Harry S. Truman Library Research GrantOctober 1, 2016Research Grants of up to $2,500 are awarded twice annually to offset the cost of conducting research at the Harry S. Truman Library and Museum.

The Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations Dissertation Research GrantsOctober 1, 2016

W. Stull Holt Dissertation Fellowship: Fellowship intended to defray the costs of travel necessary to conduct research on a dissertation project for students whose dissertation deals with some aspect of U.S. foreign relations history. Applicants for this award will be considered automatically for the Bernath, Gelfand-Rappaport-LaFeber, and Bemis grants.

Lawrence Gelfand – Armin Rappaport – Walter LeFeber Dissertation Fellowship: Fellowship intended to defray dissertation research travel costs for students actively working on dissertations dealing with some aspect of U.S. foreign relations history. Applicants for this award will be considered automatically for the Bernath, Holt, and Bemis grants.

Samuel Flagg Bemis Dissertation Research Grant: Fellowship to help defray the costs of domestic or international travel necessary to conduct research on scholarly projects for students actively working on dissertations dealing with some aspect of U.S. foreign relations history. Dumbarton Oaks FellowshipsNovember 1, 2016

Junior Fellowship: Fellowships for students who have fulfilled all preliminary requirements for the PhD or appropriate final degree and will be working on a dissertation or final project at Dumbarton Oaks under the direction of a faculty member at their own university.

Summer Fellowship: Fellowships for Byzantine, Pre-Columbian, or Garden & Landscape scholars on any level of advancement beyond the first year of graduate study.

Mellon Fellowships in Urban Landscape Studies: Fellowships intended for scholars and designers to pursue research on the history and current conditions of urban landscapes.

The Wenner-Gren Foundation Dissertation Fieldwork GrantsNovember 1, 2016Awarded to aid doctoral or thesis research. The program contributes to the Foundation’s overall mission to support basic research in anthropology and to ensure that the discipline continues to provide significant work that furthers our understanding of humanity’s cultural and biological origins, development, and variation.

DAAD Graduate Research GrantsNovember 4, 2016For those who have completed a Master’s degree and wish to conduct research in Germany, including those who wish to earn a doctoral degree in Germany.

Henry Luce Foundation/ACLS Program in China Studies Travel Grants November 9, 2016 Predissertation summer travel grants, postdoctoral fellowships as well as collaborative reading-workshop grants available for travel to China.

Leifur Eiríksson Foundation Scholarship Program November 15, 2016For graduate research or study at universities in Iceland. Up to $25,000 in project costs, including travel to and from the research or study site will be paid on the scholar’s behalf.

Critical Language Scholarship ProgramNovember 16, 2016U.S. government effort to expand dramatically the number of Americans studying and mastering critical foreign languages (Azerbaijani, Bangla/Bengali, Hindi, Indonesian, Korean, Punjabi, Swahili, Turkish, Urdu, Arabic, Persian, Chinese, Japanese, and Russian).

Works put into nomination (English only) may concentrate on any children’s book printed before the year 1901 in any country.

Paul Farmer Global Surgery Fellowship Research AssociateOctober 15, 2016One-year position for medical students who wish to take time off between their 3rd and 4th year of medical school, as well as for those who are enrolled in a health-related graduate degree program with an interest in global surgical care. Created to train leaders who will further promote surgical care, education, and research pertinent to global surgery. Fellows will develop academic, clinical, and administrative skills in global surgery, public health, surgical systems development, and humanitarian aid. Throughout the course of the Fellowship, there will be a focus on developing a skill set necessary to treat conditions common in resource-poor settings.

GEM MS Engineering Fellowship ProgramNovember 15, 2016Program is to promote the benefits of a master’s degree within industry. GEM Fellows are provided practical engineering summer work experiences through an employer sponsor and a portable academic year fellowship of tuition, fees, and a stipend which may be used at any participating GEM Member University.

Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship December 8, 2016 (anticipated) Awards for female graduate students in computer science, computer engineering, or closely related technical field. Includes support for the academic year and participation in the Annual Scholars’ Retreat.

Generation Google Scholarship Established to help aspiring computer scientists excel in technology and become leaders in the field.

Google Lime Scholarship December 4, 2016 Google has partnered with Lime Connect, a nonprofit organization that supports students with disabilities while they pursue education and promising careers, to help university students with disabilities work toward their academic goals in the field of computer science.

