Preparation Key toCollege and CareerSuccess(ARA) - The 2010 Bureau of Labor Statistics re-port "Education Pays..." illustrates that higherearnings and lower unemployment rates are oftenreported among bachelor's degree holders, com-pared to those with only a high school diploma. The 2010 median weekly earnings for bachelor'sdegree holders was $1,038, compared to just$626 for those with only a high school diploma.Despite such clear benefits to earning a collegedegree, many students are not prepared for edu-cation beyond high school. In fact, according todata from the 2011 Pew Research Center report"Is College Worth It?," 58 percent of college presi-dents say high school students are coming to col-lege less prepared than they were 10 years ago.Because of these figures and the United States'falling rank among developed countries for collegecompletion rates, many lawmakers have recom-mended efforts to increase the number of youngadults with a college degree. Some institutions are already working with highschool educators to teach students about the im-portance of preparing for college. DeVry Universi-ty's HerWorld program was designed to provideyoung women with the tools they need to be betterprepared to succeed in college, empowering themto reach their full potential. Robin was able to help coordinatedonations from other chapters around thecountry to help these women find some com-

fort with new sewing machines, needles andthreads.Several years later Robin was at a dinnerwhere she met her future partner’s wife. Af-ter striking up a conversation, Mr. MichaelJiang’s wife told her that her husband wasgoing to start a dress business importing ballgowns to the United States. “I’d like to meethim to hear how he does that”, Robin confid-ed to Mr. Jiang’s wife. And that is how R metJ and became RJ Formals.Crush by RJ Formals is the brain child ofCOO Michael Jiang. As he was developinghis plan to invade the prom market he met hispartner Robin Spindt. Together they becamethe moving force behind RJ Formals and laterdecided to call their first prom line Crush.“This is our third prom season and we arehappy with the reception the prom markethas given us,” Spindt who is President tell us.“With prom season 2012 almost behind uswe will have achieved our first very big goalof $1 million dollars in sales”, reports Mr.Jiang.Robin is living her passion and her dream. After all those years of sewing and havingpeople asking her where did you buy that? She can now influence her own prom fash-ions and hopefully you will have a Crush onthem. So as you close one chapter of your life, andbegin to open a new one dare to have bigdreams. Easy Exercises Tipsfor Teens-Fitnessand HealthBy: zohaib

If you're a teenager, you may be confused about how toexercise to get stronger, stay healthy or, for some, theloss or weight gain. The good news is, there is no wayappropriate for the operation and there is no perfect ex-ercise you should do to be in shape. If it is true, it helpsto know how you can work so you can have fun, achieveyour goals and avoid getting hurt.ExercisingThe great thing about sport for boys is that almost all theactivities that make you move work. You should try todo heavy exercise for about an hour a day at least 3 daysa week and regular, moderate activity for the rest of theweek. Here are the different types of activities eachweek include:1. Aerobic exercise strong. These include sports suchas football, tennis, soccer, volleyball, basketball, etc. Italso includes brisk walking, running, cycling, swimmingor chasing an annoying brother. Always be sure to wearprotection to any activities you have chosen and, as al-ready mentioned, try to level of activity at least 3 times aweek.2. Strengthening muscle. This type of training helpsyou build muscle strength and endurance. This may in-volve activities that are not organized as the use of play-ground equipment or climbing trees. It also may includea structured strength training exercises such as squats, bending or sit-ups with weights, machines, or the weightof his body. Always work with adults, coach, trainer orother expert before you start lifting weights to make sureyou know the right exercises to do and how to do itright. You can already lift weights if you play sports, butif not, you can add the kind of activity 2 or 3 days aweek, with at least one rest day in between. Learn moreabout strength training for young children.3. Regular activities. In addition to participating in asport or other activities such as walking or cycling, youshould also include regular activities in your day, whichmeans limiting the time you're sitting at a computer orvideo games. This may include active games (like Wiior Dance Dance Revolution), a walk, fight with yourfriends, or throwing a ball in the yard. This is somethingyou can do every day, especially on days you do notharder, the more structured training.

