The duo run helter-skelter trying to find a replacement when Arjun finds a woman with a cute baby. He tries to convince the mother to let the baby act and in the ensuing argument s he gets into an accident and is hospitaliz ed. Ar jun admits her to the hospital and takes the baby to the client who approves. On his return, he finds that the lady is miss ing and he is literally lef t holding the baby . T here are many hilarious moments as he and Archana take care of the baby. The opening titles set the mood for the film right from the beginning. You expect something
different as you watch the clean white backdrop come alive with the lead pair appearing and
playing pranks on each other with the titles appearing on multi-coloured dice. And refreshingly
different it is.
The romance here works differently, the couple only sense their feelings for each other at the
end of the film. No saccharine sentimental dialogues and soulful waiting, the pair don’t have
time for that, they are too busy trying to solve the series of problems that they seem to run
headlong into. The lively nuggets of humour keep the film light, entertaining and moving along.
When Rupa ask Ajmal how he will look after the baby, he retorts , I have brought up puppies so
don’t worry. You also find yourself chuckling when the baby is crying and the practical Rupa
sits turning pages l ooking for a way to stop as the baby bawls.
Ajmal Ameer as the easy-go-lucky average Joe performs his role adequately enough though
he does tend to go over the top occassionally and some streaks of Vijay do come into his
performance. Newcomer Rupa Manjari performs her role well and is able to light up the
screen with her charm. Whether it’s a light-hearted moment or an anxious one she shares
with Ajmal, her large eyes bring life to it. Cherubic baby Darshan is wins ome with his
endearing smiles . Mouli as the passionate ad agency owner whose dream is on the verge of
sinking has many moments filled with doubt, tension and des pair besides those bravely trying
to hide his feelings from his wife and s taff. To his credit, he conveys al l these with great
conviction and dign ity.
On the technical side, Sudhir Chaudhary, a gold medalist from the Chennai Film Institute and
Nandhini's batchmate, handles the camera. The cinematography matches the mood of the
film as well-lit, happy frames dom inate. It has been completely shot on the Red Camera and i sthe first Tamil film to have an all digital release in India and abroad. Mani Sharma's music
works best with Jilenna Veesum , a melodious number that has been s hot in beautiful green
mountain locales. The camera’s sweeping pan shots across the landscape gives the song
the poetic feel that it calls for. However, some of the other songs do seem an interruption to the
smooth flow of the story and one feels they have been forced in unnecessarily. The sets have
an ai r-brushed advertising film feel, the kind of obs ession advertising film makers have with
the perfectly spotless walls and that perfectly placed artifact.
All in al l, T4 is entertainment, pure and simple. Go for it!
