In reverse order, here are our Top Five August Drinking and Dining Venues. 5. O Bar and Dining Tapas Lounge With the best view of the city, this former tourist destination has been transformed; it's now 'So Sydney.' This month saw the launch of their chic tapas lounge, the perfect space to elevate an ordinary evening into soaring status. The new, separate addition is sleek and elegant with understated dark décor. Lounges and booths give a relaxed but refined feel. Chef Michael Moore fuses Spanish tapas, moorish mezze, and Chinese yum cha with impressive results. You'll want to book ahead to avoid a 24-storey cue on a Saturday night. Or just head in often to make friends with the servers - everyone loves friends in high places. From fine dining with a casual feel to burgers and hot dogs with a big game twist - August saw sometantalisingly tasty brand new venues around town. The dizzying heights of Sydney Tower got a tapasaddition, while Mosman added burgers to its list of local foodie obsessions.

In reverse order, here are our Top Five August Drinking and Dining Venues.

5. O Bar and Dining Tapas Lounge

With soaring ceilings, four menus, and a $4 million fit out, Alpha is Peter Conistis' generous gift toSydney diners. Mouthwatering dishes are served up with a casual-chic feel in an impressive space thatmixes fine dining and casual, old Greece and new. The four menus (quick-fire cantina, rotisserie, meze,and a-la-carte) offer something for everyone, including classics from Conistis' other restaurants.

3. Lotus Dumpling Bar

Walsh Bay's newest Dumpling Bar is making big waves with their tiny, dainty dumplings. And trust us,they're divine. Lucy Luo (AKA: Australia's Dumpling Queen) is stuffing, pinching, steaming and fryingin Lotus' exposed open kitchen every day. This industrial-cool small bar features just 48 seats, so makesure you plan accordingly if you don't want to be disappointed. The Northern Chinese-style dumplings

come out in hyper-candy colours (though traditional white and green varieties are available), and are asadorable as they are delicious. A stylish cocktail list, executed by bar manager Led Emmet, rounds out thedining experience at this new venue that's encouraging the locals to think small. Dumpling small.

2. The Hunter

Imagine a luxury South African safari colliding with a warm, sleek New York bar - this is the result: anexplosion of emu sliders, wild boar hot dogs, and crocodile sosaltiles. Chilli and vanilla-spiced margaritasare the perfect way to wash down the big game bar food. As the first small bar to take up residency inMosman, The Hunter has well and truly conquered rugged terrain.

1. The Burger Shed

Burgers and milkshakes have had a modern makeover from Justin North at this culinary offering that'sheating up Mosman's foodie scene. It's fine dining meets your local milk bar. Rustic brick walls,distressed timber and a light-wrapped ladder overhead foster the DIY atmosphere; this is one big rusticbox for your burger. The Shed Burger is their specialty, featuring a grass-fed angus fullblood wagyu patty,cheddar, tomato relish, shed pickles, lettuce and aioli. Though it seems like a meat-lovers paradise, thereare also options for vegetarians and gluten-avoiders alike. Milkshake-lovers (everyone, right?) can treatthemselves to a flavour like Zokko Chocolate Fudge, Salted Caramel Dulce de Leche, or StrawberryVanilla Cheesecake, or order all three - strictly for research purposes…