Prevention of operation* High lift. This type of training involves lifting anexplosion, often focus on how much you can lift atone time. Type of training is not recommended forchildren because it is difficult to use good form andbody can be stressed too abruptly, causing injury.* Exercising too. Exercising too much can also leadto injuries, overtraining, and, for girls, changes in themenstrual cycle, which can lead to bone loss. Some-times it's hard to know how much is too much, so ev-eryone can tolerate different amounts of exercise. However, the exercise several times a day or a fewhours might be too much to anyone. Following theguidelines and exercising about an hour a day is agood starting point.* Expect realistic results. While it is good to havegoals to improve your body, you can not always con-trol what we can change. If you want bigger muscles,it is something that happens after puberty, althoughyou can always build strength at any age. If you wantto lose weight, exercise and healthy diet is the key,but do not expect a dramatic weight loss last night.Permanent, safe weight loss is a slow process and tryto accelerate with a healthy diet or exercising oftencounterproductive.Tips for getting more exerciseIf you are into sports, you may have practices, gamesand other activities to keep you busy. Otherwise, youmay need to be creative in this sport, especially if youhave not yet had the opportunity to practice differentactivities to find what you like and what you aregood. Some ideas:* On foot, by bike or skate to and from school, if theoption* Ask your parents if you can go to the gym withthem or if there is a local community center whereyou can exercise* Check the network cable to see if you have ExerciseTV, a channel offering free training whenever youwant* If you hang out at the mall or local shopping center, take a walk rather than staying in one place or not eatat the food court* Create a new routine where you walk, run or inlineskate every day, when you come home from school orbefore dinner. If you do not want to exercise outsideof them, ask your friend or family member to go withyou or use a video workout in your bedroom* Do some task. rake leaves or sweep the street canactually burn calories by making your parents happy* Take the dog for a walk

day, every woman needs something danglyand eye-catching for a night out or to dressup an everyday outfit.

Choose a color that complements most ofyour existing wardrobe so you can wearthem often, such as black onyx with dia-mond accents. And every woman shouldown a pair of hoop earrings in either ster-ling silver or 14-karat gold. "For a twist onclassic hoops, choose interchangeable ear-rings that can be customized with long

dangles or short drop pendants to create adifferent look for every day of the week,"Ehrlich adds.

3. Bangles

Having a fun set of bangles is the key todressing up any outfit for an evening. Eh-rlich advises choosing a simple style insterling silver for a polished look, or ban-gles with colorful accents for a bit moreplayfulness. Layer your bangles with other

Style Staples: Jewelry Essen-tials For Every Budget(ARA) - Every woman knows there aresome basics that have to be in her closet:a little black dress, a pencil skirt, a greatpair of jeans and a classic purse. With theright building blocks, you can put togetheran outfit that's stylish, feminine and time-less, without a lot of fuss.

The same idea should apply to your jewel-ry collection. When you have the essentialpieces, you'll be prepared for any occa-sion, whether you need to be subtle orwant to turn some heads. Cristina Ehrlich, celebrity stylist and Pandora Jewelry am-bassador, outlines six can't-live-without-them pieces that you should have onhand.1. A statement ring

One jewelry trend that has lasted through-out many seasons is a cocktail ring thatmakes a statement. "Floral motifs andprecious gemstones set in gold or sterlingsilver are classic choices," Ehrlich says. She also points out that you can experi-ment with different kinds of stones, suchbright orange carnelian or freshwaterpearls, which are available in every colorfrom creamy white to champagne or pea-cock blue. For a classic look stick to blackonyx or spinel, which go with everything.

2. Earrings of various lengths

This is a three-in-one essential: Youshould have studs, dangling earrings andhoops. "Studs are flattering on everyone,"Ehrlich says. "They brighten the face andcan easily be worn from day to night." Al-though stud earrings can be worn each

Accessoriesbracelets to create the look you want. "Ilove to layer silver bangles with blackleather bracelets," suggests Ehrlich.

4. Chain necklaces

"A simple chain in sterling silver, oxidizedsilver or 14-karat gold is a classic piecethat you will be able to reinvent again andagain," Ehrlich says. Choose a long and a

short chain to give you more options. Lay-er them together for a modern look, orchoose to wear one with a beautiful pen-dant, clip or charm.

