Iraq AF Flight Training School and AVN TAFT
Mission: To provide FW and RW pilot training; provide RW crew member and maintainer training; and maintenance support to the IQAF in support of their flight training school.
End State: Iraq Air Force Flight Training School (FTS) staff and cadre capable of managing and conducting all FTS courses.
Since 14 JUL 2007, this mission has consisted of a 4 man MIL team of AVN experts overseeing the efforts of a 39 man contractor team providing the FW and RW training, maintainer training and maintenance support to the Iraqi AF.
Bosnian Herzegovina (BiH) Explosive Ordnance Disposal
(EOD) Unit TAFT
Mission: To develop the first EOD unit in the BiH military, prepare it for deployment in support of Coalition Forces, and develop a cadre within the BiH to sustain EOD training.
Endstate: The BiH EOD Unit is self-sustaining for the long term and that EOD will remain a vital niche capability for the armed forces of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
SATMO has provided eight EOD training teams, either TDY or PCS to support the establishment and development of a 50 man EOD unit. The EOD unit successfully deployed to IRAQ in support of Coalition Forces.
Colombian Aviation TAFTMission: Aviation TAFT will provide on-site management and field advisory support to Colombia’s Regional Helicopter Training Center (RHTC) at Melgar Air Base, Colombia and the Colombian Army (COLAR) Aviation Brigade at Tolemaida, Colombia
USASATMO established the Colombian Aviation TAFT in 2001 as part of Plan Colombia and subsequent sale of UH-60L aircraft. The TAFT has gone on to further develop the aviation training capability of the Colombian Armed Forces.
Currently this TAFT is overseeing the training of Mexican pilots by the Colombians, which is in support of Merida Initiative.
