from God and celebrating the Day of Atonement.
US History 7-8 - We are studying the Roaring Twenties and the explosive economic growth that
occurred during that century. To help us get a feel for investing money, we are conducting a
month-long stock market simulation. Each student was given $100,000 to spend on stocks. We
discussed some of the basic principles of investing and the terminology that goes with that.
Class rankings are updated in real time. The contest will end February 5th.
NEWS & NOTES
Good Morning! Here is what it happening in grades 4-5:
4-6 English/Language Arts - The students are quickly adjusting to our "Station Rotation"
schedule. Each day/ the students rotate through three of the following stations: Spelling/
Writing/ Small Group Literature Circle/ Computer (online practice with nonfiction texts and
English skills), and Independent Reading. Besides getting used to this rotation/ we are also
working hard to get our research report for the Science Fair written. A typed rough draft of
the report is due Tuesday, January 14.
4 Word of God- "The Tabernacle" / "The DayofAtonement" -God had specific rules for His
special people, the Israelites. While we no longer have to follow all of these rules - Jesus per-
fectly kept all of God's laws -we still long to worship our Lord with lives of thanks!
4-5 Science - "How Can You Get Rid of Mosquitoes?" Even
though it is winter in MN, we are looking forward to warmer
weather and planning ways to protect ourselves from bites this
year.