5. A watch

A great watch has been a jewelry staplefor some time, but with prominence of cellphones, many women have mistakenlytucked their watches away in the jewelrybox. Opt for a more delicate piece that

looks like a bracelet, or if it suits your style,go for a bigger, menswear-inspired watch.Ehrlich points out that some watch design-ers allow the wearer to switch out watchfaces, bezels and bands to create a com-pletely customizable look. No matter whichyou prefer, choose a classic style that canbe worn with any outfit.

6. A bracelet you love

Building on an old tradition, contemporarycharm bracelets allow the wearer to createa personalized and unique piece of jewel-ry, tailored to their own preferences andtaste.

The Pandora collection includes classiccharm bracelets in sterling silver, 14-karatgold or two-tone, as well as more modernoptions such as the double-braided leatherbracelet, all of which can be customizedwith a selection of hundreds of charmsand clips.

"You can change the charms on yourbracelet to suit your mood or the occa-sion," Ehrlich points out. "Any event ormilestone in your life can be the occasionfor adding a charm to your collection."

When it comes to buying your essentialjewelry pieces, look for those made fromgenuine, quality materials such as sterlingsilver, 14-karat gold, precious and semi-precious stones, which will retain their val-ue and beauty for years.

The key to choosing each piece in yourcollection is to keep in mind your wardrobeand favorite colors so that you will have avariety of accessories to wear for any oc-casion and any outfit.

And of course, always choose somethingthat celebrates your individual style.

How to Have theBest Prom EverBy: Tammy Ussery-Bakhtiari

Prom is one of high school’s most memorable socialevents. It is a time for juniors and seniors to have funwith friends and wrap up the school year. To be sureyou look absolutely stunning in your prom dress, andthat you have an amazing prom night, start planningnow.

Finding a Date:Having a great date is nice and having a terrible datecan ruin your night. Start thinking about who youwould like to go to prom with, and start making hints--very obvious hints. Guys do not always get hints verywell. Also, think about what matters most to you. Doyou want a date who loves to dance or do you want alow-key, easy-going date? Or, do you want to go toprom with the most attractive guy in school?

Many times, your best bet is to go with a close malefriend. Think about who you talk to during math class,or who you have lunch with. You will be less stressedif you already know your date well, and most impor-tantly, if you know he is friendly and will be goodcompany. And if all else fails, ask one of your friend’sdates if one of his male friends could be your promdate. Then go out to dinner with a group of friends, which is fun and prevents intimidating one-on-one con-versations.

Finding the Perfect Prom Dress:Start looking for prom dresses and formal eveninggowns as soon as possible. Be open to a variety ofstyles, and know what colors you look best in. Black isclassic and slimming, but you are only in high schoolonce--so don’t be afraid to explore deep blue, lightpink, gold, plum, and other colors. If you want to besexy, but not too sexy, choose a dress with a low backand then wear your hair up.

As a rule, wear dresses that accentuate your best fea-tures. If you are well-endowed, consider a V-neckdress, and if you have great legs, try on dresses that hitabove the knee.

It is perfectly acceptable to wear shorter prom dressesnow, and with celebrities such as Cameron Diaz and

Gwyneth Paltrow sporting shorter dresses on the redcarpet, you can rest assured that no one will question ashort prom dress. You may also want to consider acocktail dress.

Lastly, make sure your dress fits well. Don’t buy adress that is too small and hope that you are going tolose weight before prom, and if you are going to wear apadded bra under your prom dress, wear one when youare trying on dresses. And make sure your dress iscomfortable! You want to be able to sit through dinnerand dance all night long, so make sure your dress cando both.

Making Dinner Plans:Restaurants book up quickly, especially is you attend alarge high school where hundreds of students haveprom on the same weekend. So make reservations inadvance! If you are going to dinner with a large group, choose a restaurant with food that everyone will like.Yes, Sushi or Indian food is amazing, but people canbe picky eaters.Choose a restaurant with pasta, salads, meat entrees, and vegetarian options. Also, think about everyone’sprice budget. Some people may be willing to fork out$75 for a meal, while others may feel uncomfortablepaying more than $15.

Doing your Hair, Nails, and Make-up: The options forhair, nails, and make-up are endless. Most girls havetheir hair done professionally for prom. If you do planon doing this, bring a picture from a magazine showingexactly what you want. You may also want to get yourhair done before prom.

