STOP for School buses.

It’s the Law Please remember that it is illegal to

pass a school bus from either direc-

tion when the red lights are flashing and the stop sign is

extended. This has been a problem over at St. Mary’s So-

cial Center. Even though the bus is parked curbside, you

must pay attention for the red flashers and extended stop

signs on the buses. This is a signal from the bus driver for

you to stop because students are loading or unloading from

the bus. The bus driver will deactivate the flashers and

stop sign when it is safe for you to proceed.

Bus drivers have been directed to record violator’s vehicle

license plate number and report it to authorities. The

penalty for passing a school bus is $100 fine and six points

on your driver’s license. However, that penalty is nothing

compared to having to live the rest of your life knowing

you injured or killed a child for failing to stop for a school

bus. Please, for the safety of our students, obey the traf-

fic laws and do not pass a school bus from either direction

when the red lights are flashing and the stop sign is ex-

tended. Violators will be prosecuted to the full extent of

the law.

ACTIVITIES…….The Raider

Community continues to provide ex-

traordinary opportunities for our

students. Students are able to par-

ticipate in multiple activities. It is

important for students to find bal-

ance with activities, studies, and

down time. It is easy to get caught

up in the chaos of society.

ACTIVITIES REMIND-

ER…….. The attendance and extra-

curricular participation policy states

“Students participating in extracur-

ricular events, practices, or re-

hearsals must be in school for a

FULL DAY if they wish to be in-

volved in any extracurricular activi-

ty on that day,

evening, or fol-

lowing school

day. Students

who cannot at-

tend school on

the day of an

extracurricular

activity may be

exempted from

this rule only if

they have received prior permission

from the administration.”

A student that attends a doc-

tor’s appointment will be asked to

bring a doctor’s note to count as an

excused absence.

RAIDER SPORTSMANSHIP……..

Students need positive support

while participating in activities. It

is great to hear the crowd support

our teams. Let us represent our

community in a positive manner by

showing positive sportsmanship on and

off Raider campus. See you at the

games!

COMMUNICATION……..Please

feel free to call and discuss any educa-

tional concerns or questions you may

have regarding your student(s) learning

by setting up an appointment with the

teacher. We want to support student

learning through student, school, and

parent communication.

Rachel Gaab and Lorine

Diede prepared holiday meals for

the students at the High School.

HOLIDAYS……..The

Christmas Concerts were abso-

lutely beautiful. Thank you to all

who came to enjoy the students

with their musical talents. The

concerts were recorded by Dick-

inson Consolidated. If you have

consolidated cable, you will be

able to watch the concerts on

Channel 18. The schedule for

when the concerts will air may be

reviewed online at ctctel.com;

click on tv, click on channel 18,

and review the channel schedule.

SEMESTER 1 Ends...

January 15, 2015 is the

end of 1st semester. Semester

test days are January 14th and

15th. Tests will be broken up by

odd and even pattern so students

may focus on specific tests each

day. Tests for odd classes (1st,

Homeroom, 3rd , & 7th) will take

place on Thursday January 14th,

2015. Tests for even classes (2nd,

4th, 6th, & 8th) will take place on

Friday January 15th, 2015. Cours-

es offered 5a & 5b will remain at

the same time during lunch hours

and take place on both January

prepare by asking them their

testing schedule and helping them

organize study time for semester

tests!

student will compete at the state competition.

Good luck all of you, I am cheering for you.

If you walk down the halls at TRE, you would be

impressed with the variety of class work dis-

played. I am very proud of all your hard work

students. I know this will continue to happen in

2016. I have had the privilege of subbing in a

couple of the classrooms, helping out with pro-

jects in other classrooms, and observing some

of the students as they did

various presentations. I

know that a lot of good

things are happening in our

classrooms. Our students

are very fortunate to have

the vibrant staff we have

working with them in the

classrooms.

Beginning in January, the

fourth grade will have a

new face helping out in the

classroom. Mrs. Gullickson

is working with Dickinson

State University to mentor

a student teacher in her

classroom. I would like to

welcome Miss Shayna Dvo-

rak who will be joining us

here at TRE to work with

grade four. I would also like to welcome the

new students and parents that have joined our

TRE family. I am very glad you are here.

As always, please go through the newsletter

and take note of what will be happening in Jan-

uary. If you have any questions, concerns, or

celebrations you would like to share, my door is

always open. Please don’t hesitate to call or

stop in. Again, have a wonderful new year!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year one and all.

I hope you all have a blessed and prosperous

2016. I find it hard to believe that we are ven-

turing into a new year already. Where did 2015

go? Two weeks after we return to school on Jan-

uary 4th, we will finish the first semester. It has

been a busy and exciting first semester. I have

enjoyed my new position and have learned a lot. I

am fortunate to be working with a dedicated

staff, superintendent and school board. The stu-

dents are also working

hard to make this a

successful school year.

And parents, thank you

for all your assistance

and support. I am

looking forward to the

rest of the year.

A few highlights for

December were the 1-6

Christmas Concert, the

PK-K Christmas Pro-

gram, the Geography

Bee, the classroom

projects dealing with

Christmas, and the

movie. A special thank

you to all the staff

that contributed mon-

ey to give the students

the gift of the movie. I know the students are

very appreciative of your gift. A special thank

you also to PAWS and the community organiza-

tions for providing the goodie bags for our spe-

cial guest Santa.

The 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students will be com-

peting in the Geography Bee. The student receiv-

ing first place honors in the Geography Bee will

take the final test when school resumes in Janu-

ary. This test will determine whether or not the

Parents of Seniors: Remember that you should fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as soon as

you complete your 2015 taxes. To receive any federal funding (grants or loans), the FAFSA will need to be completed.

The FAFSA report will indicate the types of funding that your child will qualify for and the expected parent contribution.

https://fafsa.ed.gov/index.htm

Also, those students that would like to schedule the WorkKeys assessment to qualify for the ND State Scholarship,

please see either Dr. Vogle or Mrs. Jung so we can set up a time and date. WorkKeys requires three assessments which

are each approximately one hour long, so be prepared to spend a morning or an afternoon testing. The student will be re-

sponsible for the cost of the test, and it is $7.25 per assessment ($21.75 for all).
