in Jamshedpur providing quality education till the
plus 2 level. Majority of the schools are affiliated with the ICSE Board yet there
is no dearth of schools affiliated with the CBSE Board. The admission process
for the schools tentatively begins in the months of December and January every
year. The admission is on the basis of availability of the seats. Almost all schools
have a cut off mark and they conduct a written examination for admission in
class XI.
Prerna Blues & Prerna Gems
A special group of 25-35 top performing students (Std. XI & XII) forms Prerna
Blues. A special group of 25-35 top performing students(Std. IX & X) forms
Prerna Gems to have closer interactions with faculty members. The group has
regular off-class interactions with faculty members which also include outdoor
activities leading to better bonding between faculty members and students.
Members of the group are changed after batch change.
