Upgrading OEM GC 10.2.0.5 to 11.1

Author: Rob Zoeteweij Date: 19-04-2010 http://oemgc.wordpress.com

So I started to download the software from http://delivery.oracle.com

The first zip file you download, contains a doc directory containing the installation guide. I started

studying the installation guide and followed all directions to make sure my system was configured

such that it would comply to all requirements for upgrading to EM 11.1

One of the requirements is to install WebLogic Server 10.3.2 that can be found on

http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/middleware/index.html

After copying file net_oepe111138_wls1032_linux32.bin to the /tmp of my Linux box, I executed the

file as follows:

This will startup the WebLogic installer.

`

Press [Next]

Now you need to enter the Middleware Home Directory.

I haven chosen to use /u01/app/oracle/middleware

Press [Next]

In order to be able to configure Oracle Configuration Manager I entered by My Oracle Support

credentials.

You might decide to skip this one and if you want configure later on.

Press [Next]

Enter a temporary directory

I also indicated that downloaded files will be removed after the installer has finished.

The EM 11.1 Installation Guide instructs you to go for a "Typical" installation

Press [Next]

As I have chosen to use the Net Installer, software is now being downloaded.

The Typical installation includes the WebLogic Server and the Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse.

Confirm a directory location for both components.

Press [Next]

The Installation Summary is now displayed

Press [Next]

Now the installer shows you the installation progress. Sit down and relax...

After completion you can press [Done]

OK, now you are all set and done to start the EM 11.1 upgrade

After unzipping the 3 zip files that were downloaded from http://delivery.oracle.com, navigate to the

software directory and start the runInstaller

Enter your My Oracle Support credentials

Press [Next]

Select "Download and install updates from My Oracle Support"

As there were no updates when I performed this installation I also could have selected "Skip Software

Updates"

Press [Next]

Select "Upgrade to Enterprise Manager 11g"

Press [Next]

Select the OracleHome to upgrade

Press [Next]

When all checks are successful, press [Next]

Enter the SYSMAN password

Press [Next]

Confirm the Middleware location. This is the location where you installed the WebLogic Server.

Press [Next]

Enter the password for the WebLogic User weblogic and the Node Manager User nodemanager.

Check if the right location for the JVM Diagnostics Data Tablespace is entered.

Press [Next]

Enter the proper Ports to use.

Press [Next]

Press [Install] to start the upgrade

Execute as directed the allroot.sh as user root and press [OK] after execution of the script has finished.

The URL to access the EM Console is displayed as well as direction for the installation of additional

OMS servers.

When addressing the EM Console the first time you will be asked to accept the License Agreement

The Installation Guide then directs you to remove the "old" OAS components:

Remove all targets starting with "EnterpriseManager0..."

You can now (as directed by the Installation Guide) remove the "old" oms10g and agent10g

directories.

When looking at the "All Targets" page you will notice

"/secFarm_GCDomain/GCDomain/EMGC_ADMINSERVER/FMW_Welcom_Page_Application(11.

1.0.0.0) Target bwing down. Still need to sort out this one.
