Updates
A very big thank you to all the families that completed their raffle tickets sales this past month. To that end, we have
received a some questions regarding this year’s raffle changes as well as some of the other changes that have taken
place this year, including the SCRIP process. To help address some of the concerns, we have put together some FAQs
for both Raffle and SCRIP. I would encourage all of you to please contact myself or another SEPA member anytime
you have any questions or concerns regarding anything SEPA related. Our monthly SEPA meetings are another great
forum in which to bring your thoughts and ideas. I’m grateful to those that have been attending and encourage more
of you to attend in the future. Agenda topics can be emailed to [email protected]

Fall may be just beginning, but we’re already thinking about Christmas! We need
coordinators for several facets of the Christmas Shoppe, to help things run as
smoothly as possible and provide the most fun experience for our students!
Lead Buyer / Coordinator of the Christmas Shoppe – This person coordinates the
event and is also a buyer for the event. The current coordinators will assist you in
running this year’s event .
Decorations Coordinator – The Decorations Coordinator is in charge of making
sure the Shoppe looks great! This person will be responsible for setting up all
Shoppe decorations, and possibly purchasing more decorations where needed.
If you are interested is any of the above positions, please contact Jackie Mruzik at
(313) 300-8694, [email protected]
Helping Hands
The Christmas Shoppe
needs your help!
Planning is underway for the 2016 Auction & Wine Tasting, our school’s largest fundraiser. This event
is 100% parent organized, and we need as many volunteers as we can get. If you are interested in vol-
unteering on or chairing an auction committee, please email [email protected]. Help is needed for
the following areas:
Marketing: Plan promotion and publicity of the events. Make exciting posters and fliers, write updates
for Facebook, the school website, and periodic email blasts to promote the auction to the school, par-
ish, and surrounding community.
Solicitations: Solicit items for live and silent auction from friends, family and local businesses; in-
cludes individual items (big and little) as well as scouting out underwriting items for big-ticket
items (e.g. food and wine donations, vacation homes). This is a great job to do at home and on
your own time.
Intake: Collect and organize items for the auction as they are donated and input these items into
the auction database with a creative description. This is a great job if you're highly organized,
have flexible hours and have a flair for creativity.
Audio Visual: Develops the entertainment for the auction (e.g. video or slide show or similar) plus de-
velops the slide show of items for the live auction.
Decorations: Team to plan theme and decorations, purchase decorations and decorate the auction ven-
ue the day of the event.
**As we get closer to the event we’ll also be looking for people to assist with Check In and Check Out, Clean
Up, and Post Auction. **
More Information Will Be On the School Website Soon, Including Donation Request Forms.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
2016 Auction and Wine Tasting
RAFFLE
F.A.Q.
Why did the raffle change?:
While everyone loves a chance to win, the raffle hadn’t changed over the decades since it began and was
much more profitable for the winners than the school. In addition, it’s a time intensive commitment for the
volunteers who oversee it. In order to bring the raffle back in line with being one of the larger fundraisers
and reducing the time commitment for our volunteers, SEPA did an overhaul of the entire raffle program,
with most of the changes taking place this year, and all of the changes in effect by next fall.
What Changes were made?:
The turn in deadline was pulled forward to October; the drawing period was condensed, so that the winners will be drawn over a 50 day period rather than over 12 months; and the payouts were changed to:
*10 chances: $25 prize (x10 days) = $250
*10 chances: $50 prize (x10 days) = $500
*10 chances: $100 prizes (x10 days) = $1,000
*10 chances: $150 prizes (x 10 days) = $1500
*10 chances: $200 prizes (x 10 days) = $2000
*Grand Prize $1000
When will the winners be drawn?
This school year the winners will be drawn January—February 2016. Next school year the winners will be
drawn November-December 2016 (Christmas Cash!). The November-December time frame couldn’t be
accommodated this year since payouts from last year’s raffle ticket sales will continue until December 31st.
While there never seems to be a good
time of year to ask for money, the Raffle
is the only SEPA event where we ask par-
ents to personally raise money for the
school. SEPA tries to offset any financial
burden on families by offering all fami-
lies the opportunity to sell their tickets
after various masses.
What’s SCRIP?
It’s a no sell fundraising program. Families purchase gift cards to use in place of cash
and credit cards, or to give as gifts. Families pay full face value for the gift cards and get
the full face value of what they paid.
How does it earn money for the school?
SEPA places an order on behalf of the families and pays less than the full face value for
cards (2 – 18% less, depending on the retailer). The difference is awarded to St.
Edith as a rebate and the rebate money is split with the purchaser.
Example: Purchase a Bath & body Works card for $20. Receive and enjoy your $20 gift
card either through Scripnow (online) or a physical gift card. Rebate is currently 18%,
or $3.60. Half of that, $1.80, will go to you and half to the school. Scrip rebate checks
are cut annually in February for ALL purchases made throughout the school year. Last
year’s families earned anywhere from $15 - $350 in rebate checks!!
How do I Order?
You can turn in a paper order via your child’s backpack (order forms are on the school
website: www.StEdith.com) or an online order at www.shopwithscrip.com. For online
order’s you’ll need to register, then enter the school enrollment code of 4C136L5A75L;
you’ll then have a choice of paying online or sending a check to school. Online orders
have the option of receiving 1. physical gift cards—which will be fulfilled by the follow-
ing Friday or 2. Scripnow—which is filled instantly and emailed to you to print or use on
your phone.
What form of payment should I send?
Send a check into the school office made payable to “St. Edith”. Checks received by
8:00 am Wednesday morning will be fulfilled the following Friday and sent home with
your child. Online orders can be paid through secure ACH online debit from your
checking/savings account.