American Association of University Women Fellowships and Grants

International Fellowships December 1, 2016 Awarded for full-time study or research in the United States to women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Both graduate and postgraduate studies at accredited U.S. institutions are supported.

Career Development Grants December 15, 2016 Funding to women who hold a bachelor’s degree and are preparing to advance or change careers or reenter the workforce. Primary consideration is given to women of color and women pursuing their first advanced degree or credentials in nontraditional fields.

Roe L. Johns Travel Grants: Need-based travel grants awarded to graduate students in the area of education finance and policy who present papers at the AEFP Annual Conference.

American Academy of Audiology Fellowships and Grants October 4, 2016*See site for additional funding opportunities.

Student Summer Research Fellowship: This summer research fellowship is for students in a program in audiology or hearing science who wish to gain a limited, but significant, exposure to a research environment.

Student Investigator Research Grant: The purpose of this grant is to support doctoral students working toward a degree in audiology or hearing science who wish to complete a research project as part of their course of study.

National Academy of Education/Spencer Dissertation FellowshipOctober 6, 2016The Dissertation Fellowship Program seeks to encourage a new generation of scholars from a wide range of disciplines and professional fields to undertake research relevant to the improvement of education. Woodrow Wilson Dissertation Fellowship in Women’s StudiesOctober 15, 2016Encourages original and significant research about women that crosses disciplinary, regional, or cultural boundaries. Previous Fellows have explored such topics as transnational religious education for Muslim women, the complex gender dynamics of trans identity management, militarism and the education of American women, and the relationship between family commitments and women’s work mobility.

Global Religion Doctoral Dissertation FellowshipsOctober 17, 2016Fellowships are intended to promote among promising, young North American scholars the social scientific study of contemporary religions around the globe, especially in the “global south,” beyond the North Atlantic world (i.e., not the U.S., Canada, and Western Europe). They also intend to help better integrate the study of religion into mainstream social issues. Eligibile fields include Social Science, Political Science, Anthropology, Economics, Psychology, and Religion as long as the methodology is fundamentally social scientific.

Autism Speaks supports global biomedical research into the diagnosis, causes, prevention, and treatment of autism or its disabling symptoms. Funding supports the entire research continuum - from discovery to development to dissemination - for innovative projects that hold considerable promise for significantly improving the lives of those affected by autism.

American Psychological Association Elisabeth Munsterberg Koppitz Child Psychology Graduate FellowshipNovember 15, 2016The fellowship promotes the advancement of knowledge and learning in the field of child psychology in order to nurture excellent young scholars for careers in areas of psychology, such as child-clinical, pediatric, school, educational and developmental psychopathology and to support scholarly work contributing to the advancement of knowledge in these areas.

Amelia Earhart Fellowships from Zonta International Foundation November 15, 2016Established in 1938 in honor of Amelia Earhart, famed pilot and Zonta club member. The$10,000 Fellowships are granted annually to women pursuing PhD degrees in aerospace-related sciences or aero-space-related engineering. Women of any nationality pursuing a Ph.D./doctoral degree, who demonstrate a superior academic record in the field of aerospace-related sciences or aerospace-related engineering, are eligible and encouraged to apply.

American Association of University Women (AAUW) American Dissertation Fellowship November 15, 2016Fellowships for women pursuing full-time study to complete dissertations, conducting postdoctoral research, or preparing research for publication. GEM Fellowship ProgramNovember 15, 2016

PhD Engineering Program: The objective of this program is to offer doctoral fellowships to underrepresented minority students who have either completed, are currently enrolled in a master’s in engineering program, or received admittance into a PhD program directly from a bachelor’s degree program. Fellowships may be used at any participating GEM Member University where the GEM Fellow is admitted.

PhD Science Fellowship: The goal of this program is to increase the number of minority students who pursue doctoral degrees in the natural science disciplines — chemistry, physics, earth sciences, mathematics, biological sciences, and computer science. Applicants to this program are accepted as early as their senior undergraduate year, as well as candidates currently enrolled in a Master’s of Engineering program and working professionals.

ACLS/Robert H. N. No Family Foundation Dissertation Fellowship in Buddhist Studies November 15, 2016 The American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) announces the third year of an initiative supporting research and teaching in Buddhist studies, funded by a three-year grant of $6.7 million from The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation. Working with the Foundation, ACLS offers an articulated set of fellowship and grant competitions that will expand the understanding and interpretation of Buddhist thought in scholarship and society, strengthen international networks of Buddhist studies, and increase the visibility of innovative currents in those studies.
