Oak Trace Weekly Update August 21, 2020 A Note from Mrs. Lynch We've had a great full week of learning at Oak Trace, and we are all getting into the swing of things! The kids are doing a great job with masks, hand-washing, and social distancing. Everyone is getting used to the new schedule and the Internet is improving! A few updates, reminders, and contact numbers: * If your child is absent from school, please contact the attendance line at 317-867-6401 and state the reason for absence. If you need to report a Covid-19 related illness after hours please contact 317-867-8056. Information on Covid-19 screening is included in the newsletter. *The Kindergarten drop-off and pick-up line is at the Kindergarten circle drive. Grades 1-4 drop- off and pick-up are in the back of the building. If you have a Kindergarten child and other older children, you may drop-off both at the Kindergarten drive. *If you are having technology diculties at home, please contact the technology help desk at 317-867-8087. What's happeningin artIt is so fun to be back in the artroom and to see thosesmiling eyes???? It's great! Inkindergarten and 1st gradewe are beginning a project thatwill be displayed in thehallway like last year's 3rd and4th grade monochromaticportraits. They are workinghard to do their personal best.We can't wait for you to see it!In 2nd-4th grade are beginninga new project that allkiddos in West�eld who go tothe public school will beworking on.The art teachers of West�eldplanned lessons for thisdistrict wideproject and then added in theirown personal touch to it, that �ttheirstyle of teaching. BUT Sorry,we can't tell you about ityet.becausenot every kiddo in those gradeshave been to the art room .So stay tuned!!

What's happeningin PEWelcome back to schooleveryone! I love coming backto school. I feel so blessed thatI chose to teach PHYSICALEDUCATION and even moreblessed to be here at OakTrace! This is my 27th yearteaching P.E. My goal is toprovide a safe, positive, andnurturing learning environmentfor every student. I want themto feel as happy as I do whenthey are in P.E. class with me.The �rst week of school wealways go over the proceduresin P.E. class. Our lessonfocuses on spatial awarenessand how to move SAFELY in thegym. This year keepingpersonal space is even moreimportant. The kids are reallydoing amazing! What's happeningin MediaIt's been a great week in thelibrary! It has been a "B" week(on the specials schedule) sostudents who have library ontheir "B" week have come tosee me twice! Their �rst visitwill be a lesson, story, activity,etc. and their second visit willbe their time to check outlibrary books! Next week will bea "C" week, then a "D" week,and son on! I am still missingover 300 library books thatwere checked out last schoolyear! Eeek! Please look to seeif you might have a book orbooks at home and send themin as soon as possible! PTO providing staff appreciationEach year the OTES PTO provides breakfast, lunch, and snacksfor our teachers each month. In the past, we have relied on fooddonations from the parents but due to CoVID we are nowcatering and serving individual snacks. Due to thecircumstances, we are only doing a handful of staffappreciation events this school year. With parent monetarydonations, we hope to make these events amazing. We areplanning on a catered breakfast/ lunch on September 11 for

Rent the Rock!!!You may have noticed the large boulder in front of the school...this year you will have theopportunity to rent the rock and paint it for any special occasion, including but not limited tobirthdays, half birthdays, good luck on testing, teachers birthdays etc. We will only releasedates one month at a time at this time until we see how school unfolds. Please �nd the formon Membership Toolkit for more information.
CancellationsMany events have been canceled this year including All Pro Dad, Savor West�eld, MovieNights, and Walk A Thon. But don't despair we will hold a new fundraiser this fall called Rock AThon that will be 100% Virtual. We will send out more information in the coming weeks, butcan't emphasize enough how important this fundraiser is to our teachers this year. Many havebeen pouring money from their own pockets to get classrooms Covid ready and all pro�ts willgo directly back to our teachers this year!
In addition, all teacher/staff experiences from 2020 Winter Festival silent auction arecanceled. We apologize greatly for this inconvenience, but with all the Covid restrictions wehave no other options to honor those. Your money will be used as a donation to the PTO andwill go directly back into teachers' classrooms. However, if you wish to receive a refundplease email us at [email protected].
