On the Cover: What is this?According to Archivist Judy Levin Cantor, thissculpture by Morris Brose is appropriately namedZedek. It also is the sculptor’s interpretation of the18th letter of the Hebrew alphabet, which standsfor Life. It was a gift to CSZ from the Samuel andLouis Hamburger families. Look for it in the gardenarea to the right of the main Synagogue entrancedoors as you enter the building, next to the awning.

More than 60 young adults gathered at the home

of Shari and Heyden Graham for the Summer

Soiree, the first event in a new initiative to engage

young members and potential members of CSZ.

Attendees mingled with the clergy and officers,

enjoying sushi and Asian-themed cuisine, a kosher

wine tasting with sommelier Evan Barrett of Plum

Market, and musical entertainment by

Hazzan David Propis and Heyden Graham.

Above all, this was a great opportunity for

socializing. Photos from the event will be posted

in the August-September issue of The Recorder.

We especially want to thank Shari and Heyden for

opening up their beautiful home and the committee

members who created such a wonderful event:

Ilana and Adam Block

Amy and Stuart Brody

Meredith Cohen and Anton Babushkin