If you have an important birthday party, recital, or re-ception coming up, get your hair done by a stylist inthe way you want it for prom. This way, if you do notlove your hair-style the first time around, you can get itperfected the second time around for prom.

Also, wear a buttoned-up shirt when you are gettingyour hair done. Then you will not mess up your hairwhen changing into your prom dress. Lastly, leave atleast 2 hours to get your hair done.

As far as nails are concerned, do whatever you want! AFrench manicure is classic, but you really can’t gowrong. You can choose vibrant colors with designs oryou can stick to red or a delicate pink. Any way is gor-geous.

* More than 16 million children in the U.S.have untreated tooth decay, more thanany other chronic infectious disease, in-cluding asthma, early-childhood obesityand diabetes.

* Approximately 80 percent of tooth decayin this country is suffered by 25 percent ofits children.

* Household economic disadvantage is thesingle best predictor of tooth decay in chil-dren.

* 51 million school hours are lost eachyear to untreated cavities.

For children in need, it iseven more of a challenge, so we're work-ing with 3M ESPE Dental, the AmericanDental Association, the ADA Foundation

and Henry Schein Cares to provide educa, free screenings and treatments."Biffle shared these recommendations fromthe ADA for your children:* Brush twice a day with fluoride tooth-paste.* Floss once a day.* Eat a balanced diet and avoid sugarysnacks and drinks. Frequent access tosugary drinks, not the quantity, increasesthe likelihood of tooth decay by feedingbacteria that attacks tooth enamel.* Visit the dentist regularly.* Reward children each time they exhibitgood dental health, perhaps with a stickeron a calendar.* Make dental care non-negotiable. Chil-dren know they must be buckled in carseats. Dental health should be equallymandatory.* Set a good example by following theserecommendations. (ARA) - Students graduating from college thisyear should expect better job opportunities andsalaries than graduates from recent history, butthat doesn't mean new graduates will have aneasy time finding employment. Competition willstill be fierce with hundreds of applications sub-mitted for jobs in many industries, both from newgraduates and former graduates still looking forwork. If you're planning on graduating soon and seekingcareer opportunities, here are some employmenttrends to be aware of to stay on top of the careermarket:* First, expect to change jobs numerous times inyour career. In today's career world, job stability does not al-ways equal job security. Employees change jobsabout every five years, according to the Bureau ofLabor Statistics. Reasons differ for many people, but could be due to changes in the industry, re-structuring in the company or because of lack ofjob growth within one company."The U.S. economy is fundamentally changing, and employees can no longer expect to work theirway up the company ladder," says Brad Kuchen-reuther, campus president at Everest College-Vancouver.* Second, know where the jobs are. "Our nation isexperiencing huge demographic and economicchanges, which are creating major shifts in thetypes of jobs available today," says Mary Durall-Dupree, academic dean Everest College-Vancou-ver. "Students should prepare themselves for achanging job market."Current careers in need of employees includeinformation technology, engineers and accountingand finance, according to Fortune 500 magazine."One of the fastest growing sectors in the comingdecade will be the health care sector," saysKuchenreuther. The health care industry is antici-pated to see fast growth due to the baby boomergeneration getting older and retiring from thesepositions, as well as needing more health careservices themselves as they age.

"This is one of the reasons that we specificallytarget many of our degree programs to the field ofhealth care training," adds Kuchenreuther.* Third, consider going back to school for addition-al career training. Today's job market requiresthat employees keep their skills current, and as aresult, more and more adults are going back toschool. "Students come to us to keep their skillsup-to-date or get the credentials they need to ad-vance in their careers," says Durall-Dupree. "Theyfind that it is increasingly necessary in today'schanging job market."Careers that require education higher than abachelor's degree are expected to have the fast-est employment growth by 2020, according to theBLS. But several occupations in the medical fieldand the marketing industry which require associ-ate or bachelor's degrees are also projected togrow rapidly through 2020. Going back to schoolfor additional training, or earning a degree whilealready in the job are options for employees."Employers understand that a one- or two-yearprogram can give new employees exactly the mixof academic learning and hands-on experiencethey need to excel in today's changing job mar-ket," says Kuchenreuther.
